Chapter 675: The War Ends
Chapter 675: The War Ends
"Mr. Ted, may I ask if it’s possible to merely approach the Moon Well area for observation and make a few simple records?" Duke inquired.
His goal had always been the Moon Well. Even though he didn’t have the opportunity to seize it now, he wanted to see if he could observe it up close.
The risk of sneaking over was too high; if he could approach and observe through proper channels, that would naturally be best.
As for the surrounding scattered potential resources, he wasn’t very interested.
Because these resources weren’t immediately necessary to him, the Moon Well was the most important.
Master Ted, hearing Duke’s inquiry, showed a hint of contemplation on his stern face.
His sharp gaze lingered for a moment on Duke’s seemingly weary yet persistent face, as if evaluating his true intentions.
"Just observation and recording?" Master Ted’s voice was emotionless, "The battle in the Moon Well area hasn’t completely ended, and the core area remains dangerous. Lord Vika and several other Level 2 Peak colleagues are handling the final resistance. Approaching now requires permission and is inherently risky."
He paused, his tone shifting slightly, "However... once that side is thoroughly cleared and the formal capturing of the Moon Well begins, the situation will be different. By then, the main threats will have been removed, and Lord Vika may allow a few colleagues with special reasons or an interest in energy research to observe and record under strict supervision. After all, fully capturing a Level 1 Moon Well itself is a rare practical lesson in energy manipulation."
Master Ted looked Duke up and down, "If you genuinely just want to observe and record, learning the techniques of energy stripping and stable storage, and not harbor any other intentions," he looked at Duke meaningfully,
"I could try, after the battle ends, to apply to Lord Vika for a position as a perimeter observer on the grounds of assisting with analysis of residual energy fields and accumulating data for subsequent Energy Well construction. After all, with the title of Commerce Association’s alchemy consultant, this reason is fairly legitimate.
Moreover, as far as I know, you have the status of a Limit Breaker, which should afford you some leniency."
Duke immediately nodded, displaying a look of mixed curiosity and gratitude on his face, "Thank you, Mr. Ted! I am indeed very interested in energy field changes and stable structures, and being able to observe and learn on-site would be very beneficial for me. I’m willing to wait until the battle completely ends."
Ted Master nodded slightly, "Then stay freely active in this area, but don’t stray far. When the core area’s signal comes, I’ll inform you."
Having said that, he did not speak further, turning to head in the direction of Elwin, clearly intending to take this member back first while also paving the way for Duke’s subsequent observation.
Duke watched Master Ted leave, feeling slightly relieved. This outcome was better than he had expected.
He didn’t stray from the area, casually searching for some usable resources and materials nearby.
In fact, there weren’t many good findings; anything valuable wouldn’t remain until now, mostly remnants without much significance to him.
So Duke simply found a relatively safe place and drank some recovery potions to restore Magic Power and Spiritual Power.
Time passed as he waited, with Ellistere’s pale purple moonlight gently enveloping the land scarred by battle.
The resistance in the core area grew weaker, finally, about two hours later, following a stronger energy burst and exclamations, everything became completely quiet.
Another half hour later, a message from the Star Dome Crystal arrived, it was from Master Ted: "You can come over now, to the eastern perimeter of the core area, I’ll be waiting at the marked spot. Remember, just look, don’t ask questions, don’t touch anything, record using Spiritual Power or image crystal, avoid any magic that might interfere with the energy field."
Duke felt a surge of energy, immediately getting up and quietly moving in the direction indicated by Master Ted.
Soon, he arrived at the edge of the core area.
The Slave Legion’s encirclement was still tight here, but the atmosphere had changed.
Most Wizards bore expressions of relaxation mixed with slightly tired excitement after the battle, chatting in small groups, inventorying the spoils piled aside, primarily Elven creations and materials looted from tree forts and burrows, along with some well-preserved Moon Well Water Essence.
Master Ted stood on a patch of ground that had been specially cleared, accompanied by three or four other Wizards, who seemed somewhat aged or possessed a research-oriented demeanor.
Vika wasn’t present, evidently still overseeing the most crucial capturing work by the Moon Well.
Seeing Duke arrive, Master Ted nodded to him, indicating for him to stand behind, then whispered a few words to a middle-aged Wizard beside him, seemingly an assistant to Vika.
That middle-aged Wizard glanced at Duke, then at Master Ted, finally nodding and handing Duke a small metal badge engraved with the Star Dome Commerce Association’s emblem, "Wear it visibly, it allows you to observe within the designated area, do not exceed the designated boundaries, do not make loud noises, and do not cast any Magic. Lord Vika has granted you this observation privilege, do not cause trouble."
"Understood, thank you, sir." Duke respectfully accepted the metal badge, hanging it on his chest, then stood behind Master Ted, gazing at the core area marked by a light trace.
At this moment, the scene in the Moon Well area was different from before.
The most solid tree forts had been completely breached, with the bodies of the last few resistors lying at the entrance, being dragged away by slave creatures.
Around the wellhead, all the glyphs originally carved by the Night Elf had been completely erased or covered.
Vika and two other deep aura Level 2 Wizards were standing by the wellhead, with several exquisite alchemy instruments and detection crystals, glowing in various colors, floating in front of them.
The well water shimmered with a pearl-like glow, which seemed dimmer and more restless than usual, as if it had lost some kind of anchor, its energy becoming unstable.
Vika’s expression was grave, holding a crystal panel with continuously changing data, quickly exchanging words with a Wizard in an engineering department uniform, who was operating a complex multi-armed machine.
The tips of several arms on that multi-armed machine, each connected to probes and energy conduits of different shapes, were slowly and steadily extending toward the lower part of the wellhead.
"Commence energy network mapping, initiate Level 1 stabilization protocol," Vika ordered.
The probes emitted soft hums, their tips lighting up with subtle glows.
The surface of the well water exhibited regular waves as if combed by an invisible comb, with the detection crystal immediately displaying a complex, ever-changing three-dimensional energy network map.
