Chapter 819: I Only Want to Marry Her (9)

Mu Ke’s words made the atmosphere a little awkward, Mu Xin glanced at him and Jiayu, and sensibly left.

Jiayu also put down the things in her hand, moved over next to Mu Ke, and placed her hand on his arm: "Not going well?"

Mu Ke smiled at her, then leaned over to gently kiss her forehead before speaking: "Trust me, I can handle it."

Jiayu pressed her lips, remained silent for two seconds, and uttered, "Hmm."

The weather today was exceptionally good; there wasn’t any wind even in the evening. Mu Ke took Jiayu to a restaurant in Lijiang for dinner, and then the two started strolling along the riverside.

Not far away, two sightseeing yachts were docked. S City is an international metropolis but a new city, lacking many tourist attractions, so this river that runs through the city is almost the only scenic spot for tourism.

A lot of illumination work has been done along both banks of the river; taking a yacht trip along the river is quite nice.

"Do you want to go?"

Mu Ke pointed to the yachts ahead and asked.

Jiayu didn’t really care, but since Mu Ke asked, she nodded: "Sure."

Probably because it was winter, there weren’t many people on the yachts; most were couples, engrossed with each other, rarely speaking to others.

Mu Ke bought tickets, took Jiayu on board, went to the deck, and looked at the pitch-black water below. Jiayu suddenly laughed: "I remember watching Titanic when I was little, felt so sad at the end, I swore I’d never go on a boat again in this lifetime."

Mu Ke frowned slightly, his tone cold: "Don’t worry, even if this yacht sinks now, we wouldn’t die. There’s no wind now, the river’s current isn’t fast, plus safety measures here are decent, and the down jackets we’re wearing can somewhat act as life-saving tools."

Jiayu: "..."

Should she say "Thank you"? Is this how you comfort someone? Too much of a buzzkill!

Jiayu ignored him, stretched her hand to hold the railing, gazing at the scenery along the riverbanks.

After a while, Jiayu felt something was amiss; Mu Ke was clearly standing behind her but was silent.

Just as Jiayu turned her head, her forehead brushed against Mu Ke’s chin; evidently, they were very close, and Mu Ke’s eyes were fixated on her fingers, more specifically, the ring on her hand.

His gaze was deep and dark, making Jiayu feel a bit uneasy being watched by him, suddenly Mu Ke placed his hand over hers, the ring clamped between them, causing a noticeable discomfort on her skin.

"What’s the matter?"

Mu Ke moved a bit closer, almost embracing Jiayu, who softly asked.

"Happy."

Mu Ke’s voice was soft, yet carried a hint of ripple, softening and sweetening one’s heart.

She knew why he was happy but... proposing successfully on New Year’s Eve, being happy about it now, isn’t that a bit of a delayed reaction?

Jiayu curled her lips slightly, then heard Mu Ke ask: "How do you want the wedding?"

"Huh?"

A wedding?

Though discussing the wedding right after the proposal is normal, given their current situation with parental opposition, is it a bit inappropriate to talk about the wedding now?

As if seeing through her thoughts, Mu Ke’s low, pleasant voice continued: "No one can stop our wedding, so think about it, what kind of wedding do you want?"
