Chapter 127 : Yulia, I Shall Ignite the World for You

Chapter 127: Yulia, I Shall Ignite the World for You

Bai Fu’s primary objective in this assault on the Truth Society’s main base was to rescue Yulia’s original body.

As for destroying the main base of the Truth Society, or even seizing the opportunity to kill the Truth Society President and bury the organization altogether—that would have to wait until after Yulia was rescued.

Precisely because of this, she couldn’t launch a direct assault on the Truth Society’s base in the first phase. If things got loud, it would become difficult to rescue Yulia. The Truth Society might escape with Yulia through a hidden passage—or worse, they might decide to kill her.

In short, everything would spiral out of control.

With that in mind, on the way to the Truth Society’s main base, Bai Fu had purposefully synthesized a batch of new Prayer Cards.

【Hypnosis】—just as the name implied, it allowed the user to hypnotize a target. It was something popular in both legitimate and not-so-legitimate anime. Its downside was the low quality; it didn’t work on targets with high Inspiration or Mental Stats, and if the target’s body experienced any shock, there was a high chance they would snap out of it.

Veteran viewers would probably shake their heads at it, but for Bai Fu, it was just right.

【Weakened】: After use, it made the target feel completely drained, like they had overexerted themselves.

【Super Smell】: After use, it amplified the olfactory stimuli experienced by the target.

【Rhinitis Patient】: After use, the target would sneeze and have a runny nose non-stop as if suffering from allergic rhinitis. No one knew who created this Prayer Card, but it was seriously sinister.

These strange Prayer Cards were synthesized by Bai Fu based on the bizarre Psionic Knowledge she had recently purchased.

Even though it had cost her over 300,000 XP to create them, she didn’t feel the slightest regret after seeing their actual effects.

Don’t be fooled by how weird or low-quality these Prayer Cards were—unlike the summoning cards she had crafted before, their utility was outstanding. They were perfect for infiltration.

Moreover, after this operation, Bai Fu could put them up for sale in Anya’s Mysterious Shop.

Take the Hypnosis Card, for example—despite its long list of limitations, if it didn’t sell well, she’d livestream herself shaving her head.

Weakened would surely have decent sales too. As for Super Smell... she figured some players with niche interests might need it.

Strong scent, no extra salt needed!

Bai Fu pulled out a large stack of Prayer Cards and distributed part of them to the players who had come with her. Then she issued a new mission, instructing them to scatter and scout the terrain around the base.

All that remained was to wait.

She was waiting for the Truth Society to clash with the Gene Primordials. She was also waiting for someone new to come out of the main base.

And so she waited—for almost two days.

Two days later, word spread that the Gene Primordials had been attacked by the Truth Society. Since the Human Alliance and the Old Republic had already taken a beating from the Truth Society, nobody paid much attention to this at first. Everyone thought it was just part of the Truth Society’s chain of retaliations—and that the Railway Guild would be next.

【Whoa, declaring war on all four major factions simultaneously】

【Goodness, is the Truth Society President the Empress Dowager Cixi of the Beyond the Stars version?】

【Maybe he’s gone mad】

The Truth Society President had indeed gone a bit mad—but it was a killing frenzy.

As the main force assaulted one of the Gene Primordials’ military bases, he led an elite squad composed of Espers and Players in a surprise flank attack.

His strength was terrifying. Forget ordinary soldiers—even the arrogant Espers stationed at the base couldn’t survive a single round against him.

Instant kill, instant kill, and more instant kills!

What defined an assassin? One who took out every enemy they encountered like he did—that was the perfect assassin!

After the base fell, the Truth Society President stepped over the Gene Primordials’ flag and stared into the blood-red setting sun.

“It’s time to end this grudge.”

……

The high command of the Gene Primordials was furious upon learning their base had been destroyed. This was the second major attack by the Truth Society within a year, and they had suffered heavy losses each time.

“I request to join the operation against the Truth Society! I can’t just sit by and watch them commit atrocities anymore!”

Xia Shi immediately submitted her application to both her superiors in the Technology Bureau and the Intelligence Bureau. That very evening, a response arrived.

“Take her away.”

With a soft command from the Technology Bureau Director, two fully armed Mutants accompanying him stepped forward, pointing guns at Xia Shi.

“Supervisor Xia, please come with us.”

Xia Shi asked in surprise, “What are you doing? What crime have I committed?”

The Technology Bureau Director loosened his leather gloves and smiled. “A very special file in the lab was recently tampered with. I have sufficient reason to believe you’re involved.”

Xia Shi’s heart sank. She knew he was talking about the 001 file she had secretly handed over to Bai Fu.

When she had rediscovered that file, she had hesitated about whether to submit it. But after reading its contents, she was left speechless from shock—and eventually decided to give it to Bai Fu.

She had known there might be danger involved, but didn’t expect it to come so quickly. Now, all she could do was play dumb.

“File? What file?”

“You don’t need to say anything—I’ll find out.”

Ignoring Xia Shi’s attempts to deny it, the Technology Bureau Director had her taken away.

After the door shut, the dim laboratory fell into dead silence.

……

Meanwhile, outside the Truth Society’s main base—

Several patrol members strolled while chatting.

“News from the front: the President has already launched the assault.”

“If this operation goes well, maybe we won’t have to hole up in this godforsaken place anymore. Man, being constantly on edge sucks—I just want a proper nap.”

“Yeah, me too... hmm?”

As they chatted, they suddenly froze. Their bodies locked up, and the light in their eyes dimmed instantly.

Seconds later, Bai Fu and Hei Fu emerged from the shadows.

Wanna sleep?

Let’s support every humble dream!

Bai Fu began interrogating them, but unfortunately, their clearance was too low—they didn’t know any more than the guy they’d previously caught.

She shook her head, then selected two Truth Society members whose body types were similar to hers and who had been hypnotized. After dispatching them decisively, she tossed their bodies into the deep gorge nearby—now they could sleep till the end of days.

Then she and Hei Fu slipped into the patrol squad unnoticed.

Before arriving, she had custom-made two sets of standard Truth Society soldier uniforms for herself and Hei Fu. She deliberately made the clothing a bit loose and added padding in certain areas to conceal the assets of herself and Hei Fu.

In fact, if it were only about the disguise on their hats and clothing, it would be easy to see through. However, since the Deep Sleep Zone where the Truth Society’s main base was located maintained temperatures around zero year-round, anyone going on patrol would cover their faces tightly. This gave Bai Fu the perfect opportunity to infiltrate.

Now, unless it was someone familiar, it was difficult for anyone to notice anything odd about her and Hei Fu just by looking.

Thus, Bai Fu controlled Hei Fu and a few hypnotized Truth Society members to pace around the outside. After circling for a while, they headed toward the main base.

Atop the cliff, what first came into view was a towering iron gate hidden behind a shadowy forest.

The gate was majestic, but its true oppressive presence could only be felt up close. Plenty of guards were stationed beside the thick pillars, and numerous cold barrels of guns and cannons were mounted on the columns and fences.

“If we went in by force, aside from Hei Fu and me, the others would probably get blown to bits the moment they appeared.”

As expected of the main base, the firepower was intense—but it was only effective against external threats.

Now, it was time for the performance to begin!

Upon reaching the gate, Bai Fu secretly used 【Rhinitis Patient】 on a guard who had stuck out his head. Under the torment of the Prayer Card, the guard started sneezing uncontrollably, his head nearly exploding from the fits.

“Damn, bro, are you okay?”

“Who knows... maybe... achoo... I caught a chill last night... achoo...”

The commotion drew the attention of everyone nearby. For a moment, hardly anyone noticed Bai Fu and her group.

She had the hypnotized patrol members present their IDs and open the gate. Bai Fu followed them leisurely, drawing no suspicion as she smoothly entered the training building of the Truth Society’s main base.

Inside, she casually found a restroom, stuffed the hypnotized patrol members into it, and even kindly locked the door from the inside.

This would prevent any immediate discovery of anomalies.

Leaving the restroom, Bai Fu arrived at the door of a tightly closed office. She tossed in a stinky shoe she had taken from one of the patrol members earlier and used 【Super Smell】 on whoever was inside.

Two seconds later, the office erupted in curses and retching.

“Ugh~”

“Damn it, who the hell took off their shoes? Even someone wearing long leather boots for hours in a sewer doesn’t stink this bad!”

Bang!

The office door was kicked open, and its occupants fled in panic.

After they disappeared from sight, Bai Fu had Tiny Hei Fu crawl through the ventilation duct for a quick round, capturing a photo of a blueprint for the interior layout of the training building that was placed on a desk.

“The floor directly beneath the training building is Area A. The lab is in Area C. Getting from Area A to Area C requires special clearance.”

With the rough map in hand, Bai Fu let out a sigh of relief.

From here, things would get easier—find someone with clearance, hypnotize them, and have them lead the way. If they encountered anyone along the way, she’d ignore them if they didn’t speak; if they did, and there were only a few, she’d use Rhinitis or Weakened. If there were too many, she’d throw a “stink bomb” to disperse them.

She executed this combo flawlessly—even those dog-nosed patrol types couldn’t withstand it and became mere decorations. If serious trouble came, she’d use Battle Etiquette to control the target and resolve the issue within two seconds.

In this fashion, Bai Fu and Hei Fu moved unimpeded, smoothly arriving at Area C. Along the way, they changed into new disguises—white lab coats and blue masks.

“Now I just need to find Tai’er Zhenren, or the location indicated on the map he sent me. Then I can determine where Yulia is.”

Bai Fu did not continue with Hei Fu. She went to find Yulia herself, instructing Hei Fu to stealthily plant Tiny Bai Fu in various hidden and unmonitored corners of Area C.

Getting Yulia out of the lab would inevitably alert the base, so she had to prepare for retreat and sabotage. Back in Area A, she had already planted several Tiny Bai Fu and Eyes of the Dark Moon.

Since most forces had gone on an expedition, the base was emptier than ever. Hei Fu moved swiftly through the interwoven corridors with almost no pause—until she slid an Eye of the Dark Moon Prayer Card under the door of a certain office.

Seeing the image relayed back by the Eye of the Dark Moon, both Hei Fu and Bai Fu halted.

The office was empty, but on the wall hung a photo frame with four people. Bai Fu recognized one of them.

“Isn’t that the guy from the Memory Fragment I got during the Old Republic mission—the one who always asked me if I wanted to leave with him after I rescued him?”

Bai Fu was sure she hadn’t mistaken him. Though his face was so ordinary that it was hard to recall at first glance, after clearing the instance dozens of times, she couldn’t forget it even if she tried.

Why would that face appear in this photo?

Bai Fu was shaken to her core.

A bold hypothesis took shape in her mind. Although this face looked entirely different from the Truth Society President she’d seen before, could it be that they were actually the same person?

After escaping from the Psionic Research Institute No. 1 Subdivision, if that unremarkable-looking Mutant wanted to survive, he had two options—hide or get a new face.

【Plastic Surgery】

That term popped into Bai Fu’s head.

She was increasingly convinced this might be the case. Otherwise, why would she be rewarded with a Memory Fragment like that when investigating secrets of the Old Republic?

To confirm whether the Mutant in the Memory Fragment was really the Truth Society President was simple.

Previously, she had triggered a mission called 【The Origin of the Truth Society】. The mission objective was to uncover the Truth Society President’s real identity. The first phase of the mission rewarded 300,000 XP and Storyline Exploration, and even included hidden rewards.

Once she confirmed the Mutant’s identity, she only had to attempt to submit the mission to verify if he really was the Truth Society President.

“Hei Fu, take a picture of the photo.”

Bai Fu swiftly assigned the next task to Hei Fu.

Temporarily putting aside the matter of the Truth Society President, she continued forward. Even when she encountered people along the way, she slipped past without incident.

After searching for ten minutes, she finally stopped—because standing before her was a familiar face—

Tai’er Zhenren.

That sealed it!

Bai Fu quickly approached. “Wait.”

Tai’er Zhenren turned around with a confused look. “What do you need from me?”

Without removing her mask, Bai Fu softly uttered three words: “Digging Girl.”

Tai’er Zhenren froze. How would someone in the Truth Society base know about Digging Girl? The next second, after carefully assessing Bai Fu’s height, build, and proportions, he suddenly reached a conclusion.

Whoa, it’s Fu!

Tai’er Zhenren quickly covered his mouth to stop himself from shouting in shock.

Why was Bai Fu here? No—actually, it made perfect sense. After all, he had passed the intel along.

“Take me to the place you mentioned.” Bai Fu assigned Tai’er Zhenren a high-reward quest as a commendation for his excellent undercover work.

Tai’er Zhenren quickly nodded without saying a word and began leading the way.

It didn’t take long before Bai Fu arrived near the secret laboratory Tai’er Zhenren had told her about. The lab door was tightly shut, with guards standing upright at the entrance.

Bai Fu walked alone to the lab entrance. One of the guards extended his right hand. “Stop. This is a restricted laboratory area. No access without authorization.”

“Authorization?”

My fist is the authorization!

Her right hand clenched into a fist. In an instant, Bai Fu launched seven rapid strikes. The three guards collapsed unconscious without even a chance to scream.

Now that she had located Yulia’s position, there was no longer any need to sneak around.

“Hei Fu, send the photo to Su Li and ask her to help identify the people in it.”

After issuing the command to Hei Fu, Bai Fu pulled out her Personal Terminal and contacted the players waiting outside the base.

【Begin the operation as planned】

Internal and external chaos—catch the Truth Society off guard!

The moment she hit send, Bai Fu raised her right hand and unleashed a Psionic Burst at the lab door.

Boom!

The door exploded instantly, blasting a large hole. A white-coated person who had been walking past stood dumbfounded, staring at Bai Fu who now appeared through the smoking breach.

“You—”

“Good afternoon.”

A flash of Flowing Light. Bai Fu turned into a blur and reappeared right in front of the lab coat. When her form solidified again, the lab coat had already collapsed, motionless.

She looked at the monitor in front of her. On the screen, Yulia lay weakly with her long, icy blue hair, unclear whether she was asleep or something else.

“At last, I get to meet your original body.”

Bai Fu sighed in emotion. She yanked out a white coat who had been hiding under the desk since the door explosion.

“Let her out.”

Dr. Aid shook his head desperately. “She’ll die. If I let her out, the President will definitely kill me.”

He never imagined this would happen. One moment he was working quietly in the lab, and the next, the door exploded and a terrifying woman barged in. For a moment, he thought he was dreaming.

Bai Fu sneered coldly. “I don’t know if the Truth Society President will kill you for letting her out, but I do know I’ll kill you right now if you don’t.”

Trembling under her icy gaze, Dr. Aid eventually caved.

He was just a doctor. What could he do against Bai Fu?

His hands flew over the keyboard. After unlocking several layers of security, a long hum echoed as the sealed capsule containing Yulia opened.

Bai Fu cast a Psionic Vision on Yulia.

Her HP was still at about 70% of the maximum, but her Psionic Value was down to just 12. Her name was tagged with a long string of debuffs.

【Weakened】, 【Sealed】, 【Debilitated】...

It was clear how terribly she had been treated since being captured.

Bai Fu stepped forward and carried Yulia out of the sealed capsule.

Yulia was a bit taller than her, with equally full curves, but right now, cradled in Bai Fu’s arms, she was as light as a doll.

“You’re here.”

The slight jostling woke Yulia, who blinked and then quickly understood the situation thanks to her link with Tiny Yulia.

“Get some sleep first. When you wake up, we’ll be home.” Bai Fu nodded gently to her.

Yulia managed a faint smile and replied in a weak voice, “Things might not be as simple as you think. Though the Truth Society’s main force isn’t here, there are still many unimaginable monsters in this base.”

Almost as if to confirm her words, shrill alarms and roars suddenly erupted from outside the lab.

“Enemy attack! Enemy attack! Everyone, attention! Lock down Area C! Emergency lockdown of Area C!”

Bai Fu tossed Tiny Yulia into Yulia’s arms. “Don’t worry. I came fully prepared to rescue you.”

Those Tiny Bai Fu planted along the way weren’t just for decoration!

A thought ignited.

In the next second, from the factory floor aboveground to the underground Area A and then to Area C, dozens of Tiny Bai Fu detonated simultaneously. The Psionic Storm engulfed everything around, dragging the entire Truth Society base into an abyss of terror.
