Back from Honeymoon Already?
"How long have you been standing there?" Fiona asked moving away from her bed towards the table.
"I don't see how that is relevant to my question. What are you up to Fiona?" Vera retorted.
"What! Are you spying on me now?" Fiona snapped back.
"Watch your tone girl. You piss me off, and I will return your baby to you in a second," Vera warned and Fiona calmed herself immediately.
"I am sorry, dear friend. A lot is happening around me, and it's all driving me crazy. I wasn't expecting that child, but she is here. What am I going to do with it? And now Mirenda has tasked me with some research work. I couldn't say no to her. She is my boss after all. I just tasked someone to research for me. I just wanted it submitted earlier so I could go through it before submission day but it sure looks like the person would only have it ready the same day I am supposed to submit it," Fiona said, and dropped herself on the couch with a sad expression looking like she was at the verge of tears.
Vera sighed and joined her on the couch placing a comforting hand on Fiona's shoulders.
"Look, everything will be alright. We will figure out what to do. Don't work yourself up. The baby is here and accepting that will do away with some of the stress. I am here for you," Vera comforted as she believed her explanation.
Vera didn't hear much so she believed Fiona's explanation and felt sorry for her. She had earlier thought Fiona would use this as a reason to go to James since she had not been the same since James was put behind bars, but, after hearing her explanation she felt she was overthinking and overlooking the fact that Fiona was going through a lot as she didn't expect to have a baby.
"Thanks," Fiona appreciated, happy to have dodged the bullet.
"Where is the baby?" Fiona asked wondering who was caring for the baby if Vera was here.
"I left her with a day nanny," Vera replied. "I just came around to check on you," she added and Fiona smiled hugging Vera.
At the Wellington apartment, Julia was still in bed but Jason was up and out of the room already. The sound of her phone ringing woke her up from sleep. Julia stretched her hand and fetched the phone from the bedside table.
"Hello," she said while lying on the bed, but she was met with silence. "Hello, can you hear me?" she asked but was again met with silence.
She could hear someone breathing as if the person wanted her to know, the silent response was deliberate.
"Please who is this?" Julia questioned sitting up, but was still met with no response except the breathing sound of the person.
She frowned and ended the call. Just then Jason walked in. He frowned seeing the worried expression on Julia's face. He walked to the bed and sat on the edge.
"What troubles you, my love?" Jason asked calmly even though he sounded like he was giving a military command, but Julia was used to that and hence wasn't bothered.
"Since we got here, this strange number has been calling. Sometimes three to four times a day but says nothing. I can only hear the person breathing, but he or she would not speak. I tried calling the number a couple of times, but the person answered and did not say anything. He or she breathes into the speaker loudly," Julia complained.
"Let me see," Jason said, and Julia gave her phone to Jason showing Jason the number.
Jason checked her call history and realized within two days, the strange number had called Julia sixteen times and each call lasted for a minute. He also saw three calls from Julia to the number and the call lasted the same one minute. Jason retrieved his phone from his pocket and dialled a number.
"Hello, I just texted a number to you. Get me the details of the person who owns the number," Jason said and ended the call.
"We will know soon who wants to trouble my wife," Jason said to Julia after ending the call. "Now freshen up, and let's go downstairs for breakfast. It is a few minutes to 9," he added and Julia smiled.
"Thank you," she appreciated and got down from the bed after planting a kiss on Jason's cheek.
Jason watched her walk towards the bathroom and he smiled. He wondered if he would have ever married if his marriage with her was never arranged. He also wondered if he would ever have met her if they didn't get married the way they did. He was grateful to Mr Johan Haward for one thing, Julia Harrison. He brought a special woman into his life. He got up from the bed and walked to the baby cot to check on little Jason. He was sleeping peacefully after waking up multiple times all through the night until about 4 am. Jason smiled and planted a kiss on little Jason's forward before exiting the room to see if the breakfast table was ready. Julia joined him later after putting the baby in the baby's nest and tasking Mary to look after him. She and Jason had their breakfast, talking about the baby. Jason's phone buzzed and it was from Henry.
"Hello Henry, how are you?" Jason said on the call.
"Good," Henry replied.
"And how is my sister, Mirenda?" Jason asked.
"She is good," Henry replied. "You are the elder brother of Mirenda and the only relative she has now. I would like to ask for your blessing for her hand in marriage," he said, and Jason smiled making Julia smile curiously.
"I know you will make her happy and would also take good care of her. You have my blessings," Jason said, and a wide smile appeared on Julia's face knowing what that meant.
"Do let me know when you guys fix a date for the engagement party," Jason added and the call ended.
"Let me guess, Henry proposed?" Julia said with a smile.
"Yes, he did," Jason confirmed.
"That is amazing. They make a fine couple, and I am so happy for Mirenda," Julia said excitedly.
They finished their breakfast, spent some time by the poolside and took a walk in the garden with the baby. After, they went to the movie room and watched a couple of movies together with the baby. Jason planned a surprise dinner for two and Mary was tasked to attend to the baby while Jasn and Julia had a candlelight dinner on the rooftop.
After the dinner, they danced to a piece of cool music and Julia couldn't ask for anything better. The night was beautiful and they both went to bed wrapped in each other's arms lost in passion. Julia didn't receive any call from the stranger and she appears to have been lost in the day's activities and the good news from Henry.
The next day, Monday morning, Julia woke up and realized Jason had packed all their stuff. It has only been three days and they are leaving already.
"My love, is everything alright?" Julia asked, but Jason said nothing and kept packing.
"Why are we leaving?" Julia asked but was still ignored by Jason.
She realized quickly Jason was angry and decided not to bother him any further.
"I will get the baby," Julia said.
"Don't worry, Mary already did that, and she is waiting downstairs. Go freshen up. We are leaving?" Jason said coldly and Julia just nodded wondering what was going on.
She knew better not to push him any further as this would piss him off. She still recalls his words from the first time they met. 'If I ask a question, you answer and you do as I say,'. Jason might be all loving and caring now but she didn't want to do anything that would bring back the old Jason. She took her bath wondering what was going on and why Jason was so angry. In a few minutes, they left the Wellington apartment downtown and returned to Jason's apartment.
"I will be back," Jason said to Julia and exited the apartment leaving Julia and Mary to unpack their stuff with the help of the servants.
"Ma'am, what happened?" Mary asked, but Julia just shrugged her shoulders.
"I don't know?" Julia replied honestly.
"I was sleeping when he knocked on my door and asked me to pack my stuff. I had just finished dressing up when he brought the baby to me together with his stuff," Mary narrated.
At the Wellington's company, Mr Wellington was on a call with someone when Jason just barged into his office drawing his attention to the door. Mr Wellington frowned at first but seeing it was Jason, his face softened and he ended the call greeting Jason with a smile.
"Let me call you back," Mr Wellington said ending the call while smiling at Jason who rather appeared to be carrying a cold expression.
"Back from the honeymoon already?" Mr Wellington asked jokingly knowing Jason is a workaholic.
"When were you planning on telling me?" Jason threw the question at him making Mr Wellington frown.
He dismissed the guards in his office making them close the door behind them with an instruction not to be disturbed.
"What happened Jason? What are you talking about?" Mr Wellington asked hoping it was not what he was thinking as his smile vanished from his face.
"When were you planning on telling me, my mother was still alive?" Jason said and Mr Wellington froze staring at him.
"How did he find out?" This was the question on Mr Wellington's mind as he stared at Jason who appeared to be very angry.
"Is it that Dr Andesh was getting old and hence losing her skills of ensuring what is supposed to be hidden remains hidden, or Jason was just good?" another thought ran through Mr Wellington's mind as the silence in the room became deafening.
"I want an explanation as to why you kept this from me," Jason said and made himself comfortable on the couch staring at Mr Wellington who appears not to know where to start his story from.
