There is No Money
"And ma'am, a strange man came here a couple of nights ago. He gave me his name as Mark Smith. He said he was here to help Ma'am Fiona get her TV channel," he added and Mirenda's eyes widened.
"James," Mirenda whispered. "Fiona is in trouble. James got her. I knew it," she said.
"No, James doesn't have Fiona. James came for Ms Julia but we got her back. I was there with Mr Haward," Henry said.
"But you heard what he said," Mirenda said.
Henry pulled out his phone and dialled Jason's number. He waited for the call to connect while Mirenda started looking around for anything that would give them a clue about where to find Fiona. She hoped Fiona left clues for them to follow as she searched the environment. She headed for the apartment.
"Hello, Mr Haward. We have a situation. Ms Fiona is missing and it is possible James may have come for her," Henry said.
"I am with the police now. I will alert them," Jason said and the call ended.
Henry turned around and Mirenda was nowhere to be found. He started calling out to her.
"Mirenda," Henry called out her name climbing the staircase also going inside the apartment.
On the sixth floor, Henry stopped in the middle of the staircase when Mirenda showed up at the top of the staircase holding a baby's feeding bottle and a baby dress.
"Julia was here?" Henry asked.
"No, I think Fiona has a baby," Mirenda said slowly and Henry froze.
"When? How? And for how long?" he asked and Mirenda began to think trying to recall any difference she had noticed in Fiona.
"If I am right. I think that day we took the honeymoon party to Jason and Julia's home. Fiona was not having menstrual cramps. She was in labour," Mirenda said and Henry raised his eyebrow.
"I did pick the smell of milk on her one time and she looked different. I remember making a statement to her that if I didn't know better, I would have thought she had had a baby," Mirenda said, holding the baby dress and feeding bottle on display.
"Are you saying Fiona had a hidden pregnancy?" Henry asked and Mirenda just stared at him. "So who is the father?" he asked sounding curious but paused immediately.
"No, I can't believe I allowed you to talk me into this. I am sure Fiona is having a psychological breakdown from the whole past incident. You did mention she was pregnant right?" Henry said and Mirenda nodded.
"And that was when you helped her find James to let him know he was going to be a father, correct?" Henry asked and Mirenda nodded.
"It's been more than ten months since that day. She can't be pregnant for a year. That pregnancy was destroyed while she was with James and it makes sense why she had become inactive and extremely quiet for a once outstanding journalist," Henry submitted and Mirenda couldn't help but accept his analysis and submission that Fiona had bought the baby stuff out of depression.
"Okay, so does it mean she just got up and left? And could probably be walking somewhere lost?" Mirenda asked.
"Possible," Henry replied.
"It's late, but let's look around," Mirenda suggested and Henry nodded.
At the hideout, Black shook his head in disbelief after hearing the story James told Julia.
"You know, that story would sell if Jason was not involved," Black pointed out.
"I know. That smart-ass son of a bitch. He will read in between the lines. I knew Julia believed me. I could tell from the look in her eyes when I was telling her my sad story. I am just counting on Jason's love for her to submit to what will make her happy," James said and Black shook his head.
"Well, one thing is very clear. You are only good at the physical part of plotting crimes and not the psychological part which is long-term. See, you broke out of prison using the opportunity of your baby mama coming over, but I bet you will not be able to plan a prison break," Black said and James threw his hands in the air. "Yeah, for you, you are unable to come up with a plot, you seize opportunities provided to you," Black added.
"Whatever, works for me, anytime. Anyway, what time are we moving?" James asked.
"You still want to leave? I thought you were going to join your mother and her newfound friends to rule the Wellington empire which is flowing with honey and milk," Black said..
"If Jason is still Jason and he has not changed. I will bet you a $100,000 he has moved all the funds and there is no honey and milk in that empire. I thought I could use Julia against him but I realized quickly it was a lost cause when Julia didn't tremble before me like she did in the past. I just need to run while I still have the time. If Julia is no longer naive, I don't expect Jason to be at the same level of intelligence I knew him to have. He has upgraded. I did see a new Jason at the warehouse. There is only wise decision to take after such an encounter, run, " James explained.
"Hmm, well, I am arranging a helicopter. You can book your flight from the next city to wherever you want. That will be a safe way to move," Black said and excused himself.
James stood up and went inside to join Fiona and little Lily. When he entered the room, the baby was still sleeping. He sat down next to the baby with a smile plastered on his face as he stared at the baby's sleeping face. He touched the baby's face gently, examining her features and realized the baby could not breathe properly. He frowned.
"Did you give the child a sleeping pill again?" James asked also realizing the child had been sleeping since they arrived.
"Yes. It was the only way to keep her from crying and attracting unnecessary attention," Fiona replied also lying on another side of the bed and James frowned.
"I told you not to give her any sleeping pills, are you stupid? If anything happens to her, I will kill you myself," James yelled at her and she made a sad face.
James carried the baby and headed for the door ignoring Fiona who appeared not to be bothered. Outside the room, he called out to Black to help him get a doctor ignoring Fiona’s tantrums which she was throwing inside the room as soon as he exited the room with the baby.
"What happened?" Black asked.
"The psycho fed the baby with a sleeping pill," James reported sounding very angry and Black stared.
"Dude, don't just stand there. Call a doctor," James yelled and Black could read the fear and desperation in James's eyes.
"I am on it," Black replied realizing in that brief moment, James cared about the baby.
"You will be fine. I will save you," James whispered to the baby planting kisses on her face.
The doctor arrived after a couple of minutes and James handed the baby to him. He quickly examined the baby and raised his head to look at James.
"What?" James asked looking terrified and trembling to Black’s surprise.
"The child's temperature had dropped significantly and she is having breathing difficulty. I am not sure, but I need to run further tests to confirm my suspicion," the doctor said.
"Confirm what suspicion?" James yelled at him impatiently.
"She may have slipped into a coma," the doctor said and James eyes widened as he began to tremble still surprising Black with his reaction.
"Can you save her?" James asked desperately with pleading eyes.
"Yes, but we need to take her to the hospital immediately. But what happened?" the doctor asked.
"My psycho wife fed her with valium," James announced and started looking around.
"What do you need?" Black asked seeing James was looking for something.
"The car keys, we need to take her to the hospital now," James yelled.
"James, give the child to the doctor. You need to leave this place tonight," Black whispered into James's ears but he will not listen.
"That is my flesh and blood. I am going with her to the hospital," James said and left with the doctor carrying little Lily in his arms.
At the hospital, the baby was sent to the emergency and a reversal treatment started. The child was put under monitoring and James stayed with the baby all through the night till morning.
At the Wellington's apartment, Jane got ready to meet Maria at the Wellington head office. They were done with changing things in the house, it was time to make changes at the office. They arrived at the office and called a meeting. After announcing the takeover, Jane requested reports from all the departments. She logged into the system with the password and her eyes widened.
"What happened?" Maria asked seeing the look on Jane's face.
"There is no money," Jane reported.
"Call the bank," Maria said and Jane quickly placed a call to the bank and her eyes widened some more listening to the customer service representative.
"What happened?" Maria asked.
"The listed accounts are all empty. Someone cleaned us out. There is no money," Jane said with widened eyes and Maria froze trying to comprehend what Jane had just told her.
