Chapter 309: Faye Turner Is Truly Wonderful
Chapter 309: Faye Turner Is Truly Wonderful
"Adrian Lancaster! Do you realize that words can sometimes be like sharp blades! Hurting someone’s heart isn’t something you can fix with just an ’I’m sorry, it’s okay’!!"
"Did you watch that interview yourself? What were those words? Can you even bear to watch it? Does grandpa like it?! Did you marry a wife for grandpa?!"
"I think you’ve gone too long without a thrashing, and now you’re itching for one! You think grandpa dotes on you and loves you! So, you speak so recklessly?! Have you no sense at all!"
"Have you seen what’s being said online now?! It’s nonstop, day in and day out! What’s wrong with Faye?! Does she deserve an attitude like this from you?!"
Grandpa became more and more agitated, almost furious!
Adrian Lancaster hung his head, looking guilty.
He prayed grandpa would vent all his frustrations and not suppress any emotions.
Outside the door, Mr. Hayes and Faye Turner hadn’t left. Even though the door was closed, they could clearly hear everything the old man had just said.
They both felt heavy-hearted.
Faye Turner felt heartbroken for Adrian Lancaster; she couldn’t hold back anymore and pushed the door open, walking back into grandpa’s bedroom.
Faye’s appearance halted grandpa’s words, and he softened a bit.
"Grandpa..."
She squatted beside the bed, reaching out to hold the old man’s hand that rested outside the blanket—
"Grandpa, it wasn’t intentional on his part. He’s already apologized to me. Actually, there’s a reason behind all this—it was my fault; I was the one who messed up from the start."
These words bewildered the old man, who looked at her, puzzled.
Faye bravely recounted how she helped Rachel Sherman by tricking Adrian Lancaster into the café under grandpa’s name, then locking the door behind them, explaining the whole sequence of events.
The old man was a bit shocked after listening but didn’t blame her. The anger in his heart toward his precious grandson eased somewhat.
But he still couldn’t understand Adrian’s actions.
Looking up at Adrian Lancaster, grandpa’s expression was still grim, "You really are something! Why couldn’t you just agree to such a simple request?"
"I..."
Adrian Lancaster found himself at a loss for words! He had been willing later on, but she hadn’t mentioned it again.
He was actually hoping she would bring it up again, so he could seriously discuss conditions with her... or, when she was bathing, ask her to scrub his back, just to tease her.
Perhaps he didn’t even realize that he had truly fallen in love with her.
"Grandpa, won’t you please stop being angry? It’s really not worth it to get so upset." Faye, like a little angel, lovingly rested on the bedside, blinking her bright eyes, "He has already apologized to me and explained to the media. Tomorrow, the news won’t be like this any longer."
"Sigh!" The old man sighed, "Faye, Adrian Lancaster’s terrible temper must have caused you quite a bit of grievance?"
"No, no." The girl quickly shook her head with a smile, "He’s really good to me. This afternoon, he even specially canceled work to accompany me for a prenatal check-up!"
"Really?"
"Yes! Really!" She happily shared the results of the check-up with grandpa, "Everything’s normal. The doctor said the baby’s legs are sure to be long, like the father’s!"
At the mention of the child in her womb, grandpa’s mood improved significantly. His wrinkled face broke into a smile, even his cloudy eyes filled with happiness.
The atmosphere in the bedroom lightened considerably.
Then Faye stood up and sat on the edge of the bed, "Grandpa, would you like me to take your pulse and then have someone prepare some traditional medicine?"
The old man sighed lightly and nodded, "Okay."
Adrian Lancaster stood a short distance away, watching his wife take grandpa’s pulse, then write out a prescription by hand. Watching her like this, he couldn’t help but be lost in thought.
How could there be such a kind girl in this world?
Just looking at her profile, her long black hair covering half of her face, the exposed shape of her nose was so beautiful.
It gave him a sense of déjà vu...
"It’s done." Faye put down the pen, turned her eyes to hand the prescription to him, "Will you ask Mr. Hayes to get the medicine?"
In that moment when their eyes met, time seemed to stand still.
