Chapter 90: Chapter Unlocking New Class, Just Go Ahead and Worship Bai Fu
Bai Fu didn’t know who the game’s original protagonist was, and such a matter no longer seemed all that important to her now.
As long as she became one of the strongest on Origin Star before the protagonist’s flashy version update arrived, then with her popularity among the Players, who would argue if she claimed herself to be the true protagonist?
At worst, she could just implement a dual-protagonist system—no one ever said a story couldn’t have two leads.
Seeing that the reunion at Old Nissen’s tavern hadn’t wrapped up yet, Bai Fu was already at her place playing with Tiny Bai Fu.
The newly acquired skill still needed more practice. If she only tried it on the battlefield, it might end up causing chaos.
“Height: 15 cm. Can shrink down to a minimum of 5 cm. Whether it’s in a pocket or stuffed elsewhere, it’s highly convenient.”
“Even if it’s not used for scouting enemy movements or as a remote bomb, it can still be suddenly pulled out mid-fight and used like a Grenade.”
The only issue was that Bai Fu realized Tiny Bai Fu wasn’t suited to being made into a Prayer Card like the Psionic Shield or Battle Etiquette for Players to buy.
Not because of image problems—she would’ve loved for her image to spread far and wide, to become the number one idol under the stars, or even have her face printed on money.
The real issue was that summoning Tiny Bai Fu cost 50 Psionic Value, and maintaining it consumed an additional 5 per minute. Players who didn’t belong to a Psionic Class could only use it for one minute at most.
What could one minute accomplish?
Not enough time for proper reconnaissance, and not far enough for remote explosions. For ordinary Players, Tiny Bai Fu offered no cost-efficiency at all.
To broaden her market, Bai Fu decided to make a slight change.
She washed her hands and face, then began gambling Cards!
This time, she invested over 30,000 XP before finally obtaining the Prayer Card Blueprints she wanted—
【Generic Card·Eye of the Dark Moon】 and 【Generic Card·Summon Ghost!】
The effect of 【Eye of the Dark Moon】 was to summon a “sticker” resembling the Eye of Heaven emblem from Garden of Silence. Once stuck to a wall, it would function as a fixed surveillance camera.
As for 【Summon Ghost!】, it would call forth a tiny ghost that lasted for one minute. The tiny ghost had no reconnaissance function, but retained the movement and explosion features of Tiny Bai Fu.
In essence, the two Blueprints split the Summon True Spirit skill in two.
Bai Fu named both Cards herself. The latter had no particular meaning, while the former was deliberately made to echo the name of the 1.1 version update, pushing Players to fill in the gaps with their imagination.
After her Card gamble succeeded, she squeezed out some time to manufacture a batch of Psionic Collectors, 【Eye of the Dark Moon】, and 【Summon Ghost!】, planning to release them to the market tomorrow.
While she was crafting, someone knocked on the door.
Bai Fu walked to the entrance and found Old Nissen standing outside.
She opened the door. “No need for thanks, it was a deal between me and Yulia. Honestly, I did my best already, but some of them had already been killed by the Truth Society before I arrived. Nothing I could do. By the way, how’s Yulia now?”
“She’s a bit emotionally unstable. Those people either grew up with her or supported her during hard times. Fortunately, her main self isn’t aware of it yet. But... we’ll see.” Old Nissen shook his head and sighed. “Even though this was a deal between you and Yulia, I still need to thank you. After her father died, I’ve more or less acted as her foster father. I’ve been watching you for a while. You’re strong, but your close-combat skills are somewhat lacking, like...”
Turtle punches.
That was the term floating in Old Nissen’s mind.
He didn’t say it aloud—too demoralizing. “If you don’t mind, I can teach you my combat technique. It’s a legacy passed down by a reclusive desert martial artist.”
Bai Fu received a game prompt.
【Old Nissen is attempting to teach you the essentials of the rare hidden class [Moonlit Dancer (Novice)]. Do you want to learn it?】
Bai Fu was stunned.
She hadn’t expected an extra reward like this after completing Yulia’s request.
Moonlit Dancer?
Good grief, “moon” again. She suspected the Developers had read the Player discussions and were now secretly molding her into the Version Protagonist.
Anyway, better to learn it first. A rare hidden class that compensated for her melee shortcomings—how often did that come by? Old Nissen wasn’t just teaching her the basics either, but the entire set of essentials, enough to reach the Advanced Class tier.
Once she nodded, Old Nissen began explaining the cultivation essentials of 【Moonlit Dancer (Novice)】.
【You have begun studying the essentials. Current progress: 0.1%】
Nearly an hour later, the progress bar finally hit 100%.
【You have unlocked the new class [Moonlit Dancer (Novice)]】
【During your training, you have comprehended new skills [Flowing Light], [Overflowing Radiance]】
【Note: [Moonlit Dancer (Novice)] is a superior replacement for [Unemployed Drifter]. Do you wish to overwrite it?】
“Yes.”
【Class correction in progress (0%...2%...)】
Unemployed Drifter granted 1 Strength, 1 Constitution, and 1 Attribute Point per level. As its superior replacement, Moonlit Dancer granted 1 Strength, 1 Agility, 1 Constitution, and 1 Attribute Point per level. It focused on balanced development in early stages. Upon unlocking the Advancement Class, level-ups would grant 2 Agility, 1 Constitution, 1 Spirit, and 2 Attribute Points.
In essence, Moonlit Dancer was an agility-based class.
After correction, Bai Fu gained an additional 5 Agility, and her attribute panel now looked like—
【Main Class】: Apprentice Psionic Illustrator Lv16 (+10), Moonlit Dancer Lv5, Sharpshooter Lv5
(New!)【Qi】: 135/135
【Stats】: Strength 20, Agility 26, Constitution 81, Intelligence 25, Spirit 27, Inspiration 85
Didn’t look like much change, but that was only because Moonlit Dancer’s level was still low. Once she leveled it a bit more, her Agility would see a huge boost.
High Agility was great—it meant more attacks in less time, better dodging ability, and when all else failed, she could always pull a “you give ruta yo”.
Besides Agility, the two newly unlocked skills also satisfied Bai Fu immensely.
【Flowing Light】: Consumes 5 Qi, forcibly dashes 0–10 meters in the chosen direction. Cooldown: 1 second.
【Overflowing Radiance】: Consumes 20 Qi. For the next 30 seconds, Agility +5. Cooldown: 5 seconds.
God-tier close combat skills.
Tanky, high damage, and lightning fast.
If she encountered a Boss like this while gaming, Bai Fu would definitely curse the Developers. But if the Boss was her...
“Can I be even tankier? I love the look on people’s faces when they’ve hit me forever and then realize I haven’t lost a single drop of HP.”
Bai Fu closed her attribute panel contentedly—only to find Old Nissen staring at her like he’d seen a ghost.
“Is something off?”
Could it be that Old Nissen saw her attribute panel?
Old Nissen’s mood suddenly turned extremely excited: “Genius, an unprecedented genius—you actually mastered it in just one hour! If it had been you in my place back then, the Truth Society wouldn’t have dared to trouble Yulia!”
Bai Fu responded with a humble smile.
Oh come on, not worth mentioning. That’s just how us cheat-enabled folks roll—while you all have to figure things out step by step, we just need to farm XP and read progress bars.
Once Old Nissen calmed down, Bai Fu comforted him: “As long as we’re alive, there’s still a chance to rebuild the ruins. I’ve already rescued Yulia’s relatives and friends. In the coming days, I’m planning to sweep out the Wanderer camps in the Goli Desert completely. After that, I’ll be counting on you to contribute more.”
Old Nissen agreed cheerfully. Perhaps he really should place all his hopes on Bai Fu now.
……
The next day, Bai Fu redecorated Anya’s Mysterious Shop, posting a massive Eye of Heaven emblem from Garden of Silence on the wall. She changed the previously bright style to something more cryptic yet seemingly profound.
The change immediately drew the attention of passing Players.
“Prayer?”
“Each prayer consumes 10 Psionic Value. After praying, you’ll receive one Blessing. Collect enough Blessings to get discounts when purchasing Prayer Cards!”
The Players who figured out the system were stunned by this sudden discount promotion.
Though the discount wasn’t particularly big, compared to other shops where you wouldn’t get a single cent off, Anya’s Mysterious Shop seemed incredibly generous just for offering any discount at all.
Moreover, on closer inspection, it was clearly profitable.
Players who prayed enough could purchase Prayer Cards at a discount and then resell them to others at a slightly lower price than the original—making a profit in the process.
Though this method wouldn’t make much money in the current stage, as the Prayer Cards sold in the shop grew stronger and pricier, these resellers were bound to make a good sum eventually.
“Wuhu, lift-off!”
Many quick-thinking Players were already scheming.
They would never guess that the wool was coming from their own backs—thanks to their Psionic Value, Bai Fu’s cost of creating Prayer Cards dropped significantly. Even after offering discounts, she was still profiting more than before.
This news spread like wildfire. Soon, a large number of Players who had transferred to Psionic Class started flooding in to pray—some even drained their Psionic bars entirely before reluctantly leaving.
During the prayer sessions, some Players noticed two new Prayer Cards in the shop.
【Eye of the Dark Moon】 and 【Summon Ghost!】
【Calling Digging‑Treasure】
【Digging‑Treasure, new materials are here. Time to work.】
The Players from Garden of Silence had already learned to @Excavation‑Princess proactively.
“Coming, coming.”
Upon receiving the call, Excavation‑Princess appeared alongside Calamity Dragon.
Perfect.
While Excavation‑Princess and Calamity Dragon were promoting the new Prayer Cards, Bai Fu had the NPCs within the Garden of Silence faction leak a bit of news to the Players—that she would soon lead all the willing ones in a final assault on the Wanderer camps in the Goli Desert.
Players at Shelter Number 11 or any other Garden of Silence camps were asked to prepare themselves—this battle would be a hard one.
Those not yet in the Goli Desert but wishing to join the Garden of Silence were urged to arrive quickly. Missing this group mission would result in a huge gap between them and other Players.
Since the launch of version 1.1, Bai Fu had already led Players on two major missions. Everyone who had joined those missions made a fortune. So, when Bai Fu announced a third one, all the Players were fired up.
Within just half a day, the foot traffic and sales across all stores in Shelter Number 11 skyrocketed. Gao Yuan, caught unprepared, had to rush his family’s caravan to transport another batch of weapons from Shelter Number 5.
Outside the Goli Desert, some Players finally made the tough decision to abandon everything they’d worked for and start fresh by joining the Garden of Silence.
“Sure, doing this will cost a lot of Reputation and waste several days, but as long as I can latch onto the mission to eliminate the Wanderer camp, I’m sure I’ll make up for everything in no time.”
Resigning, I quit!
At the Gene Primordials, at the same time, many Players were submitting resignation letters to their old job supervisors.
The supervisors were dumbfounded.
If it had been one or two Players resigning, it’d be fine—but now with this many, they had to find out the reason. Otherwise, their higher-ups would never let them off easy.
“What, you’re defecting to Bai Fu?”
The supervisors were shocked. Bai Fu and the Gene Primordials were enemies! There had even been recent word from above about forming a squad of Undying Ones to specifically assassinate Bai Fu and others like her.
Now look what’s happened. The order hadn’t even been issued yet, and the Undying Ones were already defecting. If upper management found out, the supervisors were doomed.
They tried to persuade the Players to stay.
First, they played the emotional card. When that didn’t work, they tried comparing Bai Fu and the Gene Primordials, viciously belittling Bai Fu.
Bai Fu might be impressive, but could she really compare to one of the Five Major Factions like the Gene Primordials?
If you’re only going to her because she’s pretty, that’s shallow. There are plenty of good-looking folks in the Gene Primordials.
Admittedly, these supervisors were good talkers—but the Players, sick of empty promises, weren’t buying it.
Cut the crap. Let me tell you something—
“Gene Primordials aren’t even worth a single hair of Bai Fu!”
The fierce argument enraged the supervisors too.
What the hell’s the use of Bai Fu’s hair?
“Fine, if that’s how you feel, then go. Go lick Bai Fu’s stinky feet. I want to see if she’ll actually give you any sweetness!”
This conversation was posted by a Player on the Community, instantly sparking widespread discussion.
【I already have to swallow my pride in real life. If I still have to do that in-game, what’s the point of playing?】
【Heh. Bro, once you level up, go back and show them what thirty years east of the river, thirty years west of the river means. Don’t underestimate the poor youth!】
【Jiejiejiejie, let them witness the methods of our Soul Hall】
【This NPC’s seriously full of crap. How could Fu Fu’s feet be stinky? Fu Fu never even wears long boots, and she’s an Esper Power user】
【Exactly, exactly】
Bai Fu, browsing the Community, saw the post and tugged at the corner of her mouth.
Is that really what you all should be focusing on?
Though this whole incident would surely make the Gene Primordials hate her even more, Bai Fu didn’t care. A mountain of debt doesn’t crush the bearer. With so many Players as her shield, even if the Gene Primordials truly launched a massive assault on her, she could still retreat with ease.
Bai Fu closed Star‑Play Society and began summoning Players.
Time to get to work, time to get to work! Whether I can buy a bigger house or drive a fancier car—it all depends on how hard you work!
Bai Fu divided the Players into several squads, assigning high-Reputation veteran Players as team leaders to avoid a chaotic battlefield where Players might run wild and become liabilities.
This also served as a disguised incentive for others to work harder to earn Reputation during the mission.
When Bai Fu’s gaze passed over Sword Qi Soaring, she noticed a Player named Black Bastard standing beside him, glaring resentfully.
She vaguely remembered Black Bastard—he was the president of a guild called Hall of Loyalty and Righteousness, a frenemy of Sword Qi Soaring. Originally active in the Old Republic, he reportedly got provoked by Sword Qi Soaring and decisively abandoned the Old Republic, bringing his entire guild to Shelter Number 11.
The arrival of a large guild was undoubtedly a boost to the development of Garden of Silence.
“Depart!”
Bai Fu boarded the vehicle, followed swiftly by the Players.
As they got in, Black Bastard let out a snort toward Sword Qi Soaring walking ahead.
Don’t get cocky. The only reason you’re above me is that you joined Garden of Silence earlier. Once I adjust to this new environment and complete a few more missions, I’ll surpass you, and Hall of Loyalty and Righteousness will outshine your Iron Rain Guild!
Sword Qi Soaring had already noticed Black Bastard’s gaze but didn’t take it to heart.
One step ahead means every step ahead. I’ll make you realize one day that your daddy is still your daddy!
As the vehicle kicked up dust and disappeared from Shelter Number 11, Gao Yuan, standing at the shop entrance, was just about to speak when a Personal Terminal rang from someone beside him.
“Hello? Ah, so it’s you... Yes, I’ll relay it to the boss right away.”
Moments later, he turned to Gao Yuan and said, “Boss Gao, the caller is a liaison from the Makarov family of the Dark Web. He said they’re hoping you can help introduce them—they want to get acquainted with Bai Fu.”
Gao Yuan nodded. “Tell him I’ll ask Bai Fu for her opinion first.”
“Yes, sir.”
Watching his subordinate converse with the Makarov family’s representative, Gao Yuan’s heart surged with excitement.
Although the Makarov family wasn’t one of the Five Major Factions, their power was not something any of the major factions dared underestimate. And now, they had taken the initiative to approach Bai Fu, their words laced with politeness and respect.
So this is Bai Fu?
Indeed, this is Bai Fu!
Others might not know who the masked woman behind the Black Hawk Base attack was, but Gao Yuan, who had been handling Bai Fu’s logistics and intelligence, knew all too well.
Not only was she immensely powerful, but like a succubus, she had attracted a remarkable group of Undying Ones to serve her. It was almost impossible for such a Bai Fu not to command attention.
Her true identity remained a mystery—but once revealed, it might be utterly terrifying.
Gao Yuan felt his luck was almost too good to be true. Initially, he just wanted to make a bit more money working with Bai Fu. But at this stage, the rewards might go far beyond mere profit.
Bai Fu was about to soar—and he would ride that wind to bask in her glory.
“Sometimes, the right choice matters more than hard work!”
