Unexplainable Condition

"Matilda since channelled all her love towards James," Dr Andesh said and Mr Wellington raised an eyebrow.

"I see, that makes sense. I see now why she was so fond of James. He is the child of her true love," Mr Wellington added. "But what is Mirenda's story?" he asked.

"A prank gone wrong," Dr Andesh said and Mr Wellington looked at her with a squinted brow.

"Well, Matilda and her friends went out to party and her friends decided to prank her by putting her next to a kind of man she will never breathe the same air with," Dr Andesh narrated.

"You don't say," Mr Wellington said. "What kind of man is that?" he asked.

"Low class, not rich with no taste in fashion," Dr Andesh replied.

"So, what did her friends do," Mr Wellington asked.

"They put Matilda and the guy in one of the private rooms, both dead drunk and forgot about her. Well, they didn't stay quiet and a couple of weeks later, Mirenda happened. She couldn't get rid of the pregnancy because her husband found out and was excited they were going to have another child." Dr Andesh narrated.

"I see," Mr Wellington said.

"Well, it so happened that James fell sick when he was nineteen years old. In the process of running the various lab tests to find out what was wrong with him, someone ran a DNA test on him. Mr Haward was also doing his routine medical checks in the same hospital. The results were not well kept or maybe intentionally slipped into Mr Haward's medical check results. Shocked, Mr Haward secretly requested a DNA test on both children and got to know they were both not his children. This is when he began the search for his child because he had cancer and he knew he had little time," Dr Andesh narrated.

"Unfortunately for him, Matilda was unhappy with his constant threat of throwing her and her children out to the street and she started messing with his medication," she continued.

"So Mr Haward did not tell her about his illness?" Mr Wellington asked.

"No, he didn't want to grieve his family about having a terminal illness. He was secretly getting treated," Dr Andesh explained.

"Oh, so that was what the routine medical check was for?" Mr Wellington asked.

"Yes, but Matilda found out somehow and knowing she was about to lose her position as a wife and the Haward's fortune, decided to play with Mr Johan's medications. For a process that has been slowed down, she managed to advance it quickly so he will not get the chance to change his will but Mr Haward had a different plan. He found his daughter and decided to marry her off to Jason. He drugged the two and carried that out successfully. He knew Jason better hence he chose him to stop the Hawards' fortune from falling into the hands of Matilda and her children," Dr Andesh reported.

"So he was counting on Jason to give the Haward's fortune to the rightful heir, his daughter. Wait, the Hawards always choose a man for such a position. He wanted to make Jason the Haward's heir," Mr Wellington pointed out.

"You are right and the only way to do that is if Jason marries a Haward" Dr Andesh added.

"So he went to search for his daughter so he can make Jason the heir," Mr Wellington said conclusively and both nodded.

"Makes things easy for me," Mr Wellington pointed out.

"What do you mean sir?" asked Dr Andesh.

"It means the Hawards and the Wellingtons can still have a partnership but as a family. Imagine what we can do with two powerful families joined together as one," Mr Wellington said with a smile.

"Good you have your son to control you," Dr Andesh said and Mr Wellington laughed.

"So Matilda's war with Jason is because of the Haward's fortune. I guess she knows Jason's wife is the true heir and the reason she is doing everything to keep them apart. She knows what Jason is capable of," Mr Wellington pointed out. "And she made one of my men go missing," he said but before Dr Andesh could reply her phone rang.

She checked and it was from her hospital.

"I think I have an emergency," Dr Andesh said.

"Go take care of that and I will finish going through this document. We will handle everything the Wellingtons' way," Mr Wellington said and Dr Andesh acknowledged and quickly exited his room.

Back at Julia's apartment, Mary had just returned from her grocery shopping carrying two big paper bags into the apartment. She found Julia sitting on the living room floor. She quickly placed the paper bags of items on the table and quickly went to Julia

"Ms Julia, are you alright?" Marry asked and Julia raised her head revealing a tear-stained face with red eyes.

Mary sat on the floor next to her and hugged her trying to console her.

"What happened Ms Julia?" Mary asked with concern.

"I sent him away. It's over," Julia cried.

"Why?" asked Mary knowing exactly who she was talking about.

"I don't know," Julia said after searching her memory for a while.

Thinking it over, she realized it was only one time Jason treated her badly and that was when they met for the first time. Since the day he presented her to his family as his wife he had done nothing but protect her.

"Just calm down. I will prepare some soup for you," Mary said and helped Julia get up from the floor.

Mary helped Julia to her bedroom and made her lie down on her bed. She hurried out of the room and went to the kitchen to prepare the soup. In the kitchen, she dialled Jason's number and brought the phone to her ears. The phone rang severally but there was no answer.

"That is strange. Mr Haward always answered my calls after the first ring," Mary thought and continued preparing the soup.

Back at Paradise Hotel, Peter was taking care of everything but was still wondering why Jason had still not shown up at the hotel or returned his call. This was unlike Jason. If he is taking that long, he is sure Mrs Haward is the reason.

At the hospital, Dr Andesh's car just drove in and she quickly parked at the parking lot. She got out of the car quickly and ran into the hospital going straight to the emergency unit after changing and was surprised to see the person lying on the bed who appeared to be unconscious. She was immediately frozen to her spot and her eyes fixated on the person.

"Dr, Dr," one of the medical practitioners called several times before she snapped out of her shock.

"What happened," Dr Andesh asked and proceeded to the patient's side holding a small light which she used in checking both of his eyes.

"The ambulance brought him here. According to them, they were called and informed someone had passed out behind the wheel on the highway" reported one of the medical practitioners.

"We have run multiple tests on him and everything came out fine yet he remains like this," reported the medical practitioner

"How long has he been like this?" asked Dr Andesh.

"From the time of arrival, it's been two hours," replied the medical practitioner.

"Run all the tests again," Dr Andesh ordered. "Please wake up. What happened to you?" she thought looking at the readings on the vital check machine.

She examined the body and there was no injury aside from the knife wound on his side which looks clean and healing. She went out of the ER and another medical practitioner walked up to her holding a phone.

"This was in his pocket," the medical practitioner said and handed it over to Dr Andesh.

The phone rang and it was Peter's name that flashed on the screen. Dr Andesh looked at the name for a while and answered.

"Hello Sir," Peter said.

"This is not Jason. He can't come to the phone right now," Dr Andesh said. "He is in the hospital," she informed him.

"Mrs Haward," Peter whispered on his lips.
