Chapter 1014 - 1033: Uncle Liang’s Hidden Worries
An Nan and Lin Mubai arrived at the apartment, only to find it completely empty. An Nan started to panic first, while Lin Mubai remained relatively calm. He quickly took out his phone, dialing Aunt Fu’s number with a solemn expression. After several rings without an answer, he continued to dial Uncle Liang’s number, which finally got picked up.
Lin Mubai didn’t say much, but promptly handed the phone to his wife, knowing full well she was more anxious than he was.
With the phone in hand, An Nan hurriedly asked into the phone, "Uncle Liang, where did you and Aunt Fu go?"
The person on the other end, upon hearing the choked voice over the call, was immediately startled, "Nannan, what’s wrong? Why are you crying? I went to the mansion with Aunt Fu for the New Year. We thought you might be busy this year, so we didn’t tell you."
Beside him, Lin Mubai listened to the response on the phone, then took the phone back again and placed it to his ear.
"Uncle Liang, it’s okay now. We just came and saw you weren’t here, so Nannan got a little anxious. Wait for us there, Nannan and I will come over later."
"Alright, you drive safely on the way."
Lin Mubai hung up the phone, looking at his wife with a gentle smile, "Don’t cry. Crying during the New Year isn’t auspicious."
An Nan stubbornly stood there without saying a word.
Lin Mubai wrapped his arms around her, continuing softly, "Shall we go to the mansion now?"
Finally, the person in his embrace reacted, "Okay."
Lin Mubai shook his head helplessly, gently pinching her nose, no more words needed.
Even on the way, their conversation was minimal. Lin Mubai repeatedly glanced towards the person beside him, uncertain of her thoughts.
Meanwhile, at the Lin Family Mansion, after Uncle Liang hung up the call, he worriedly glanced towards the living room, then silently walked over to his wife.
Seeing him return, she smiled and asked, "Who was on the phone, old man?"
Uncle Liang didn’t hide anything, directly answering her question, "It was Mubai who called. They didn’t find us at the apartment, and Nannan almost cried from worry. I told them we came to the mansion; Mubai said they’ll come over shortly."
Aunt Fu, hearing the two kids were coming, immediately looked delighted, "Great, everyone will be together. Young master, I’m genuinely glad to see you’re still in this world. Stay today, everyone will have a nice meal together. I’ll personally cook."
Saying this, Aunt Fu held onto the other person’s hand for a long time, unwilling to let go.
An Liyang was someone she watched grow up. Although she didn’t like his mother much, she genuinely liked this child. When the accident happened back then, she was heartbroken for a long, long time, yet never expected this child would still be alive.
Though she was curious about what really happened, deep inside she still believed nothing mattered more than someone being alive.
An Liyang heard An Nan would arrive soon and was about to refuse, but before he could speak, he was sternly rejected, "Don’t say anything about leaving. Aunt Fu knows in her heart, though Nannan hasn’t said anything over the years, she misses you, her brother, very much. She’ll be shocked to see you when she comes."
