Hospital
"We found Ms Julia. She is being sent to the hospital now," the officer said and paused not sure how to reply to Mr Wellington's question about finding his wife as everyone knew she was dead and buried.
"Which hospital?" Jason asked.
"The general hospital," replied one of the officers and Jason just headed for his car.
Mr Wellington was about to sit in his car with Dr Andesh when his wife was brought to the scene unharmed but looking very messy. Dr Andesh's eyes widened and her jaw dropped unable to close. Mr Wellington took slow steps towards the woman and looking into her eyes asked.
"Are you my wife?" Mr Wellington asked and the woman lowered her head nodding a yes.
"What did I do right after our marriage?" Mr Wellington asked trying to confirm if she was truly his wife and not some look-alike.
"You fell asleep in the middle of a love-making session on our first day of the honeymoon," Mrs Wellington replied softly so that only Mr Wellington could hear her.
Mr Wellington's eyes became waterer and he hugged her.
"How? What happened?" Mr Wellington asked trying to find out how she was still alive.
The officers soon exited the huge gate with Mr Taga who had some bruises on his face with a fractured nose in handcuff together with Mrs Haward also in handcuff. Just before they could be put into the police car, Mirenda and Henry arrived at the scene with reporters. The reporters wasted no time in taking pictures and asking multiple questions.
"This is a live stream from one Mr Taga's mansions. I understand there was a kidnapping of Mr Jason's wife and a demand was made. Ms Julia has been rescued from the situation alongside another woman who looks like Mr Wellington's late wife. We'll share more details with you," came the voice of one of the reporters.
Mr Wellington sat down in his car together with his wife, doing very well to avoid reporters. Henry walked up to Peter who was driving to get through the reporters.
"Where is Mr Jason and his wife?" asked Henry and Peter replied with the name and location of the hospital.
"What happened?" Mirenda who was closely behind Henry asked upon hearing 'hospital'.
"Babe, let's go I will tell you on the way," Henry said pulling her towards the car they had come in.
After a few minutes, they all left the compound towards the hospital. At the general hospital, Julia was sent straight to the emergency. She had passed out upon arrival. The medical team quickly surrounded her examined her bullet wound and quickly tended to her. Jason arrived at the scene just in time to see Julia being pushed into the emergency unit.
"Please take care of her and the baby," Jason said upon seeing Julia lying on a stretcher unconscious with blood stains in her gown.
Peter, Dr Andesh, Henry and Mirenda arrived at the scene. Jason was standing in the waiting area quietly with a baseball cap on together with a nose mask. The doctor walked in and requested Jason's presence. The doctor walked with Jason separating him from the rest.
"The bullet scratched her side upon impact. There has been some bleeding but we have been able to get her blood. It appears the baby is fine but we will run a couple of tests to confirm," said the doctor.
"Do whatever you can to ensure my wife and child are both safe," Jason requested in a low voice but with authority.
The doctor acknowledged and left the scene. Dr Andesh quickly walked up to Jason and the rest drew closer. She asked Jason what Julia's situation was like and Jason repeated what the doctor had said to him.
"Bro, Julia may be a crying baby but she is strong. She and the baby will make it through," Mirenda encouraged.
"hmmm," Jason responded and moved away from them staring at the direction the doctor had left.
Meanwhile, back at Mr Wellington's apartment, Mr Wellington was sitting in the living room with his wife after multiple hugs.
"Tell me, what happened," Mr Wellington said.
"I had to do this, I am sorry," Mrs Wellington began and tears streamed down her face.
"I am happy to see you. My heart had gone through years of pain. I had always wished to see you so I am happy that has happened today," Mr Wellington said and she smiled weakly. "Okay so tell me, what exactly happened?" he asked again.
Mrs Wellington closed her eyes and recalled that day at the hospital.
"I was not sick, the medical report was fake. I was coming from a clothing store when I ran into Mr Taga, Benjamin's father at the parking lot," she began and paused to stop her tears. "Please forgive me," she pleaded.
"I am holding nothing against you, and I have already forgiven you," said Mr Wellington.
"A couple of days before that, I... I .. " Mr Wellington began and swallowed hard. "I was with another man," she dropped the statement quickly.
"What!" exclaimed Mr Wellington standing to his feet and she quickly knelt holding his leg.
"I was drugged. I didn't do it intentionally. When I woke up, It had already happened and Mr Taga was at the door of the hotel. He had the video," Mrs Wellington said all in one breath.
"Mr Taga drugged you?" Mr Wellington repeated hearing what she just said.
"I don't know but when I opened my eyes with severe headache and next to a man, Mr Taga was the one I saw at the door when I wanted to run out," Mrs Wellington said.
"When did this happen," Mr Wellington asked looking at her with a frown.
"A day before you arrive from your international conference," Mrs Wellington replied and Mr Wellington recalled the day.
He recalled there was something off about her when he arrived. A couple of days later, she was diagnosed with an illness that was said will kill her.
"So Mr Taga blackmailed you," Mr Wellington asked seeing where the story was going.
"He was going to post the video online and I knew it would affect your campaign and make you lose everything. So I agreed to do what he requested so he will not destroy your career," Mrs Wellington said.
"And you think staging the kidnap of your nine-month-old baby and faking your death was a rescue mission? Jane, this is a selfish attitude. You never for once thought of your child whom you had carried for nine months and he was only nine months old. Do you know what your decision led to? Yes, I would have lost everything but I would still have my family, and Jason would have been protected from everything he went through," Mr Wellington said looking at her with a frown.
"I am sorry," Mrs Wellington apologizes still kneeling.
"Jane, sorry will not rectify the years of suffering Jason had to go through. I can deal with the years of mourning over you but what of Jason, you endangered his life. Those horrible people could have done something bad to him," Mr Wellington said.
"Those people only kidnap children for ransom so I thought you would pay and get Jason back," Mrs Wellington defended.
"Stop defending Jane. You didn't think this through. Jason survived by a miracle. If Mr Taga drugged you to get such a video, it was to get to my wealth. So your sacrifice just paved the way for him to achieve that. Jason would not be alive if Mr Haward had not adopted him," Mr Wellington pointed out and she went silent.
"I am very disappointed in you," Mr Wellington said and walked away from her.
"My love," Mrs Wellington called out but Mr Wellington ignored her and exited the apartment.
"Drive," Mr Wellington said to the guard before entering the car.
His wife was right behind him but he ignored her as the car drove out of the compound.
"Go straight to the hospital, I need to be with my son," Mr Wellington instructed and the guard nodded as he drove out of the compound towards the main road.
"My love," Mrs Wellington called out loud but the car did not stop.
At the hospital, the doctor came to Jason one more time.
"Everything is fine and the baby is safe," the doctor said with a smile.
