Let's Strike - Part 2

"Do you not know who I am?" Jane asked.

"I do know who you are ma'am. It's just that the boss tasked me to ensure you are safe and okay," the guard replied and Jane frowned.

"Do I look like I need a babysitter?" Jane growled. "And am I a prison in this house?" she questioned.

"No ma'am," the guard replied respectfully.

"Out of my way before I have my husband terminate your contract," Jane threatened and the guard moved out of her way allowing her to walk out the front door, but he quickly retrieved his phone and sent a text to Mr Wellington.

Boss, ma'am had just stepped out of the house.

At the office, Mr Wellington was sitting behind his desk working on some documents when his phone buzzed with the message notification. He unlocked it and read the message from the guard.

Okay.

He replied to the guard and continued with his work.

James on the other hand, after the online meeting with Jason, went to the IT department and found Jonathan.

"I would like to ask a quick question," James began and Jonathan smiled ready to answer him.

"Go ahead," Jonathan said, with a broad smile.

"Does the boss's wife, I mean Mr Haward, his wife, does she work here?" James asked.

"Ain't you an inquisitive one," Jonathan said playfully and James just smiled.

"Well, she doesn't. She had never been here," Jonathan replied.

"Thank you, Jonathan. Lunch is on me today," James said.

"Hmm, I feel like you are bribing me, and I don't take bribes," Jonathan said.

"It's not a bribe. You are my friend, and I just feel like buying you lunch," James said, shrugging his shoulder.

"In that case, I will take it," Jonathan said with a smile. "Thank you. If you need anything I am your man," he added. "And oh, I know all the good sites where you can get the goodies. You know what I mean," Jonathan said with a wink. "Remember, you can only watch them on your phone," he reminded with a smile.

"Sure," James said with a smile and left Jonathan's office.

James returned to his office and sat behind his desk. He tried to get some work done by applying a little knowledge from what Fiona had taught him, but he was still struggling. The office space was not his thing. He checked his time and it was time for lunch. He scanned the office for any hidden camera but found nothing.

He knew there could be a hidden camera somewhere in his office. He decided he would ask Jonathan during lunch.

Meanwhile, at another location, Jane had just arrived at the place where she was supposed to meet Maria. She scanned the environment and found herself a place to sit while she waited for Maria. She had covered her head with a scarf and had a shade on creating a perfect disguise for herself.

"Good, where is it?" Maria said as soon as she arrived at the scene and sat down next to Jane.

Jane opened her bag and brought out the envelope which she handed over to Maria. Maria peeped into the envelope and pulled the document out a little checking them out.

"Any news on where to find James?" Jane asked.

"His mother will do that. I have already asked her to," Maria replied. "Now you go back home quickly before anyone notices that you have been gone for long," she added.

"Okay," Jane acknowledged and left the place returning to Mr Wellington's home.

Matilda had also moved into the two-bedroom apartment Julia rented for her. She was so annoyed she didn't have access to any money even though all the things she needed had been provided. She was aware James had broken out of prison. She fetched her phone and reached out to one of James's friends.

"I need a favour from you. Perchance can you help me with Black's number," Matilda asked. "That will be great. Thank you," she appreciated and waited for the text message.

Her phone beeped with the message and she smiled. She retrieved the message from her inbox and dialled the number.

"Hello Black, I know you are my son's trusted friend. Per chance has he contacted you since he left prison?" she asked.

"Good, ask him to call me. It's important," Matilda said and ended the call.

She called Maria and waited for the call to connect.

"I found James," Matilda said on the call.

At the Wellington company, James was going back to his office when he received a text from Black informing him his mother wanted to speak with him. In the text was Matilda's number. James quickly dialled her number. He had also been looking for a way to contact her.

"Hello mum," James said.

"Great to hear from you, son," Matilda said. "Where are you?" she asked.

"I am at work," James replied.

"Work? As in office work?" Matilda asked, sounding surprised.

"Yes, I got a job at the Wellington's company as a procurement officer," James replied.

"Is Julia working there?" Matilda asked trying to understand what James was doing in Wellington's company as an employee.

"No," James replied.

"Okay, so what are you doing there?" Matilda inquired.

"Trying to get some information," James replied.

"Well, I met Julia and Jason a couple of days ago and she is no longer that weak naive girl you knew. So if she is your target, be careful," Matilda said.

"I see," James said.

"Anyway, we have a big plan to take down, both the Haward's and the Wellington's. We need you onboard," Matilda said.

"Sure. So where are we meeting?" James asked.

"You will meet with Mr Wellington's wife and her friend. I can't come, Julia is monitoring me," Matilda said.

"Wow!" James said surprised and walked into his office.

"Yeah," Matilda said.

"So I will give your number to them to reach out. I heard you have a new face," Matilda said.

"Sure. It was a little procedure," James said and they spoke a while before the call ended.

"If the two powerful families go down, I will make Julia mine. Let's see how that goes," James thought and smiled.

At Jason's apartment, towards the end of the day, he received a call from the guy he tasked to monitor James.

"He seems like a regular guy except he is reticent. Today, he asked about your wife from the IT guy. Next, he spoke with someone on the phone he addressed as his mum. I followed him and he dropped off at a club," the guy announced.

"Hmmm," Jason thought already feeling that must be James.

"Okay, thank you. Keep an eye on him," Jason said and ended the call.

"So, is it yeah, or naa, on me going back to work?" Julia asked and Jason stared at her.

"Sure, you can go back to work," Jason said and Julia squealed with happiness.

"I am sorry, Julia. I am going to use you as bait for James," Jason thought as he hugged Julia who kept jumping excitedly.

At Southwest Ranches City, Fiona had also just returned from work. She called the nanny to find out if James was home and how the baby was doing.

"Ma'am, it is just me and the baby here," the nanny reported.

"Okay, kindly text me anytime he returns home," Fiona said and ended the call.

She tried calling James's number but it kept going to voicemail. She went upstairs and took a shower. She was exhausted but knew she had to go check on the baby. She exited her room and after informing the security man she was visiting her next-door neighbour, she walked down the pavement to the place she had rented for the nanny. She knocked and entered. The nanny brought the baby to her and she fed her. She spent some time with little Lily and decided it was time to return to her apartment. She put the baby in the cot and headed for the door. The moment she opened the door, she came face to face with James holding the hand of a half-naked woman. Fiona frowned.

Meanwhile, at a different location, Maria was on a call with someone making some changes to the documents Jane had delivered to her.

"I want to change the ownership of all the property from Jason Wellington to Jane Wellington," she instructed. "I want this to be authentic as much as possible. I want this to be ready by tomorrow," she added before ending the call.

"Oh Mr Wellington, you wait and see," Maria said with a smile.
