When the Wind is Sweet: The Fairy Tale of Mr. and Mrs. Lancaster

Chapter 793: Mrs. Lancaster’s Vision

Chapter 793: Mrs. Lancaster’s Vision

Claire Keller led them to the hand-washing pool in the backyard. Before offering incense, everyone had to wash their hands as part of the ritual.

The sound of wind rustling through the leaves was audible, and the bodyguards stood five meters away.

Claire’s thoughts were chaotic; her vision blurred several times, her head buzzed, and her throat felt unbearably constricted.

Everyone seemed so familiar... yet so distant. This feeling was deeply distressing for her.

Does Caleb still remember her?

His eyes seemed calm, yet perhaps there was something... she couldn’t quite discern.

Does he know that she took care of him for twenty years?

What about Eliza Hayes? Does she know?

Whether those letters reached them was still a mystery to Claire.

After washing their hands, they approached the Bodhisattva.

Claire offered three sticks of incense to each of them, performing the gestures with courtesy and precision, but her gaze never directly met theirs.

Because she lacked the courage.

Not until completing all the rituals did Claire perceive the tacit understanding between the couple and realize how deeply they loved each other; his declarations in the news weren’t just for show.

Perhaps Caleb had long forgotten her?

The painful yet joyful twenty years, erased entirely from his memory...

At this thought, she felt as though plunged into an icy cavern.

Yet, when he saw her just now, there was clearly something in his eyes. Was she mistaken?

"Master Miro, I need to request a ’Peaceful Life’ fortune bag," Eliza Hayes spoke softly, her gaze falling on Claire.

But Claire was clearly distracted, seemingly not hearing her, as she gave no response.

Eliza Hayes didn’t speak further, instead turning her gaze to her husband, whose attention was focused on Claire’s back, bearing a heaviness and sorrow.

She thought for a moment, then smiled, holding onto his arm and softly called, "Caleb."

The mention of Caleb instantly drew Claire back to the present, turning to see Eliza Hayes looking affectionately at the man and saying—

"Caleb, I’m going to the restroom; don’t forget to request a Peaceful Fortune Bag for our granddaughter."

"Alright."

Having said that, Eliza Hayes walked away without glancing back here, nor did she look at Claire, who had already turned her head.

Despite suppressing the heartache and her unwillingness, as Mrs. Lancaster, she understood that as a victor, she ought to be magnanimous, giving them at least five minutes, watching their awkwardness!

Soon, her figure disappeared from Caleb Lancaster’s sight, as he turned his gaze back to Claire.

Dressed in simple clothes, wearing a hat, Claire Keller, who had become a nun for him, stood with tears in her eyes, desperately holding back her sorrow as she looked at him.

Those few seconds of gaze felt like an eternity to her...

As if filled with countless words, yet she didn’t know how to begin, "..." She wanted to cry but felt it was wrong. What right did she have to cry?

So, she adjusted her gaze, striving hard to control her emotions, and softly asked, "Mr. Lancaster, would you like to request another Peaceful Fortune Bag?"

He replied, "Request two." His gaze did not evade.

"Alright, please wait a moment." The woman turned back, again taking two red fortune bags from the drawer, and asked, "Which two names would you like?"

"Joy Lancaster," Caleb replied gently, standing firmly, his posture straight, gentlemanly and warm.

Claire Keller finished blessing the fortune bag, then picked up another and asked him, "And the other name?"

"Claire Keller," his voice as rich and deep as brewed wine.

"..."

The woman thought she had misheard, holding the fortune bag in shock and turning back, meeting the man’s unwavering, resolute gaze once more.
