Chapter 83: Death Reaper of the Desert Slaughters All on the Battlefield

“What's going on?”

When the smoke and dust stirred up by the psionic explosion dissipated, the players who had tried to go up and help Bai Fu all stopped in their tracks.

Those players who had been blasted away by the shockwave of the explosion also paid no attention to their injuries, getting up from the ground with dazed expressions.

It wasn’t that they lacked combat awareness and got distracted in such a tense battle—it was just that the pace of change in the fight between Bai Fu and Graham had been far too fast!

From the moment Bai Fu walked up holding the Electric Knife to when Graham was beaten to his knees by Bai Fu, the entire process had taken just a little over a minute.

But in that brief span, the entire battle situation had reversed—twice.

The first reversal happened when Bai Fu’s HP bar appeared on the livestream, stretching out exaggeratedly long—every player present believed that Bai Fu would win in an overwhelming fashion.

Yet the actual course of the battle turned out to be astonishing.

Bai Fu was clearly being suppressed by Graham. For every slash she landed, Graham could return four. Although she had the Psionic Shield protecting her, once the shield was pierced and went into cooldown, she would be doomed.

Many players had been ready to rush up and help, but at that moment, Bai Fu executed a clean spinning slash, followed by a cold, frost-like warning of an impending explosion, and then unleashed a light-blue energy storm—bringing about the second reversal of the battle.

“Seriously?”

“Damn, what kind of move was that?”

Using the livestream's live-stream comments to summarize the battle looked like this——

【Bai Fu’s situation looks grim→Bai Fu starts floundering→Bai Fu struggles in battle→Bai Fu is on the brink of death→Bai Fu is clearly doomed→Bai Fu delivers her victory speech】

No one really understood what happened, but it was obvious that Bai Fu had now seized absolute control of the battle.

She took a few steps forward, her right foot clad in a black short boot stomping down on the blade Graham had dropped.

The Electric Knife’s blade shimmered faintly, illuminating Bai Fu’s cold side profile—and also lit up Graham’s slightly evasive gaze.

That stomp landed not only on Graham’s weapon, but also on his hope of victory—and the hearts of all the players!

“Cool cool cool!”

“I apologize for bashing the game company earlier—they can set up iconic scenes!”

“Awesome, Fu‑fu is awesome, even Fu‑fu’s legs are awesome!”

“Damn, is this the time to be talking about her legs?”

Now’s the time for “Battle! Hell yeah!”

All the players who had joined Bai Fu in the ambush were thrilled.

So he’s a BOSS, huh? Big, tall, built like a bear and can use Qi, huh?

Too bad our Fu‑fu is even more badass. Fu‑fu isn’t just a BOSS—she’s the patch’s protagonist!

Kill, crush him! The patch protagonist is supposed to bully the villain hard!

Graham began to feel uneasy.

Not because he was scared by the players’ “thirsty” gazes—though those gazes were indeed terrifying, giving him the illusion that he was about to be pinned down by a group and subjected to ultimate humiliation.

Nor was it because his weapon had been dropped and was now pinned under Bai Fu’s foot. He had experienced many dangerous moments on his path to becoming Deputy Minister of the Special Operation Division—this kind of thing was nothing to him.

The real problem was—he had no clue how Bai Fu had managed to detonate the psionic energy inside his body just now.

If he couldn’t even figure out the move, how was he supposed to counter it?

Life-or-death combat was nothing like playing a game and challenging a BOSS.

In a game, if you didn’t understand the BOSS’s moves and got one-shot, so what—you just restarted, carved a path forward through trial and error. But in a real life-or-death struggle, if you didn’t understand the opponent’s move and got one-shot, that was just straight-up death.

Looks like he had to abandon his usual combat style!

Graham suddenly sprang up from the ground like a brown bear just awakened from hibernation, his entire body exuding a violent aura.

Intimidation!

But he intimidated no one. Bai Fu remained completely unmoved.

What a joke—I’m running hacks!

Bai Fu clearly saw the 【Qi Depleted】 debuff after Graham’s name, lasting 20 seconds. This was because he had been completely unguarded when the explosion from the Extra-dimensional Erosion disrupted his Qi.

Just bluffing.

She immediately slashed across Graham’s chest.

The arc-blade of the Electric Knife sliced through the armor on Graham’s upper body, carving a scorched wound into his flesh, with wisps of smoke rising from it.

“Ahhh—”

Graham let out a scream of pain.

He had planned to startle Bai Fu into a defensive stance so he could use the opportunity to escape. Now, he could only grit his teeth and run.

“Stop her!”

Graham shouted loudly.

If he could just have a few seconds, he could regain his footing and rush back into the riot vehicle. Inside were several custom-made poison gas grenades.

Facing an opponent whose moves he couldn’t even understand, the right solution was just to bomb her directly—blast her to death, end of story. Whatever abilities Bai Fu had didn’t matter.

Graham wasn’t a curious man—he only cared about winning, not how he won.

At his command, some Truth Society agents who had been locked in combat with players turned their guns around.

Fire!

A dense barrage of bullets grazed Graham’s body and engulfed Bai Fu.

What made Graham’s heart sink was that even this hail of bullets didn’t do any real damage to Bai Fu. What was this monster?

Psionic Prayer-user, huh? He subconsciously began comparing Bai Fu to Yulia. The last Psionic Prayer-user who had made him feel invincible was Yulia.

Still, the barrage wasn’t entirely useless—it at least slowed Bai Fu’s pursuit.

Alright, now was the mo—

“Damn, ganging up on her now?”

“Son of a—can’t win 1v1 so you call backup? I, Marshal Ma, am going to punish you right now!”

“Brothers, charge! If we don’t, they’ll think our Fu‑fu has no backup!”

“Haha, first place reward is mine!”

The enraged players launched an immediate counterattack. Gunfire erupted like exploding firecrackers, forcing Graham to start weaving and dodging bullets in a zigzag pattern.

His body was tough, sure—but not tough enough to tank that many bullets without Qi.

The good news was that the agents on his side were clearly more competent than those on the other side. So even though they were outnumbered, they wouldn’t be at a disadvantage anytime soon.

Very good.

He needed to seize this opportunity to get back to the vehicle.

Graham clutched his injured left arm and rolled behind a large rock. Just as he was aiming for his next piece of cover, a loud shout suddenly rang out from above his head.

“Ha ha, now’s the time!”

An unfamiliar voice. Damn it!

Graham was shocked.

The person who leapt out from behind him was a Convert to My Fu, holding a Grenade in his hand.

As a representative of the suicide-bomber class of players, he had been waiting for a chance since the battle began. Creeping stealthily in the shadows close to the ground, he had finally crawled to a position very close to Graham.

Solo-kill the BOSS!

Boom!

The Grenade exploded. The Convert to My Fu was blown to pieces on the spot. Graham, using his reorganized Qi to protect his vital parts, was still blasted two meters away. His left arm felt like it had been hammered by a giant iron mallet.

Damn it.

Graham and several new players cursed simultaneously in their hearts.

The former did so out of frustration. The new players, however, felt as if they had discovered a new world.

When it came to shooting, they couldn’t match the veteran players. But when it came to hugging a bomb and dying together with the enemy, there really wasn’t much difference between them and the veterans. Who cares if you’re Old Deng or Little Deng—one close-range explosion, and you’re dead on the spot all the same.

The key was that this was a guaranteed way to secure a few kills worth of XP. For them, at their current low levels, this was practically the best shortcut to leveling up.

The new players were envious. The veterans, seeing that Convert to My Fu pull off another slick move, were also envious.

They looked ready to charge forward, sending Graham and his agents to meet their maker.

At that moment, Bai Fu stepped forward.

“You go clean up the scattered troops around us and block off this road to prevent their escape. As for Graham and his cronies—leave them to me.”

Step aside quickly, the Super Little Fu is about to show off!

Huh?

The players all turned to look at Bai Fu. Wasn’t this a bit too dangerous?

After all, even Ip Man only fought ten guys, and there were already over a dozen agents guarding Graham.

Bai Fu remained calm.

The new patch had just launched. This was the peak of her popularity. A rare opportunity to show off in front of the players was right in front of her—how could she miss it?

Today, she was going to charge in and out seven times, not just to shatter Graham’s courage, but to carve out a unique place for herself in the hearts of the players—

The Garden of Silence was impressive, but Bai Fu, the boss of the Garden of Silence, was the most impressive of all!

With Bai Fu insisting, the players could only follow orders. After all, Bai Fu was the one who handed out quests.

But not all players went after the agents providing supporting fire around the perimeter. Sword Qi Soaring and Old Dog didn’t move. They kept watch from the rear, ready to jump in and support at any moment. Compared to the rewards from taking out an agent, they valued the benefits of helping Bai Fu much more.

Graham didn’t underestimate Bai Fu just because she said she would take on more than ten people. On the contrary, his expression grew even more grim.

“I’ll draw her attention. You guys—”

He hadn’t even finished speaking when Bai Fu charged in.

That short distance was nothing to Bai Fu, whose Agility had already reached 21.

Crackling arcs of electricity slashed through the air, slicing straight toward Graham’s head.

Graham was massive, but not slow. He swiftly retreated, creating distance, while the dozen or so agents beside him launched a coordinated attack—some opened fire, others unleashed their unique weapons.

Bai Fu was swarmed by enemies. She slashed her blade down on one agent’s armor, and in the next second, a Sniper Rifle fired from the shadows—one bullet struck her right between the eyes.

Her body tilted slightly backward. In that brief moment, two agents swung at her left and right hands.

So there was still one hidden?

For a sniper, the greatest asset was vision.

【Generic Card·Visual Fog】

Bai Fu endured the two strikes, pulling a Prayer Card from her pocket.

This was a byproduct she had created while synthesizing 【Generic Card·Spatial Distortion】. Its effect was to obscure vision with fog.

She hadn’t planned to use Spatial Distortion yet, saving that card as a trump card for rescuing someone. But Visual Fog? No need to hold back—strike when the time was right!

She flung the Prayer Card out. The sniper immediately panicked—he couldn’t see a thing.

Bang!

A bullet fired, hitting an unlucky Truth Society agent.

Bai Fu didn’t hesitate. She rushed forward and stabbed that agent in the chest. Electricity surged, damage values spilled out like a leaking oil drum, and the agent shrieked like a pig being slaughtered.

Before he died, Extra-dimensional Erosion stacked to five layers.

Chain Reaction linked two people—boom!

In an instant, centered on that agent, another agent beside him, and Graham, three psionic storms swept across the battlefield.

“Get clear!”

“Ah!”

One blast knocked six agents to the ground. The ones who weren’t hit directly were drenched in cold sweat from fear.

What was even going on anymore?

They had no idea—only staring at Graham, who had just been hit by yet another explosion.

Graham coughed up blood. The heart-wrenching pain turned his eyes red, triggering the second phase of his rage state.

“Kill her. She must die, or no one here is getting out alive today!”

A correct judgment—but useless!

Bai Fu glanced at her Psionic Shield. After enduring several rounds of attacks, it had only 200 or so points left. But she still had 1730 HP!

She didn’t know if the other side was feeling hopeless—but she was having a great time. She still had enough psionic energy to blow things up two or three more times.

“Stealing your buff!”

When Graham charged forward, Bai Fu immediately used Chain Reaction to steal his second-phase buff.

This move could be described as using your own magic against you!

Graham’s psionic resistance and Inspiration were too low—he couldn’t resist her buff-stealing at all.

【Fiery Presence】: Strength +20%, Agility +20%, Spirit +10%, Physical Resistance +30%, Tenacity +10, HP Recovery Rate +20/min.

This buff mostly increased percentage-based attributes. For Bai Fu, whose Strength and Agility weren’t high, the boost wasn’t particularly noticeable. Even if she fought Graham head-on with the buff, it wouldn’t make much difference.

But even mosquito meat was still meat—Bai Fu wasn’t going to pass it up.

Carrying Graham’s Fiery Presence buff, Bai Fu completely ignored Graham and turned to charge at the agents.

Stacking Extra-dimensional Erosion on these agents would obviously be much faster than on Graham.

Graham had meant for these agents to help him gang up on Bai Fu to increase their chances of victory, but never expected it would instead give Bai Fu an opportunity.

With just two and a half days of practice, Bai Fu wielded Kirilenko’s Electric Knife with imposing vigor.

She rushed into the crowd and immediately went on a killing spree. The Electric Knife spun with her body, drawing bright arcs of electricity. Whoever got slashed, she would chase down and continue slashing.

Even with Graham chasing after her, she showed no fear—her whole strategy was weaving in and out of the crowd, without a single drop of her own blood landing on her.

Slaughter everywhere, slaughter everywhere!

Once Extra-dimensional Erosion hit five stacks, it would immediately be followed by a Garden of Silence Guillotine (Detonate).

Severed limbs and flying blood, electric light and psionic energy merged as one.

One agent fell after another.

Bai Fu went berserk. The people from the Truth Society were on the verge of madness too.

Fiery Presence helped Graham ignore the pain temporarily, but even so, he could clearly feel that despite his constant healing, he was close to his limit.

Why? He had landed several Qi-powered hits on Bai Fu, and yet she was still bouncing around like nothing happened?

“Damn, she’s way too fierce!”

“I really overestimated myself. I thought I could help Bai Fu—but with her strength, I’m just glad I’m not dragging her down.”

“So this is what main character power looks like? Brutal. Absolutely brutal!”

【Mom asked why I was watching the livestream on my knees】

【What is this Valkyrie Waterfowl Dance?】

Sword Qi Soaring and the players watching in the livestream were all stunned.

They clearly saw Graham, having activated his second phase and charging fiercely—get broken by Bai Fu and immediately turn and run.

Unbelievable! What kind of BOSS flees like this? At least finish the second phase and trigger a cutscene before running!

Of course, Bai Fu wasn’t going to let Graham escape—she still needed information from him.

Holding her knife, she pursued Graham all the way.

Graham was drenched in sweat.

If he could just reach that place—just get those poison gas grenades from the vehicle—

No matter how special Bai Fu’s ability was, unless she was naturally immune to poison gas, she was dead today.

Sure, tossing a poison grenade at close range would kill him too—but he didn’t care anymore. Not throwing was certain death; throwing might at least take someone with him.

Ding!

Suddenly, a knife crackling with electricity stabbed into the body of the vehicle ahead of him. The current conducted through the metal, and his body began convulsing uncontrollably.

It’s over. It’s all over!

A sense of despair surged in Graham’s heart.

As he fell, he saw Bai Fu walking up from behind and picking up the Electric Knife.

“Why’d you go and touch the car like that? Didn’t you know metal conducts electricity?”

Bai Fu chuckled as she kicked Graham in the stomach, leaving him spasming and completely unable to resist.

She bent down and poked at Graham’s body with the tip of her blade.

“Relax. I don’t intend to kill you. I just want to ask you for some intel. Tell me the locations of all the Truth Society’s bases, and where the people used by the Truth Society President to threaten Yulia are being held.”

Graham clenched his teeth and said nothing.

Bai Fu had expected him to be tough, so she had prepared a special interrogation set for him.

“Not talking, huh?”

She gagged Graham first, then dismantled a terminal device from the vehicle, pressing the redial button. Soon, a voice answered on the other end.

“Graham? Why the sudden call…”

“Are you the Truth Society President?” Bai Fu asked.

The voice on the other end paused. “No. Who are you?”

“I’m a senior agent from the Gene Primordials. Today you sent Graham to attack our factory, and I’d like your President to hear Graham’s voice.”

“What?”

The person on the other end was shocked and quickly went to fetch the Truth Society President.

“I’m the Truth Society President.”

A strange voice came through the terminal.

Come to think of it, this was her first time speaking with the Truth Society President—possibly the biggest BOSS NPC on Origin Star.

But Bai Fu felt strangely calm.

Maybe this was the composure a former Player turned NPC should have.

“I suggest you listen carefully.”

With that, Bai Fu dragged Graham to the terminal and removed the cloth from his mouth.

Finally freed, Graham immediately shouted, “President—”

But just as the word left his mouth, he was horrified to find that he had lost control of his body.

It was Bai Fu. Bai Fu had used Battle Etiquette.

In those 2 seconds, Bai Fu did nothing but open her mouth and say one line of profanity.

“F**k your mom!”

That line flew out of her mouth—and also came out of Graham’s mouth.

In that instant, both the Truth Society President and Graham froze. Neither had expected things to turn out this way.

Bai Fu gagged Graham again.

Then the volcano erupted.

“Graaahaam!”

“Born, you damn Born! I always suspected there was a traitor among us—never thought it was you, Born!”

“You’re dead! Don’t think just because you’re with the Gene Primordials that you’ll survive, I—”

Click.

Bai Fu cut off the call, stepping on Graham’s chest with a half-smile.

No.

That wasn’t what I said!

Graham was overwhelmed by a terror unlike anything he had felt before.

To the players, Bai Fu standing with a foot on Graham’s chest looked like a majestic Valkyrie—but to Graham, this masked young woman was a total Born!

Alright! I’ll talk! I’ll talk!
