Breaking News: Mrs Matilda Haward Freed

Days went by and Jane was doing very well. Even though it was conclusive that her condition was a result of the chemical from the sachet she had put in the water, they could not tell what kind of chemical it was. Dr Andesh took it upon herself to further investigate the chemical. Mr Wellington was just happy he didn't lose his wife. He was just happy she was recovering very well.

Jason had double the security in his house to ensure there was no chance of James getting to Julia or his son. Mirenda and Henry had put a hold on their wedding preparation until they had confirmed James had left the country after breaking out from prison.

The police were also searching everywhere for James but he was nowhere to be found. It was as if the moment he broke out of prison, he vanished into theme air. There were no records in any of the airports that he had travelled out of the country by air. The Marines had also reported back after weeks that no one with such a description had made use of their services. All the roads and borders had been blocked and there was that constant checking for James but still nothing.

This was a scary moment for Mirenda who was afraid a big celebration would bring James out to mess up their lives and hence their reason for the hold on their wedding. Julia put up a strong front but she was living in constant fear of James appearing from anywhere to torment her. Jason had decided to work from home until further notice. He sent Peter to the office to pick up things he needed and had all his meetings online. Business partners were equally met online for discussions that require face-to-face meeting.

Vera had washed her hands off taking care of little Lily, Fiona was forced to rent an apartment close by and hired the service of a nanny to take care of little Lily. Now Fiona was not so far away from her baby like when baby Lily was with Vera, and also not living with her to be caught by Mirenda's unannounced visits. Everyone was too focused on James to notice anything off about Fiona who appeared to have curled into her shell since she was set free from prison.

On the other hand, Emily had managed to reopen Mrs Haward's case in court for a new investigation and gathering of evidence. She went to visit Mrs Haward to update her on the findings.

"So how is everything looking?" Mrs Haward asked anxious to hear the good news concerning the proceedings.

"Positive. The police had gone back to the place of crime, Mr Taga's, to run another investigation to pick up what they missed," Emily informed her.

"So how did you pull that off? The first report has it that I was Mr Taga's accomplice in the kidnap of Julia,that child from my husband's adultery," Mrs Haward asked with so much anger in her voice.

"Lucky for you, you were just at the scene and had nothing to do with the kidnap of Julia. Mr Taga did all of that. You were just in the house," Emily said and leaned in to whisper the rest of the information to Mrs Haward. "We planted evidence to make it look like you were a victim too in the situation," she said and Mrs Haward frowned.

"I went to Mr Taga for his help in getting the property back in my name. Won't that implicate me if they get that piece of information?" Mrs Haward asked trying to ensure she was getting cleared from all allegations levelled against her.

"I know," Emily said. "And I have already prepared a good reply for that. We all need help. Jason and his father took everything away from you. I was able to pull some records which showed that, Jason and his father just threw you out onto the street with nothing. There are records of your account details changed into another person's name. You only went to Mr Taga because of his relationship with your husband to help you with some money to take care of your basic needs. There is no crime there. However, this is where I changed the narrative. There is a record of Mr Taga's issue with the Wellington's, and Jason being a Wellington and the missing son of the Wellington's, he felt it was time to take his pound of flesh. This is where he blackmailed you to do his bidding. You only did his bidding to survive. You had no option," Emily explained.

"Perfect," Mrs Haward acknowledged nodded with a smile, and was very impressed by what Emily had put together.

"Once I submit this to the judge, you will be walking free," Emily said with a smile and Mrs Haward smiled back.

The police finally submitted their findings after running another investigation concerning Mrs Haward's reopened case. Emily was there to present what she had gathered and put up her defence for Mrs Haward. The judge after going through all the gathered evidence and listening to Emily's submission, concluded that Mrs Haward was just a victim of circumstance.

"I believe the number of days spent in prison and the various conditions she was subjected to is enough punishment to compensate for her negligence. It will be fair if you reconsider your verdict," Emily raised and the Judge went through all her submissions.

"With the new submissions and findings, it had been made clear that Mrs Matilda Haward was truly a victim of circumstance in the case of Mrs Julia Wellington's kidnap. On this note, Mrs Haward has been cleared of all previous charges and she is now a free citizen of the state by law," the Judge said and hit the table with his hammer.

"My Lord, I would also like to put another request across. Late Mr Johan in his will stated clearly, that the heir of the Haward property would be the one to take care of his wife until her last moment. It appears Mr Jason Wellington had ignored this request from his stepfather even though he happens to be the heir by marrying a Haward. He had deprived Mrs Haward of the basic needs to survive. I would be very happy if the court would get Mr Jason, to honour the request of the Late Mr Johan Haward," Emily submitted.

"Very well," the Judge said and Emily smiled at her achievement.

An order was quickly sent to the prison and Mrs Haward was set free. Emily walked out of the prison with Mrs Haward and Jason received a letter from the court requesting him to honour the will of Mr Johan or give up the position of the heir so that Mrs Haward will take over as the heir as stated in late Mr Johan's will.

The news was soon all over social media as a breaking news announcing that Mrs Matilda Haward had been set free and the basis upon which she was set free was raised bringing Jason back into the picture as the man who was still scheming against the Haward family out of greed.
