Chapter 287: Fen’s Rough Treatment
Chapter 287: Fen’s Rough Treatment
This guy’s body is surprisingly sturdy... Fen swallowed, her cheeks slightly flushed, and slowly pushed the syringe, injecting the liquid into Chen Qi drop by drop.
It hurt! Chen Qi gritted his teeth, forcing himself to endure the pain.
After a short while, a conspicuous little blood hole appeared on his back.
Fen’s medical methods were far more brutal than he had imagined... Chen Qi was taken aback; he almost forgot that Fen’s profession was an Alchemist, not a professional doctor.
“Don’t move—”
Saying that, Fen forcefully supported Chen Qi’s head with her hand, lifting it, and then poured a bottle of green potion directly into his mouth.
Gulp, gulp—
Her methods were extremely rough, and she even gave his kidney area the occasional hard pat.
Such force!
If it weren’t Fen, Chen Qi would have suspected this was some unlicensed black-market doctor trying to harvest his kidneys.Immediately after, she took out a new anesthetic and continued the injections.
As the anesthetic was injected, Chen Qi closed his eyes and his bodily sensations gradually dulled.
Since he couldn’t resist, he might as well accept it...
Chen Qi no longer fought against the pain.
Then she took out an external application potion and smeared it over the areas burned by the black lightning.
Next came various other medicinal injections.
Fen was not a professional doctor and lacked tools for treating severe internal injuries; the treatment she used was a potion-based therapy.
Essentially, she relied on injections of concoctions to achieve healing.
When the procedure finished, exhausted Fen handed Chen Qi his clothing, stood up wearily, and felt an indescribable sense of accomplishment:
“How’s it feel? Comfortable now?”
Finally better... Chen Qi opened his eyes, stood up, and wiped the green liquid from the corner of his mouth.
A warm force gently supported his body; all the heaviness and discomfort slowly faded. The pains that had kept him awake at night, tossing and turning, now felt blurred and distant, like they were covered by a soft mist—no longer sharp or unbearable.
“Very comfortable—would’ve been better if it were gentler—”
Chen Qi quipped.
“It was gentle enough.”
Fen pouted, little yellow flowers of happiness sprouting from her head, the gloom on her face clearing away:
“But Qi, I’m not a professional doctor. This was just a basic procedure. To fully recover you’ll need a period of potion therapy.
By the way, your Sea Beast Disease is a hidden danger. With your current condition you can already undergo flesh-and-blood surgery, but you’d better find a professional doctor...”
Chen Qi moved his limbs and put his shirt back on:
“Mm, thanks.”
Fen blushed as she handed some green potions to Chen Qi:
“Take these on schedule. To fully recuperate you’ll need at least two weeks of treatment. During that time, you shouldn’t activate any Release or use techniques harmful to your body.”
Two weeks without fighting...? Chen Qi frowned as he accepted the potions:
“Understood.”
Having resolved Chen Qi’s physical issues, Fen exhaled a long breath. Now she finally remembered to ask about what had happened to him.
Why had Chen Qi appeared here? What happened after they separated?
Fen curiously asked about the events.
“It’s a long story.”
Chen Qi told her how he had teamed up with the White Tower Hunters to go to Blue Fire Island, defeated Bonfire Energy Company’s Exploration Vessel, seized the Deep Blue Fire, and claimed the Deep Sea Hunter treasure.
Fen listened, small black surprised flowers popping from her head!
She had been here collecting mushrooms and blossoms, while Chen Qi’s group had actually been fighting Bonfire Energy Company!
For a moment Fen didn’t know whether Bonfire Energy Company was weak, the White Tower Hunters were strong, or Chen Qi himself was simply powerful.
Fen sniffed and realized, to her astonishment, that Chen Qi’s spiritual energy field was stronger than when they had parted!
This rate of growth was rare even on the Rift Sea, rich as it was during a Dimensional Tide!
Could Qi be a genius stronger than me? Could he already be stronger than I am now? Fen was a little stunned:
“So Qi, you mean you got a Deep Sea Hunter treasure.”
“Yes. One was the Sword of the Lake, which I’ve already digested. The other was a Deep Sea Hunter’s treasure chest, but I haven’t been able to crack the cipher lock on it yet.”
Chen Qi said, producing the little Deep Sea Hunter chest.
Given their relationship and Chen Qi’s Deep Sea Affinity, there was no need to hide anything from Fen.
Curiosity flashed in Fen’s eyes:
“A cipher lock? Let me see. My teacher taught me some ways to decode ciphers...”
“Oh? Fen, you know that?”
Chen Qi brightened and handed over the chest.
Fen took the chest and translated the cipher markings one by one:
“Smear one liter of Great Whale blood over this chest, then burn the chest with Deep Blue Fire, and the chest will open...”
I see—that’s the complete way to open the chest... Chen Qi took the chest back and fell into thought.
He had the Deep Blue Fire, but not enough Great Whale blood.
The black whale blood they had obtained before was Great Whale blood; most of it had been used by Fen for experiments.
He’d have to get some fresh black whale blood... Chen Qi asked:
“Fen, during your adventures did you get any fresh black whale blood?”
“No...”
Fen said despondently.
“Looks like I’ll have to get some.”
Chen Qi planned.
Black whale blood commonly appears on distorted pitch-black sea beasts; creatures fully infected by black whale blood go utterly berserk.
There were plenty of sea beasts infected by black whale blood, but finding those monsters still required a good deal of luck.
Fortunately, Chen Qi now possessed Deep Sea Detection, greatly improving his ability to locate distorted monsters on the sea.
This guy must not be worrying about me—he’s thinking about how to get more black whale blood... Fen tapped Chen Qi’s head with a small fist, wearing a serious expression:
“Hunting monsters infected by black whale blood is extremely dangerous! And your wounds aren’t healed yet, don’t be reckless. You must rest. Come with me.”
Fen took the lantern and led Chen Qi to her small hidden base on the Dragonflower Archipelago.
“Okay.”
Chen Qi agreed helplessly, but he did need to recuperate and digest his newfound power.
Helping Fen advance to Legendary sooner was also one of his goals.
Chen Qi thought a bit—he might as well rest for a while and help Fen collect some rare medicinal herbs.
...
Seven days later, on an unnamed islet of the Dragonflower Archipelago.
Under a pleasant sea breeze, Fen and Chen Qi were collecting herbs.
Chen Qi stood at the shoreline, plucked a seablue flower from the edge, and handed it to the Deepsea Water Spirit No.1 behind him.
“Finally finished collecting. With Fen’s daily applications, my body is mostly healed now.”
Chen Qi wiped the sweat from his brow.
Over these days, relying on Fen’s newly produced potions, not only had his injuries improved, his constitution had increased by five points.
He was almost ready to cause trouble again.
Then Chen Qi lightly stepped onto the sea surface; his inspiration spread along the seawater, reaching far out.
Among countless schools of fish, a swordshark exuding terrifying jet-black spiritual energy caught his attention.
“Finally caught one...”
Chen Qi grinned excitedly, then quietly tossed out a Supernatural Bait.
To his surprise, under the Smiling Moon, these sea beasts tainted by black whale blood had completely lost their reason; they were like emotionless killing machines, slaughtering everything in sight, relentlessly pursuing tasty prey.
Even Deep Sea Affinity had difficulty working against monsters thoroughly polluted by black whale blood and the Smiling Moon.
Tempted by the bait, in an instant the black swordshark locked onto him, accelerating through the sea like a rocket, gaping its blood-filled maw as it rushed toward Chen Qi.
Clang—
A flash of cold light!
Chen Qi drew his blade in one clean slash, neatly cutting the black swordshark in two.
The shark’s base strength was weak; after corruption it only had a second-tier Supernatural strength.
“A free delivery!”
Chen Qi squatted and extracted fresh Great Whale blood from the shark’s body.
After so many days, he finally had the black whale blood needed to open the chest!
It was time to open it! Let’s see what you hid, Deep Sea Hunter!
Excited, Chen Qi held the little chest in his hands, smeared the black whale blood over the Deep Sea Hunter chest, and ignited it with Deep Blue Fire.
Sizzle!
Quickly, the entire chest burst into flames!
The chest, like a shell, slowly opened...
“Let me see what’s inside?”
Chen Qi grew excited, and Fen in the distance also looked over curiously.
In the next instant, a blue light shot out—
Then dozens of massive, slick tentacles burst forth from the chest, lashing out and tightly coiling around Chen Qi’s head.
“Huh?”
Fen in the distance was stunned.
