Chapter 910: He Escaped
Chapter 910: He Escaped
What you think about during the day, you dream of at night. He knows that he has these bizarre dreams because he worries about her too much, but whenever he recalls the happenings in the dreams, he still feels anxious for her.
Yet, in his urgency and worry, the flight he was on got delayed again and again due to the weather. When it finally took off, it had to fly to another city first before he could transfer to Fort City.
The deep, dark eyes revealed emotions without any concealment.
He looked at her with tenderness mixed with a hint of loneliness. There was a barely noticeable smile on his lips, but no trace of it in his eyes.
Being looked at like this, Scarlett Yates suddenly had the illusion that she was somehow at fault.
Usually, only someone hurt in love would show such a contradictory expression.
Uncomfortable with his gaze, Scarlett Yates stood up abruptly.
She changed the topic: "Are you full? I’ll go get someone to bring the bill."
After speaking, she didn’t give him a chance to respond, pushed the chair aside, and turned to head towards the service desk.
After taking two steps, she ran into a waiter and returned with them.

Once the bill was settled, Scarlett Yates couldn’t wait to urge Maxwell Saxon for news about Matthew Saxon.
When she mentioned Matthew Saxon, Maxwell Saxon’s expression turned rather displeased, his eyes darkened, and he reluctantly said, "He escaped."
Scarlett Yates’ heart jumped quickly and heavily and then plummeted back into the distance.
She wanted to ask for more details, but as soon as Maxwell Saxon dropped those words, he started to walk away.
Upon hearing this news, Scarlett Yates became unsettled.
There was no way she could just let Maxwell Saxon leave, so she jogged to catch up with him, following him out of the restaurant.
"Escaped? Maxwell Saxon, wasn’t your place heavily guarded? How did he escape?"
"You didn’t know?" Maxwell Saxon suddenly turned around, lowered his head, curved his lips into a cold smile and said, "Scarlett, you knew he could leave that place all along. That’s why you stayed at my place so calmly without making a fuss, isn’t it?"
Scarlett Yates lied, "I didn’t know, he didn’t say anything to me."
"Oh?" Maxwell Saxon was clearly skeptical, "Then how could you eat and sleep well, looking so carefree, without fearing I’d silence him for good?"
"Because I know you wouldn’t do that." Scarlett Yates looked him straight in the eye with a calm demeanor and continued to lie, "Even though you made threats, I believe you’re not that heartless."
Maxwell Saxon was taken aback.
He squinted his eyes for a moment, a complex expression flashed across his eyes, and hesitantly asked, "Do you really not know about his plan?"
Scarlett Yates pretended to be angry, raised her head, curved her lips into a cold smile, and spoke harshly, "If you don’t believe what I say, then there’s no point in asking. Whatever I say, you won’t believe it anyway."
"Maxwell Saxon, this is your true purpose for coming to Fort City, isn’t it? You say you were worried about me and wanted to check on me, but it was all fake. Your real motive was to find out from me where Matthew Saxon is hiding now. You think I know all his plans."
"Scarlett, it’s not like that..." Seeing that she misunderstood him, Maxwell Saxon hurriedly explained, "I came here, not for Matthew Saxon’s matters. I believe you were not in the know. If you dislike this topic, we won’t discuss it."
