Chapter 331: President Lancaster’s Deep Resentment
Adrian Lancaster raised his glass and calmly said to everyone, "Come on, let’s have a toast."
Everyone felt a bit disappointed but felt too embarrassed to say it out loud, knowing that time was even more valuable to him than money.
If it weren’t for Evan Sharp today, they probably wouldn’t have been able to see him. With Adrian Lancaster’s status, he had no need to maintain ties with former classmates; it was always others wanting to curry favor with him.
So, despite their reluctance, except for Sienna, they all raised their glasses and stood up.
Adrian also stood up, glanced sideways, his deep and calm gaze falling on the face of the girl who remained seated, "Not joining us for a toast?"
Sienna felt a mix of emotions, suppressing her feelings, she gently picked up her glass and stood up.
But when she finally mustered the courage to look at him, he had already looked away.
Adrian clinked glasses with everyone equally, his voice low and pleasant, "I’m really sorry. Enjoy yourselves, everything today, be it the food or the singing, it’s all on me. Have fun."
With that, he tilted his head back and drank the wine in his glass in one go.
Sienna took a light sip.
Adrian set his glass down gently, turned to Evan, and said, "You stay and enjoy with them. Help entertain them. I’ve messaged Mr. Kerr to come pick me up."
"Has he arrived?"
"He should be almost here." With that, Adrian spoke once more to everyone, "See you later." Then, without sitting back down, he walked straight out.
Watching the man leave with such an outstanding back view, Sienna felt deeply disappointed. Faced with the table full of delicacies, she lost her appetite.
So, she gathered her courage and said, "Dear classmates, I’ll just go to the restroom and be back shortly." Putting down her glass, she quickly followed him out.
Under the shocked and questioning gazes of all the classmates, the former couple left one after the other.
Someone then began to whisper—
"Oh my, do you think... Sienna still has feelings for Adrian?"
"She kept glancing at Adrian just now, her look at him wasn’t the same as the way she looked at us! She really paid attention to him."
"Fate seems so negligible, even if she still has feelings for him, Adrian is already married."
"Have you ever seen a rich man with only one wife? The power of a first love cannot be underestimated."
"What are you talking about?" Evan couldn’t stand it any longer and said seriously, "Let me tell you, Adrian Lancaster is not that kind of person! He is very devoted!"
The spacious private room went quiet for a few seconds, and then everyone started chatting again.
"Evan, do you know why Adrian and Sienna broke up back then?"
"I don’t know." Evan doesn’t like discussing other people’s private matters. While eating, he remarked, "How many first-love couples have you seen get married?"
"That’s true..."
"I’ve really never seen one."
"Very, very few."
"I’ve seen one, but they already got divorced. What does a seventeen or eighteen-year-old know about love?"
In the private room, everyone continued eating and chatting.
In the lavishly decorated hall of the club, Sienna finally caught up with Adrian’s pace.
He stopped intentionally as he heard urgent footsteps of a woman and saw her catching up with him.
Wearing high heels, Sienna stood still in front of him, slightly out of breath, looking at him intently.
Seeing him again, she couldn’t help but have ripples in her heart, her eyes filled with complex emotions.
Adrian remained calm, exuding a cool aura.
"Adrian, long time no see." She smiled and spoke, the familiar tone as she took the initiative to greet him.
Adrian’s eyes remained cool, just looking at her as he pondered for three seconds.
Then he sighed lightly, "I really didn’t expect to meet again in this lifetime."
From his tone, she sensed a hint of sarcasm and mockery, which made her very sad, "Adrian, I’m sorry."
"Sorry for what?" Adrian asked her, then slightly curled his lips and asked again, "Sorry for what?"
This resentful rhetorical question pierced one after the other like needles into her heart, causing palpable pain.
For a moment, it left her speechless, as if everything she might say was wrong.
Even though there were many things she wanted to say to him, Sienna lowered her eyes sadly, looking just as fragile and endearing as she did back then.
