Chapter 102: This Version Belongs to the Era of Big Bai Fu!
True Spirit Hei Fu had no intelligence, but upon receiving commands, she possessed a certain degree of autonomous action capability.
In Bai Fu’s view, Hei Fu was like a very primitive AI.
Being dumb was good, especially being dumb to this extent—it could be said to be just right.
If Hei Fu had her own consciousness, then it wouldn’t be so easy for Bai Fu to exploit her.
Once Bai Fu confirmed that Hei Fu possessed all the physical parts a normal human female should have, and that she could truly control Hei Fu, Bai Fu’s designation for Hei Fu was no longer just a True Spirit to assist her in battle.
Anyone smart enough should quickly guess what she intended to do with Hei Fu.
Exactly.
Just look at those hands—so beautiful! It would be a real pity if such beautiful hands weren’t used to create Prayer Cards and Esper Collectors!
As the number of players joining the Garden of Silence grew, and as the sales of Prayer Cards steadily increased, the greatest obstacle preventing Bai Fu from becoming “Fuboss” had shifted to those players reluctant to spend money and the production capacity of Prayer Cards.
She temporarily resolved the first issue through trial play; with the arrival of Hei Fu, the second issue was also neatly settled.
“Let Hei Fu be my bodyguard when going out on missions or running storylines.”
“Let Hei Fu stay home making cards while I laze around in the shelter.”
“Even when sleeping… let Hei Fu make cards too.”
True Spirits were not human—they did not feel fatigue, nor did they need to eat to replenish energy. They only required a cooldown period and some psionic energy to be summoned again after death.
Bai Fu usually only needed to allocate a short time to card-making to satisfy the current Garden of Silence player base.
If Hei Fu could dedicate large amounts of time to card production, not only could she meet the growing demands of Garden of Silence players, the surplus cards could also be handed over to Gao Yuan or sold on the Dark Web, earning extra profit.
A True Spirit that could work non-stop for 24 hours without getting tired—how fantastic!
Reaping great rewards, Bai Fu shot the terminal in front of her before it could self-destruct.
As she holstered her gun, Tiny Yulia’s voice suddenly rang out.
“What is that?”
Seeing Hei Fu appear out of thin air and then drift away, Tiny Yulia was utterly shocked. She had never seen anything like it and even thought for a moment it was another soul hidden within Bai Fu’s body.
“True Spirit.”
Bai Fu didn’t know how to explain it to Tiny Yulia, because she herself didn’t really understand what a True Spirit was, so she could only act mysterious and say less.
However, one thing caught her attention—Yulia’s template was Child of True Spirit. In other words, Yulia was the child of her and Hei Fu? Stop right there, that’s impossible.
Better jot this down for later. Investigate if any related quests pop up.
Bai Fu exited the deepest room on B2 floor. At that moment, Hei Fu had already reached the Level 33 Sandworm mini-BOSS.
“Fu Fu, charge!”
“Whirlwind Charge Tornado!”
From the rooms on either side of the corridor, the few surviving players cheered while watching the fight, but they gradually noticed something strange.
Wait a second, why did Bai Fu have black hair again? And also...
【It’s the Warden!】
【Where are my shoes? Where did my shoes go?】
【Thanks for the invite, I threw them away. Things like that are redundant.】
Then, something even weirder happened—just as Hei Fu flashed to the Sandworm and delivered a solid punch to its face, Bai Fu walked out of the room.
Seeing the black-haired Hei Fu and the white-haired Bai Fu, the players in the lab were dumbfounded, and so were the viewers in the livestream room.
What the hell, why are there two Bai Fus?
One black, one white—Black and White Impermanence?
Most players had lost interest in watching Hei Fu battle the Sandworm. Game streamers like Excavation‑Princess, who weren’t on the scene, were even more anxious, their eyes turning red from the excitement.
Holy crap, huge news, super huge news—there must be a massive secret behind this!
【Family, stay tuned for my new commentary video】
Excavation‑Princess rushed to produce a new video, and other streamers were not far behind.
Bai Fu calmly stood in the corridor. She loved watching players try to guess her true identity—some shocked, some drawing comparisons. All of it was traffic!
But right now, she was more focused on Hei Fu’s combat ability.
The Level 33 Sandworm BOSS, based on panel stats alone, was stronger than Graham but weaker than the Mechanic Qi Yuan. Hei Fu’s strength was slightly better than Bai Fu’s when she fought Qi Yuan—her attributes were similar, but she had more skills.
Normally, Hei Fu should be able to easily crush this Sandworm BOSS.
Bai Fu’s only concern was that Hei Fu might be too dumb—only capable of repetitive actions when not directly controlled—therefore unable to fully utilize her power.
But after watching for a dozen seconds, she realized her concern was unnecessary.
Hei Fu was simply a combat genius!
Hei Fu could skillfully use all the skills she had mastered, and she even handled health exchanges impressively well.
A fist empowered by Fanaticism struck the Sandworm’s left face straight on, caving in the relatively fragile area into a small pit. The Sandworm shrieked in pain and raised its two ugly front limbs, covered in pus-filled boils from infection.
“Watch out, don’t go head-on with it!”
A nearby player loudly warned.
When this Sandworm first appeared, some players tried to use Spatial Distortion to restrain it, hoping to take it down with superior numbers and earn massive XP. While Spatial Distortion worked, every player who charged in instantly died upon touching the Sandworm’s boils—Psionic Shield couldn’t save them. Once infected, HP dropped by percentage!
Unexpectedly, Hei Fu didn’t dodge at all. She took the Sandworm’s whip strike head-on, formed her right hand into a blade, and in an instant slashed the Sandworm’s left eye three times.
In this exchange, Hei Fu only staggered slightly, while the Sandworm thrashed its head wildly to avoid her!
The Sandworm furiously lunged forward, but it completely missed—Flowing Light was off cooldown, and Hei Fu instantly flashed to its flank.
Lightning Strike!
Her psionically imbued fist slammed into the Sandworm. The moment five layers of Extra-dimensional Erosion stacked fully, Hei Fu leapt back and widened the distance.
The Sandworm roared in fury on the spot. As it charged at Hei Fu, the stacked Extra-dimensional Erosion detonated.
The violent explosion hurled it through the air, slamming it into the nearby wall and collapsing half of it.
“!”
Nearby players were stunned.
“Holy—so fierce?”
Bai Fu had looked fierce when she beat up Graham and Qi Yuan too, but those two were human. Watching them get thrashed didn’t feel nearly as shocking as seeing a gigantic Sandworm—much larger than a human—getting pummelled.
The fallen Sandworm let out a mournful cry.
That cry drew even more players, who had originally focused on the black and white Bai Fus.
It would’ve been better not to look. One glance and their scalps tingled.
White-haired Fu Fu fought by tanking enemy damage head-on, strolling leisurely while using unpredictable techniques to kill her enemies. Black-haired Fu Fu, on the other hand, was clearly hot-tempered. After knocking the Sandworm into the air, she didn’t give it a moment to breathe. With a flick of her left hand, a Tiny Bai Fu flew out; with a flick of her right, another Tiny Bai Fu shot forth.
The two Tiny Bai Fus struck from both sides, blasting the just-upright Sandworm back into the air and into the ceiling.
Hei Fu instantly activated Overflowing Radiance and Super Burst, consuming 50% of her Psionic Value, 20% of her HP, and 20 Attribute Points to temporarily boost Strength by 14 points and Agility by 19.
Empowered by this double burst, Hei Fu transformed into a phantom that normal eyes couldn’t track, charging at the Sandworm with no flashy techniques—just raw, primal, and serious straight punches.
It was a battle between a seemingly small “human” and an obviously massive worm. But the one dominating was the “human”.
The Sandworm had two of its legs broken in quick succession, and its HP drained like sand through a funnel. When its HP dropped to around 35%, its body suddenly glowed with a strange red light.
“Phase two! Stall it! If we stall through its second phase, we win!”
Someone among the players shouted.
Stall?
Clearly, “stall” wasn’t in Hei Fu’s vocabulary.
With one use of Chain Reaction, she stole the Sandworm’s second-phase buff. Then, she launched into an even fiercer barrage than before—a storm of relentless suppressive attacks.
So what if it meant trading blows? As a True Spirit, she wasn’t afraid of pain.
One strike, two, five—boom—cycle...
At last, the Sandworm couldn’t withstand the brutal assault. It whimpered and turned, charging at Bai Fu.
Just before it could touch her, it sidestepped, staggering into the deepest room.
Bai Fu didn’t give chase, because Hei Fu already had.
At the room’s entrance, Hei Fu finished off the Sandworm BOSS with a single punch, while still having over 500 HP left.
Bai Fu nodded at Hei Fu in satisfaction. If Hei Fu had a Psionic Shield Card, this fight could’ve been even easier.
Things were looking up. With Hei Fu as her partner, her strength would more than double!
Advanced classes were truly amazing. And she hadn’t even unlocked hers yet—imagine when she did.
The players hiding by the B2 entrance now rushed in.
They were shocked by Hei Fu’s ferocity, but more concerned about how there had only been one Bai Fu when they arrived, and now there were two. Did that room have a duplication function?
【If that’s true, can we duplicate more Bai Fus? Ideally one for each person】
【I hereby name this the Era of Big Bai Fu!】
The players in the livestream room were ecstatic.
A player on-site asked, “Fu Fu, what’s going on here? Why is there a black-haired Fu Fu too?”
“I’ll explain later. Right now, let’s deal with the Insect Tide first.”
Bai Fu intentionally kept them guessing. She wanted them to speculate, to discuss, to build hype.
The players had no comeback. Right now, eliminating the Insect Tide was indeed more urgent.
By observing the Sandworms’ movements, Bai Fu had more or less figured out the cause of the Insect Tide. These Sandworms were most likely drawn by the dead Psionic Primordial.
Before Old Nissen first entered the lab, there were no Sandworms. After he went in once, Sandworms gradually started showing up nearby. When Bai Fu shattered the wall earlier, the Psionic Primordial was exposed—drawing even more Sandworms.
That was probably how it happened.
Since the value of the Psionic Primordial was unknown, Bai Fu didn’t touch it right away. Instead, she led the players out of the lab, killing everything along the way.
With her joining the fight, all Sandworms were nothing but little bros.
“You all stay here and keep an eye on the lab. Protect Old Nissen while you’re at it. I’ll go find out where these Sandworms are coming from.”
After giving instructions, Bai Fu followed the trail of the Insect Tide.
Navigating the desert was hard. Sandworms swam all over, and many of them were highly infectious. But none of that mattered to Bai Fu, who had 100% Psionic Resistance, a player map, and assistance from Tiny Bai Fu and Hei Fu.
She killed everything in her path. The Insect Tide fled in terror. Half an hour later, she reached her destination.
【Sandworm Nest - Cavern (Dangerous Map)】【Recommended Level 35–40】
In an oasis beside a dried-up riverbed, Bai Fu looked down into a deep pit. At the center was a green blob—disgusting to behold.
Surrounding it were hundreds, maybe thousands of Sandworm eggs—more nauseating than the blob itself.
Sometimes, a worm hatched from an egg. Sometimes, Sandworms from other areas crawled into the pit. Once they reached the green blob, their bodies visibly twisted and mutated.
Bai Fu watched as a Level 10 normal Sandworm transformed into a Level 17 special Sandworm. She also saw a Level 16 giant Sandworm become a Level 23 special giant Sandworm.
“This thing is mass-producing high-level Sandworms!”
She had to send it to the sky, fast.
But just after releasing two Tiny Bai Fus, Bai Fu shook her head.
Blowing it up would be a waste. This was basically a monster-spawning box that churned out Elite Mobs—and occasionally even mini-BOSSES.
If she combined this “spawn box” with the lab’s “monster-attracting cage”, she could create a dungeon themed around resisting Insect Tide invasions.
Currently, players didn’t lack places to grind monsters. What they lacked was a reliable, repeatable grind spot.
Too bad Version 1.1 hadn’t unlocked traditional game dungeons yet.
Back in the shelter, Bai Fu had heard many players complain that finding monsters to grind was too much hassle.
If she introduced a special scene where monsters respawned regularly and helped players solve that pain point, it would surely create a huge stir among players.
By then, before the real protagonists shaped by the main storyline made their debut, her popularity would be unbeatable—
No matter what tide—Dark Moon or whatever—this version belonged to her, Bai Fu!
There was another benefit to launching a dungeon focused on resisting Insect Tide invasions: she could sell even more Prayer Cards. The players who helped Old Nissen search for the lab had already proven on stream how useful Prayer Cards were in this dungeon.
“That’s it then!”
By the pit, Bai Fu placed several Eye of the Dark Moon Prayer Cards to monitor the situation. Then she turned back toward the lab, preparing to announce the good news to the players after the medal ceremony.
…
At the same time—
Amid the sea of sand—
A group of white-robed individuals trudged forward under the scorching sun.
“Priest, when will we find the Blessing of God?”
The leading white-robed man was drenched in sweat. He licked his parched lips, gazed at the shimmering air in the distance, and spoke hoarsely.
“I don’t know. Maybe in the next second, maybe in a year or two. The demon has descended. This is God’s test for us.”
Weariness was etched into everyone’s faces.
No matter what, for the sake of those left at the camp, they had to press on in search of the legendary Holy Relic.
