Chapter 401: Everything Is Getting Better
Chapter 401: Everything Is Getting Better
"What’s wrong?" He could sense the subtle change in his wife’s mood and gently asked, "Do you have something you want to tell me?"
She shook her head, reached out, and hooked her arm through his, gently resting her head on his shoulder.
No matter what happens, Faye Turner would stay by his side.
She had already fallen in love with him, and now she felt an additional sense of heartache toward him, making the love all the more intense.
Soon, the car was allowed through the gate and drove into the yard.
Faye Turner and Adrian Lancaster got out of the car.
Seeing them, the staff and bodyguards respectfully greeted them, "Hello, Mr. Lancaster, hello, Madam."
Once they entered the living room, they went straight upstairs.
Caleb Lancaster, as usual, was sitting in the wheelchair with his head tilted. He was clean and tidy, having been bathed by a caretaker. He exuded a faint post-bath fragrance.
The people here took good care of him, letting him see hope.
Upon entering, the people inside greeted the couple.
Faye Turner’s gaze fell on the face that looked almost identical to Adrian’s, intensifying her doubts.
How could they look so alike and yet not be his father?
"President Lancaster, Madam," reported the healthcare staff, "Mr. Lancaster’s condition has clearly improved. We’ve observed that his sleep quality is good, and we’ve been helping him with muscle rehabilitation training. His muscles are starting to respond."
"Thank you for your hard work." Adrian Lancaster spoke gently, fixing his gaze on the man in the wheelchair, "Father does look better today."
"Doctor," Faye inquired, "is there anything else? We would like... to take Dad out for a walk."
"That’s fine, that’s fine, I’ve completed all the check-ups for today."
Just like that, Faye, as usual, brought a light blanket.
She knelt in front of the wheelchair, gently draping it over Caleb Lancaster’s knees, "You can use this when it gets windy. Dad, I brought Adrian here, as I promised."
She lifted her gaze and smiled at him.
Caleb’s slightly dazed eyes met hers.
Faye seized the opportunity to observe his expression, vowing to cure him and find a breakthrough to uncover the truth buried within the Lancaster Family.
She smiled as she stood up, "Let’s go."
Adrian Lancaster pushed the wheelchair while she walked alongside, taking their father downstairs.
The deep autumn sky was as blue as a wash; today, there was sunlight, and as the breeze blew, there was no chill—it was perfect for a walk.
If he were Adrian Lancaster’s father, then this would be the most beautiful scene; everything was improving, curing the father, saving the mother...
What a pity...
Faye Turner was uncertain of the next step to take or perhaps what might happen someday in the future.
During the walk, Adrian Lancaster briefed his father about the company’s recent status.
Regardless of whether he could understand, he felt that a father would naturally be concerned about and want to know about his son.
It was just that he was gravely ill and couldn’t speak.
Faye had said he was conscious, and Adrian Lancaster was willing to believe that.
They stayed at the villa for two hours, mainly to accompany the man in the wheelchair and then to communicate with the doctor about his situation.
In the Lamborghini on the way home, Faye sat beside him.
"Faye, are you hiding something from me?" Adrian Lancaster turned and asked her.
The girl was slightly stunned, then lifted the corners of her lips in a smile, "No, what could I possibly be hiding from you?"
"I noticed earlier that you occasionally spaced out."
"When was that?"
"While we were walking with Dad." He couldn’t help but worry, lightly frowning, "Is it that... he can’t be cured?"
Faye met his gaze, secretly breathing a sigh of relief.
He said, "Even if Dad can’t be cured, I hope to accompany him like this."
Faye quickly grasped his hand and asked with a smile, "Didn’t you hear what the doctor said? His condition is improving; his sleep quality is better, and the muscle rehabilitation training is effective. How could he not be cured?"
Right, that’s what the doctor said.
But...
Adrian Lancaster wasn’t sure if he was just being paranoid.
Faye then told him, "In another week, I will prescribe some Chinese medicine for him and try to feed it to him."
Now, she had gained some of his trust, but perhaps not entirely.
So, Faye wanted to build trust first, and she had a week to do so.
After a short while, Adrian’s phone rang. He glanced at the caller ID and answered it in front of his wife, "Hello."
"President Lancaster, we’ve found out the matter you asked us to investigate," reported the person on the other end of the phone.
