When the Wind is Sweet: The Fairy Tale of Mr. and Mrs. Lancaster

Chapter 317: An Unexpected Phone Call

Chapter 317: An Unexpected Phone Call

"What are you doing? Have you eaten?" Adrian Lancaster asked warmly, though it was clear he missed her and wasn’t calling for anything important.

Such a simple greeting, but to Faye Turner’s ears, it was incredibly heartwarming.

"I already ate. What about you? Are you not busy today? How come you have time to call me?"

In fact, she missed him too. While making clothes for him, she often got distracted but held back from contacting him.

"Not too busy," Adrian replied warmly. "What are you doing?"

"I... I’m reading," she smiled gently, of course not telling him she was making a suit for him.

"Hmm, I’ll come home early today. What would you like to eat?" he offered to bring her some food.

This surprised Faye. Could it be that today’s call really had no important matters to discuss?

Just purely asking what she wanted to eat? Wanting to hear her voice?

"Anything’s fine. Whatever you think is tasty, just bring me some," she replied, feeling even bitter melon would taste sweet right now.

Adrian was touched by her voice and smiled. "Okay, then I’ll have to think carefully."

"Mm-hmm," she laughed.

After chatting a bit more, they hung up. Not only was Adrian in an inexplicably good mood, but the smile on Faye’s face also never faded as she made his suit at home.

She realized she was truly in love with him... uncontrollably and hopelessly.

These small daily warmths are the most soothing to a person’s heart.

But after a short while, the phone by the cutting table rang again.

Faye happily picked up the phone, thinking it was Adrian calling again. Instead, the screen displayed the word ’Mother-in-law.’

This left Faye stunned.

She recovered, put down the scissors, stood upright, and stared at the number in disbelief.

The ringtone continued.

Faye had never dialed this number but had saved it in advance from Adrian since it was his mother.

Eliza Hayes calling her was something Faye couldn’t believe.

The ringtone continued...

She dared not delay and quickly slid to answer, "Hello, mom," putting the phone gently to her ear.

"Faye," Eliza Hayes’s warm and friendly voice came through, "Are you working today? Busy?"

Being called Faye startled Faye with delight.

It left her momentarily frozen, as the warm feeling swept over her, and she quickly replied, "Not busy, mom. I’m at home today, didn’t go to the office, Adrian went to work."

"Hmm," Eliza’s tone was relaxed, "Lately, I’ve been sleeping well, all thanks to your herbs, thank you."

Hearing this made Faye very happy, "Really, there’s no need to thank me."

"My appetite isn’t great. Can you help improve this? Although I’m not fond of drinking traditional medicine, if it’s effective, I’m willing to persist for a few days," She stated the purpose of the call.

Faye immediately replied, "Of course, it’s my honor that you’re willing to trust me and drink the traditional medicine I prescribe."

"So, when you have time, can you bring some medicine over?" Eliza maintained her smile, "You can also help Nanny Warren adjust her health; her back pain has been troubling her for many years, and it aches when it’s windy or rainy. Would you help her when you’re back?"

"Sure," Faye was delighted, "I’ll come over another day to check her pulse and prescribe medicine for her; that way, it will be more precise."

Mother-in-law and daughter-in-law chatted a bit more before ending the call.

Holding the phone, Faye had a moment of daze as if the circumstances she had always wanted to change had just changed like that?

Upon deeper thought, it seemed impossible... Faye put down the phone and couldn’t help but lose herself in thought.
