Chapter 832: Don’t Be Afraid, I’m Here! (2)

Jiayu vaguely heard the sound of a car approaching. She glanced up and saw an unremarkable van, seemingly pulling over to the side.

Jiayu didn’t pay it much mind and continued to look down, typing a text message, while taking a step back.

As she pressed the "send" button, she felt a strong force grab her arm before she could even lift her head. The next moment, something was covering her mouth.

A pungent odor assaulted her senses, and shortly after, her mind went blank. Just before she lost consciousness, her only thought was "danger."

But she couldn’t do anything about it.

——

After sending a text message to Jiayu, Mu Ke pondered briefly and then walked out of the civil affairs bureau.

The streets in the early morning were already bustling with people rushing to work. His gaze landed on a vehicle not far away.

It was a small pickup truck loaded with many foam boxes, parked behind a flower shop, seemingly there to deliver flowers.

Mu Ke walked over, and when he came out, he had a bouquet of roses in hand. The simplest wrapping, but the flowers were fresh and lush, uplifting his mood.

Mu Ke got back into the car. It wasn’t far from where Jiayu lived, so he decided to pick her up rather than wait for her there.

The girl he had loved for thirteen years was finally going to become his wife today. Just the thought of it made his heart race.

As he approached Jiayu’s apartment complex, his phone beeped with a message. He glanced at it, and a smile appeared on his lips.

His gaze swept over the front, where a van was parked next to a tree, then quickly drove off. Mu Ke merely glanced at it without giving it much thought.

Parking the car at the side, Mu Ke immediately called Jiayu.

After a few rings with no answer, Mu Ke frowned, got out of the car, and dialed again.

Someone on the street turned their head, seemingly looking at something, and Mu Ke took a couple of steps towards the apartment entrance, suddenly pausing when he thought he heard a phone ringing.

Scanning his surroundings, he didn’t see any familiar figures, but the ringtone was unmistakably Jiayu’s.

"Hey, whose phone is this?"

A few steps away, an elderly person out for a morning exercise was holding up a phone and shouting, causing Mu Ke to narrow his eyes and hurry over.

It was Jiayu’s phone, displaying his number on the screen.

But why was her phone here?

This was where the van had just parked...

Because there was a large tree here, along with a waist-high garbage bin, Mu Ke hadn’t seen clearly, but if... if...

He stopped thinking, a cold sweat breaking out down his back.

Mu Ke reacted swiftly, rushing into the security office of the apartment complex. This was a high-end residential area, with surveillance cameras at the entrance.

In the footage, Mu Ke soon saw the scene he had missed earlier.

Jiayu was standing there, her head lowered while doing something. Then, a van pulled up in front of her, and a man wearing a hat and mask got out, grabbing her...

It wasn’t very clear, but it was evident that Jiayu was dragged into the van by the man.

The van’s license plate was completely obscured by a sticker reading "Forever Bonded," making it impossible to see.

Mu Ke’s expression turned extremely grim.

Without a word, he dashed out.

What was that? A kidnapping?
