Chapter 30 : Dragon Soars the Sky

Chapter 30 : Dragon Soars the Sky

Dragon Soars the Sky

"..."

Dead silence fell over the group of students. Every single person—including Qin Ling, who had just finished off the five monsters behind them and was rushing over to help, and Xiao Hu, whose face was still splattered with monster blood and guts—stood there with bulging eyes and gaping mouths, staring at Chu Tianxing in complete disbelief.

How the hell was this even possible?

Chu Tianxing, who'd always been weak as a kitten and couldn't hurt a fly, had suddenly turned into some kind of beast? Not only had he picked up that eight-sided steel rod that had to weigh at least two hundred pounds with one hand, but he'd actually one-shotted that elite monster that looked like nothing but trouble...

"No way. There's no fucking way Chu Tianxing could be this strong. He must've popped some enhancement pills or he's cheating somehow!"

For a moment, everyone was stuck in stunned shock, completely unable to process what they'd just witnessed.

"What the hell are you all standing around for? Get back to the cabin, now!" Chu Tianxing barked, still composed.

That snapped the students out of their daze. They scrambled toward the cabin entrance and soon met up with the crew members who had come to assist.

Chu Tianxing stayed behind to cover the retreat. Just as Qin Ling reached him and they were about to head back together, a strange fish monster climbed onto the deck. It was flanked by several blue-scaled elite fish monsters wielding heavy weapons.

This fish monster wasn't particularly muscular; if anything, it looked kind of scrawny.

It wore a bone crown on its head, held a coral staff in its hand, and its body was covered in dark-red scales. Its blood-red eyes held the same cruelty as the other fish monsters, but without the crazed bloodlust. Instead, there was something coldly calculating that made your blood run cold just looking at it.

The moment Chu Tianxing laid his eyes on the crowned fish monster, his Intuition kicked into overdrive even though the monster didn’t spare him a glance and focused on the security captain.

He didn’t hesitate or wait for the fish to charge at the cabin; instead, he took the first move.

With a shout, he unleashed the Great Stele-Smashing Hand to hurl the steel rod in his hand with every might he had.

The heavy rod tore through the air with a low, whistling roar, aimed straight at the crowned fish monster.

With his own raw strength and a boost from his Xiantian Art, that staff was basically a mini missile. Given the rod's weight and the force Chu Tianxing put behind it, even someone like the security captain would be willing to meet this attack head-on.

But the crowned fish monster didn't even spare the incoming projectile a glance.

It simply raised its coral staff and pointed the black pearl embedded in its tip toward the security captain, and began chanting in a harsh, guttural voice with strange, twisted syllables.

The two blue-scaled elite monsters flanking it screeched and each grabbed a regular fish monster and hurled them directly into the path of the flying steel rod.

WHAM!

The rod slammed into one of the fish monsters, instantly turning it into flying chunks of meat and bone. The thing was basically shredded on impact.

The rod still had momentum left, but another fish monster was thrown in its path.

After another sickening crunch, that monster's chest caved in, basically dead on impact.

The rod’s kinetic energy was finally spent after killing two murlocs, and it fell to the deck with a loud clang.

Chu Tianxing never had any expectation that the steel rod could take out the crowned fish monster, not with several elite guards protecting it.

The moment the rod escaped from his hand, his body shot forward like a bullet and charged straight at the crowned monster.

His speed was so fast that he left a phantom.

This was the Western Venom’s famous Lightness Skill, A Thousand Li in an Instant!

At the same time, that staff-wielding fish monster had already finished its chanting. A hazy gray beam shot from the pearl on its staff, flying silently at the security chief.

The security captain was a master at the peak of the Inner Force Realm, so even in the heat of battle, he could sense danger. He immediately sidestepped behind one of the fish monsters, trying to use it as a meat shield against the beam.

But that gray beam actually curved around the fish monster and kept coming straight for him.

The captain's heart lurched. Aura-locking? Homing attacks? These are things only a True Qi grandmaster should be able to pull off! How could that fishy bastard manage to pull it off?

But the facts were before him, and he had no time to think.

In the split second he had, the security captain threw his riot shield up in front of himself and positioned his axe behind it as a second line of defense.

Then something even more impossible happened.

That gray beam passed right through both the shield and the axe like they weren't even there and hit the security captain directly.

The moment the beam touched him, the captain felt his body grow heavy. A bone-deep exhaustion spread from the point of impact, washing over his entire body in seconds. His strength felt like it was draining away like water through a broken dam.

Even his internal energy was seriously affected and couldn't flow through his meridians like before.

While he hadn't completely lost his ability to fight, that one beam had instantly knocked his combat effectiveness down by at least thirty percent, and the effect was still active, slowly sapping more of his strength.

And that wasn't even the end of it.

After firing that beam, the staff monster immediately started chanting again, preparing a second attack.

The security captain was in deep trouble.

If that thing hit him with another beam like that, his strength would drop even further. At that point, even retreating to the cabin in one piece would be tough.

But with his power already down thirty percent and still falling, he could barely protect himself, let alone break through the fish wall and take out the crowned monster.

The other six security team members aren’t nearly as strong as him. They could barely hold the line, much less mount any kind of breakthrough assault.

That's when Chu Tianxing suddenly appeared in the captain's field of vision.

Seeing Chu Tianxing charging toward the staff-wielding monster with the speed of lightning, the security captain was both impressed and scared, "Are you insane?! That thing has several guards around it. You'll never make it through! Get back here!"

But Chu Tianxing ignored him completely. With his A Thousand Li in an Instant at full power, he was already diving into the monster horde in the blink of an eye. Then he switched to Snake-Crawl Raccoon-Tumble and weaving through the horde like a snake, finding gaps and breaking through the mass of regular fish monsters in just a few moves to reach the staff creature.

One of the elite guards by the staff monster screeched and stepped forward, raising its three-pronged spear to thrust straight at Chu Tianxing's face.

Just as the spear was about to pierce his face, Chu Tianxing ducked his head down at the last second, barely dodging the thrust.

At the same time, he bent his arms inward with his elbows forward leading like arrowheads and slammed them into the elite monster's chest.

Peach Blossom Island Martial Arts: Spirit Turtle Steps.

Crack!

His elbow struck the elite monster's chest with a sharp sound of breaking bones. The creature's chest caved in as it coughed up blood and stumbled backward.

Chu Tianxing pressed on, keeping his elbow pressed against the monster's body, using it as a battering ram as he pushed it toward the staff monster.

But the staff creature still had four more elite guards around it. They all stepped forward to block the path in front of their leader.

They raised their weapons and brought them down hard on the monster Chu Tianxing was pushing, ready to tear both their comrade and the human to shreds.

Just as the four heavy weapons came down on the elite monster Chu Tianxing was using as a shield and shredded it to pieces, Chu Tianxing bent his knees slightly and exploded upward with tremendous force. His body shot into the air like a rising dragon, instantly leaping over the defensive line formed by the four elite monsters. Then he twisted in midair, flipping upside down with his head pointing down, and struck at the staff monster with a palm technique that seemed to fall from the heavens themselves.

When his palm moved, the wind howled like a dragon’s roar.

Eighteen Dragon-Subduing Palms: Dragon Soars the Sky!

Chu Tianxing was still only at the Inner Force Realm, and he'd only opened four meridians so far. He couldn't yet produce the solid energy projections that True Qi Realm fighters could create for long-range attacks.

But even though it was just palm wind howling through the air, the moment he descended from above, the staff monster seemed to encounter its natural enemy. The dragon-like roar of his palm wind actually froze it in place. It could only barely lift its head to stare at Chu Tianxing with terror in its eyes.

Dragon's Fear? This human... is he a Dragon Vein Sorcerer?

SLAM!

His palm crashed down on the staff monster's head.

The entire fish head burst apart like a melon under the explosive force of that devastating palm strike, blood and bone fragments spraying everywhere like rain.

Chu Tianxing used the rebound from the impact to launch himself back into the air with a backflip and landed outside the defensive line of the four elite monsters. Without a word, he turned and bolted.

There were just too many fish monsters and killing them all was impossible.

Even with his Intuition letting him fight at full capacity in battle, his internal energy cultivation was still pretty shallow.

That combination of the Great Stele-Smashing Hand, A Thousand Li in an Instant, Snake-Crawl Raccoon-Tumble, Spirit Turtle Steps, and Dragon Soars the Sky had drained him considerably. If he got tangled up with those four elite monsters for much longer, he might end up surrounded by the reinforcements streaming in.

He might be practicing the Xiantian Art, but he'd only just started learning it recently.

He hadn't yet reached the level where his internal energy was self-sustaining and practically unlimited.

While the Xiantian Art let him recover energy much faster than other Inner Force Realm martial artists, his recovery rate couldn’t keep up with how fast he was burning it, more so if he got trapped in a circle of endless fish monsters.

So after taking out the staff monster that had triggered his danger sense, Chu Tianxing didn't stick around to fight. He pulled back immediately.

After catching his breath for a moment, he exploded into action again with A Thousand Li in an Instant and Snake-Crawl Raccoon-Tumble, diving back into the monster horde to help the severely weakened security captain break out of the encirclement. Once they regrouped with the other six security team members, they started fighting their way toward the cabin.

And that's when Qin Ling, Xiao Hu, Gao Yuan, and Chen Musheng came charging over to help.

Not just those four, the cute and baby-faced Xu Jing, plus Li Haiyang, another student whose martial arts ranked in the "Four 2s", had also come over with shield and saber in hand.

They formed up with Qin Ling and Xiao Hu as the spearhead. Both Qin Ling and Xiao Hu were wielding extra-long war blades in the Imperial Guard style, while Gao Yuan and Chen Musheng had sword and shield setups. Only Xu Jing and Li Haiyang had brought weapons for them when they came to provide backup.

With proper weapons in hand, Qin Ling's group was like tigers with wings.

Despite their lack of real combat experience, all six had solid cultivation levels. Fighting in formation allowed them to slash down the monsters with ease. They quickly cut through the monster horde and linked up with Chu Tianxing's group.

When Qin Ling saw Chu Tianxing, she quickly scanned him from head to toe. Only after seeing him completely unharmed did she finally relax a little.

The situation was urgent, so she had no time to question Chu Tianxing about why he had turned back and charged onto the deck without a word just now. She just gave a quick nod to the security captain, whose strength had dropped to slightly below even her own level, then acted as the arrowhead with Xiao Hu and led everyone in fighting their way back.

With the ship's strongest fighters all grouped together and armed with high-quality cold weapons, the fish monsters couldn't stop them despite their numbers. After losing their staff-wielding leader, they had no way to block the group's advance. The humans cut through the encirclement and fought their way to the cabin entrance where they joined up with the crew members guarding the entryway.
