Termination

Jason went to sit next to Julia and held her hand in his. His tears rolled down his cheeks. He stayed by her side all through the night till morning. Julia had woken up a couple of times all through the night till morning but she went back to sleep after a few minutes.

Jason knew Julia didn't want to see him and he didn't want Julia to see him in tears, so he decided to leave before the effect of the medication wore off and she was fully awake.

Jason paid the medical bills outside the ward in full to have Julia treated and bought a newly furnished apartment in Julia's name. He got her a housekeeper and instructed the housekeeper to take care of Julia. He booked a hotel for three days. It was past noon when he was done with getting the house and housekeeper. He only called the doctor whose contact he had taken the previous day and found out how Julia was doing. He lay on the bed with Julia's words playing in his mind like a tape recorder. The doctor's word on the loss of his child was also on his mind.

Meanwhile, in Croydon, Harry was in Mr Dickson's office advising him to terminate Jason.

"He may be good but we have signed enough partnerships and it's easy to continue. We don't need him," Harry tried to convince Mr Dickson. "You want to keep him after what he did?" he questioned.

Mr Dickson sat behind his desk in silence. Jason had put the company on a whole new level and he was sure with Jason's experience they would soon start opening branches. Jason was already working on that but he also could not overlook how Jason had hanged him in his own office. He knew he would have reacted the same way if someone did what he did to Jason to someone he cared about but he was now terrified. Jason didn't strike him as someone who would react that way.

"Think about it and make the right call," Harry said and exited Mr Dickson's office.

Mr Dickson sat in his seat and decided it was time to lay Jason off. He will pay Jason three months' salary as compensation. He was not sure he would be able to work with Jason again. Jason was tall, handsome, and always in a tuxedo. He never knew Jason had this strength in him. He called the board members and informed them of his decision to terminate Jason and they were surprised.

"Why do you want to terminate his appointment," asked one of the board members.

"He attacked me in my office. I have reasons to believe he is mentally unstable," Mr Dickson explained.

"What do you mean?" asked another board member.

"He walked into my office and attacked me. As we are taking now, he had left the city?' Mr Dickson added.

"That doesn't make sense," reacted another board member.

"It is true. I saw him leaving the office very early and he had not been back since," Harry added.

There was murmuring and talking a lot, going back and forth but Mr Dickson used his veto power to make the final decision.

"Silence please," Mr Dickson began. "Now listen everyone. I made my decision. I have decided to lay Jason Haward off effective immediately," he said and dismissed them.

Harry was smiling as they all left the boardroom and headed for their various offices.

In Florida, Jason was in his hotel going through his emails and responding to emails from clients with Mr Dickson in the copy of some of the emails he was sending out. He was working on a request from one of their clients when his phone beeped with an email notification. He opened it only to see a letter of termination sent to him. In the letter, signed by Harry and the Human resource manager, he was told he would be given three months' salary.

Jason acknowledged the email and completed the document he was working on and sent it over to Mr Dickson to sign and send to the client. He logged out of the company email after and tossed the phone to the side.

In the hospital, the doctor came to check up on Julia and informed her she would be discharged but never mentioned to her she was pregnant and had a miscarriage as requested by Jason.

Julia who was getting ready to leave the hospital and wondering where she was going to stay was surprised to see a woman of about thirty years old walk into the ward with a smile.

"Good morning, I am Mary Bayford, you can call me Mary. I was employed to be your housekeeper in your new home," Mary said with a smile and Julia raised her eyebrow.

"Who employed you?" Julia asked.

"Ms Mirenda Haward," Mary replied still smiling.

Jason had told Mary not to let Julia know he had employed her. He had given Mary Mirenda's name knowing Julia would ask such a question. He knew Julia would reject his offer if she knew it came from him. If Mrs Haward bought her the mouse trap she called an apartment, Mirenda could buy her a proper house. That is why he used her name.

"Thanks, but I don't need it," Julia replied angrily.

"You may not need it but I need this job. Please, I have waited for a long time to get a job, please don't make me jobless," Mary pleaded.

"I am sure someone will employ you," replied Julia.

"Yes, but it will take a long time," Mary said lowering her head sadly.

Julia looked at her for a while and accepted the offer, realizing she was now all alone. She didn't want to see Jason and Peter was also not there. She went to check and settle the bill but she was told it had already been settled. She knew Jason had paid for them. She asked Mary for her phone and she dialled Jason's number

"Hello," replied Jason.

"Why did you pay for my medical bills?" Julia questioned angrily.

"I am sorry, I didn't mean to," Jason replied coldly.

"I will return your money to you," Julia said

"How?" Jason inquired.

"With the money, I earned working at the Haward company," Julia replied.

"Very well, good luck with that," Jason said to her knowing she didn't have access to that account yet as he opened it in her name but had not transferred anything to her yet.

Julia immediately remembered she didn't have access to that account. He had opened that account for her when he brought her to Florida since she didn't have one in the first place. It was the account into which he paid her salary.

"How do I get access to that account?" Julia inquired.

"Don't worry, I will send you the details," Jason said, disconnecting the call.

Julia went with Mary to the new apartment and realized it was fully furnished. She entered and admired the interior of the building. The exterior is equally amazing. She sat on the sofa and turned on the TV and Mary quickly went to the kitchen and started cooking. The refrigerator had already been stuffed.

"Do you want something to drink while I get lunch ready?" Mary asked and Julia accepted.

Mary served Julia a hot chocolate drink, which she sipped while watching TV.

In the hotel, Jason picked up his phone, dialled Peter's number and informed him he was going to be away for a while.

"Why boss?" Peter asked.

"I intended to stay in Florida and start something new," replied Jason.

"Boss, I want to come over," Peter said and Jason acknowledged before disconnecting the call.

Peter quickly called the landlord and handed the apartment key over to him after parking all of their staff from the room. He put them in the car and drove to the airport. He immediately sold the car to a friend and boarded a flight to Florida. He was coming to Florida in search of Julia and Jason.

Jason was about to check out of the hotel but decided to wait for Peter. He went to the hotel's restaurant instead and ordered some food.

Meanwhile, in the apartment, James had just arrived and was surprised to see his mother dancing happily. He smiled and joined her in the living room and they both danced.

"Is it true about what they say?" Mrs Haward began.

"What?" reacted James.

"People in their extreme emotions are easy. She believed everything I told her," Mrs Haward said. "I think she is in love with Jason. You should have seen the poor thing. She shattered into pieces," she added with a laugh and James joined in the laughter. "But you, where did you go?" She asked, looking at him suspiciously

"I went to the club," James lied.

"For your sake, I hope you are telling me the truth," Mrs Haward said.

"Ma'am, lunch is ready," announced the servant.

Just then Mirenda entered the apartment and all eyes turned to her
