Chapter 621: Sand Soldier

The sand soldiers held giant war axes or spears, also made of sand grains, and in the place of their eye sockets, two slowly rotating dark red glows coldly gazed at the intruder, Duke.

However, the sand grain spear bizarrely bypassed the shield’s frontal defense, piercing from a tricky angle.

The speed and angle were extremely dangerous, difficult for an ordinary person to respond to.

But the automatic defense counterattack characteristic of the Sand Guardian manifested again, with a shield formed of metallic yellow sand instantly taking shape, blocking the attack from the tricky angle.

Duke tapped lightly with his foot, his figure floatingly retreating.

The Light Arrow, containing light attribute power, was invincible against dark and undead creatures.

However, after hitting the sand giant, it only caused a slightly larger pit to explode on its chest, the dark red glow flickered, and then more sand flowed, quickly filling the gap.

The light attribute power contained in the Light Arrow seemed to disappear into thin air, having little effect on these creatures purely composed of sand and soil.

"The effect of light attribute magic is typical, let’s try fire attribute next." Duke’s fingertip ignited with explosive flames, a giant Fireball whistled out, exploding on another giant.

The flames erupted, engulfing the upper half of the giant.

The high temperature caused the sand surface to appear vitrified and molten, but within the giant, it seemed there was an endless supply of sand to replace the molten parts and cool down.

The flames, containing enormous energy, also failed to inflict fatal damage.

Duke tried other attribute magic, all producing minimal results.

"These creatures have strong resistance, even partial immunity, to conventional elemental magic." Duke’s heart sank, instantly understanding the toughness of these guardians.

They seemed able to disperse, absorb, and even assimilate most energy attacks through the special sand grains that formed their bodies.

This trait is similar to some energy absorption characteristics he possesses, having a similar effect.

Although physical attacks can cause damage, their regeneration speed is extremely fast unless instantaneously inflicted with a devastating blow.

Even though Duke was now a first-level knight, his strength was clearly insufficient to deal with the three sand soldiers, relying on physical attacks was far from enough.

Duke’s gaze fell on the ground beneath them and the sand grains composing their bodies.

"Sand... Earth..." A thought flashed through his mind.

Just then, the three sand giants charged again, their attacks simple yet effective, their massive weapons and fists blocking Duke’s escape space.

Duke’s thought moved, the metallic sand originally used for defense, seemed to be imbued with life and will, no longer merely forming into a shield, but suddenly expanding and transforming.

Half the sand still formed a barrier protecting himself, the other half twisted like two sand serpents, roaring out along his arms, not attacking the giant’s body, but piercing into the ground beneath its feet and entwining its striking arms.

Magic power flowed continuously into the metallic yellow sand, a strong gravitational anomaly exploded centered on Duke and the giant.

Utilizing his gravity manipulation ability over yellow sand and powerful Earth Elemental Affinity Talent, he primarily affected the core sand grains of the giant’s body, infiltrating the ground beneath it and its arms.

The giant’s striking movement suddenly stalled, as if its arms had suddenly become several times heavier.

More critically, the ground beneath its feet infiltrated by the Sand Guardian, under the layered gravitational influence, instantly became soft and collapsing like quicksand.

Simultaneously, the metallic yellow sand entwining its arms frantically absorbed the energy of sand grains composing its arm and its structural stability.

The sand soldier’s balance was disrupted, its massive body involuntarily began to sink downward, and the sand grain structure of its arms became loose, showing signs of being assimilated and stripped away.

"They are immune to most energy attacks, but the sand composing their bodies can seemingly be influenced, even controlled, by more advanced Earth Elemental power, especially when this power acts directly on their bodies and footing."

Watching the giant struggling trapped in quicksand, inefficiently trying to reorganize under the gravitational anomaly and the devouring of metallic yellow sand, Duke knew he had found a way to deal with these monsters.

These sand soldiers, almost having magic immunity, are extremely troublesome for Wizards, unless they are Bloodline Mage or Mechanical Wizard, who do not rely solely on energy-type magic for attacking.

The recovery and energy immunity ability of these sand soldiers is too strong, probably related to these ruins.

When sand soldiers are within these ruins, they gain additional power enhancements, possessing stronger recovery capabilities.
