Chapter 368: Grandpa Is Back
Chapter 368: Grandpa Is Back
"His voice was louder than his mother’s!"
In front of so many people, Eliza Hayes was so furious that her chest heaved violently! She truly wished she could kill him!
Her eyes widened in anger, flames flickering in her gaze, and she suddenly rushed toward Adrian Lancaster like a madwoman—
"You ungrateful son! I’ll strangle you!"
Adrian Lancaster raised his hand and delivered a slap, smashing it onto her face with full force!
Smack—!
The sound was crisp and loud!
Everyone’s eyes widened in shock, and hearts raced with disbelief!
Eliza Hayes staggered, losing her balance, and spun before falling to the ground!
With one hand supporting her body, the other covering the swollen side of her face, her vision filled with stars, her mind went blank, and then instantly cleared.
But after a few seconds of clarity, her heart also grew cold.
What was she doing?
What had she done?
She didn’t even consider the disgrace of being struck by her own son in front of so many people.
Adrian Lancaster had remained clear-headed; he did not regret his actions.
He looked at his mother with eyes still carrying a trace of coldness!
Just then, the old man returned, his car stopping in the courtyard.
After getting out, he walked toward the living room with the support of his dragon-head cane, feeling delighted when he saw the parked Lamborghini nearby. Adrian and Faye were back?
However, it was work hours, and parked behind the Lamborghini was a black off-road vehicle.
The old man felt an inexplicable sense of foreboding, quickly striding toward the living room.
The first thing he saw were several men beaten beyond recognition, who were stumbling to their feet, faces bruised, blood at the corners of their mouths, giving the old man a fright.
And not far away, the daughter-in-law lay on the ground, one hand covering her face—was there a conflict?
Moreover, Faye had not returned.
Only Adrian was there, his expression iron-faced, and Nanny Warren looked terrified.
There were several bodyguards present, clearly Adrian Lancaster’s men.
The servants and the butler in the house all hung their heads in panic, only lifting them like a lifeline upon seeing the old man enter.
"Old master," someone softly greeted.
The couple slowly turned their gaze, only to see the silver-haired old man standing not far away, looking stern and asking in a deep voice, "What happened? What is going on?!"
Eliza Hayes held her face, standing up slowly now that she was clear-headed, but lacking the courage to face the old man.
Even though she was the one slapped, it was she who was in the wrong, and terribly so.
Adrian Lancaster gestured to his subordinates, who dragged away the beaten men, reducing the number of people in the living room by eight.
The fewer people there were, the more eerie the atmosphere became.
Grandfather focused on the mother and son, the old man’s authority hard to ignore.
Despite his age, his mind wasn’t muddled, and from observing everyone’s expressions, he could basically guess who had provoked whom.
For Adrian Lancaster to rush over during work hours and bring such a crowd, it had to be something major!
"Adrian, what exactly happened?" Grandpa chose not to question Eliza Hayes, instead fixing his gaze on his treasured grandson.
Adrian Lancaster didn’t hold back, briefly and truthfully telling Grandpa everything he knew right in front of his mother and Nanny Warren.
As the old man listened more and more, his face grew increasingly unsightly, angrily shouting, "Eliza Hayes!"
The middle-aged woman took another slap without anyone comforting her, and with the old man’s angry roar, she felt her chest tighten heavily, slowly removing the hand covering her cheek.
She dared not lift her eyes to look at him; the old man had treated her like a daughter over the years.
Grandpa was exceedingly angry, angrier than ever before, his trembling hand gripping the cane and striking the ground with a resounding thud—
"I can’t believe it! How could you do such a vile, crazy thing?! You’ve disappointed me! Disappointed me!!"
"Dad..." Eliza Hayes raised tearful eyes, not wanting the old man’s health to suffer from anger, her heart caring for the old man, yet not knowing how to defend herself.
She had indeed done wrong.
Adrian Lancaster didn’t want to waste too much time here; his wife was still lying in the hospital.
So he seized the opportunity to say, "Grandfather, I want to take Father away; my Mom, with her twisted mind, can’t properly care for a patient!"
