When the Wind is Sweet: The Fairy Tale of Mr. and Mrs. Lancaster

Chapter 314: Is Kindness Only Pretended?

Chapter 314: Is Kindness Only Pretended?

Faye’s arrangements were meticulous, and Miss Lane had someone prepare baby food for the six-month-old child, making sure it was slightly cooled before serving.

She also brought dinner for Rachel, with a lavish selection comparable to a five-star hotel meal.

After eating, Rachel cradled June in her arms to lull her to sleep. Staring at her daughter’s peaceful sleeping face, she felt a pang of sadness.

"I’m sorry, June..." she whispered softly, kissing her daughter’s forehead, her voice full of guilt, "Mommy can no longer give you a complete family."

She had decided to divorce.

The same night, the wind of late autumn was slightly cool.

In the deep courtyard of the old Lancaster family house, Nanny Warren brought a cup of warm milk into Eliza Hayes’ bedroom.

Eliza was fiddling with a pot of flowers, appearing to be in a rather good mood, with a rare smile on her face.

To Nanny Warren, that smile seemed a bit eerie.

Nanny Warren stopped beside her with the milk cup, handing over the warm milk, her gaze lingering on Eliza for a long time.

"Nanny Warren, I know you want to say something." Eliza was in a good mood, "You must find it incredible, why I suddenly accepted them, right?"

Knowing her well, Nanny Warren didn’t think this was a good thing, so she remained silent for a long time, her questioning gaze fixed on Eliza’s face.

Eliza put down the scissors in her hand, smiled, and took the milk she handed over, "Get some rest early. I’ll sleep after drinking this. See you tomorrow."

She was indeed in a good mood.

Who knows what she was planning.

Nanny Warren reminded her in a bland tone, "Ma’am, think twice before acting. Some mistakes, once made, can never be redeemed."

The woman stuffed the half-drunk milk back into her hand, coldly saying, "Out!"

Nanny Warren held the cup, "Ma’am, what exactly are you up to?" For just last night, she was gnashing her teeth in hatred towards Faye.

Eliza met her gaze, a hint of a smile on her lips, and said leisurely, "How could I possibly do anything without you knowing? So, just wait and see."

That night, Eliza slept well.

But it was Nanny Warren who lost her sleep, the more she thought about it, the more anxious she became.

Thinking of Faye’s clear eyes, her innocent smile, Nanny Warren felt a pang of sympathy.

Early the next morning, Faye gently knocked on Rachel’s door.

The moment the door opened, Rachel hugged Faye, "Faye..." her heart full of apology.

Faye hugged her back, softly comforting her for a moment before taking her downstairs to eat.

Miss Lane came into the room to keep company with the still sleeping June.

In the grand and stylish dining room downstairs.

Seeing Adrian Lancaster, Rachel first bowed to apologize for the interview matter, and then thanked him for providing shelter for her last night.

"Don’t worry about it," Adrian said warmly, eating with grace, "The interview issue is already a closed Chapter for me."

Faye said to her, "Rachel, don’t be so reserved, he’s actually a pretty good person."

The man peeling looked up, "Thank you, dear, for the compliment."

Faye couldn’t help but smile, sitting down next to Rachel, who gathered the courage to tell her what had happened yesterday.

"That’s just outrageous, hanging out with that woman and still lying to you about finding a job in the neighboring city?" Faye scoffed, "I’ve seen right through him, trash!"

Rachel was very upset, but she couldn’t show it, nor was there anything worth showing. "I brought up divorce with him, but he disagreed."

Adrian Lancaster could see that this marriage truly had no reason to continue, "Recently, gather the evidence that can strengthen your case for winning child custody; my friend will be back soon."

Faye had some evidence too, regarding Dylan Shaw’s extravagant expenses, like buying necklaces for that woman.

"Rachel, what do you think? Do you want him to leave the marriage with nothing?" Faye asked.
