Chapter 298: Birthday Banquet (Part 8)

Tang Yanqi did not think any further. No matter what, she wouldn’t want this ten percent, so whether it took effect or not had nothing to do with her.

Tang Yanqi put the things down, turned her head to look outside the window, walked for a while, then the car stopped again. Sheng Jianan turned around and took a stack of items from the bag behind him, handing them to Tang Yanqi.

"What is this?"

Tang Yanqi was a bit surprised. She glanced down and found that these were some things resembling invitations.

"Who else do you want to invite to the birthday party?"

Tang Yanqi was embarrassed. Was she supposed to send out invitations to invite people?

"No need, I don’t have anyone to invite."

Sheng Jianan didn’t mind, "That’s fine, better to have quality than quantity."

Tang Yanqi really didn’t want to invite anyone. Sheng Jianan was hosting the birthday party for her because of Mr. Sheng’s words. Raised in the Tang Family, even though she might not have eaten pork, she’s seen pigs run. For a birthday party in that circle, not only was she unfamiliar with her friends, even she herself felt unfamiliar. If Qi Cheng and the others came, it would only be awkward.

Tang Yanqi hadn’t cared about this matter from start to finish. Whatever Sheng Jianan arranged for her, she just did it.

The next morning, Sheng Jianan took her out early. Tang Yanqi didn’t know what he intended to do. After the car drove for a while, she realized that Sheng Jianan was taking her back to the Tang Family.

Apparently, he had already informed the Tang Family in advance. As soon as they arrived, Tang Ruhai and Shen Wanqing came out to meet them.

Shen Wanqing was full of smiles, presenting herself in an intimate manner that made Tang Yanqi feel uncomfortable no matter how she saw it.

"Originally, we thought about making something you love to eat tonight. Since Jianan is taking you to celebrate your birthday, we won’t participate."

Shen Wanqing said as she took a Dior box from under the coffee table and handed it to Tang Yanqi, "Wanwan, this is your mother’s birthday gift to you, happy birthday."

Tang Yanqi pulled at the corner of her mouth and softly said, "Thank you."

"Silly child, why be so formal with your mother."

Tang Ruhai was also generous, directly gifting Tang Yanqi a car.

Tang Yanqi felt increasingly uncomfortable, but since Sheng Jianan was there, she managed her appearance quite well.

After lunch, Sheng Jianan left early, leaving Tang Yanqi supposedly to spend time with her parents, promising that someone would come to pick her up later.

Sheng Jianan’s words made sense; any normal family on the child’s birthday would wish to spend more time with the child.

But they were not a normal family.

Sure enough, as soon as Sheng Jianan left, Shen Wanqing’s smile disappeared without a trace. She seemed to want to say something, but upon glancing at Tang Ruhai, she swallowed her words, glaring fiercely at Tang Yanqi, and turned to go upstairs.

Soon after, a loud sound of a door slamming came from upstairs.

"I have already contacted that side. After you finish celebrating your birthday, I will take you to see your mother."

Tang Yanqi nodded, not saying anything further. Although they were father and daughter, they were more distant than any stranger.

In the Tang Family, Tang Yanqi did not feel comfortable for a moment. She was relieved when Xiao Li came to pick her up, and without hesitation, she got up to leave.

"Wanwan, you forgot your things."

Tang Yanqi looked back at the Dior box and car keys she left on the sofa, then turned to signal Xiao Li to wait outside before speaking, "No need, I won’t be using those items. Maybe you’ve forgotten amidst many commitments, I don’t have a driving license."

After speaking, she didn’t wait for Tang Ruhai to say anything else and already stepped out the door.

Xiao Li opened the car door for her with a respectful manner and a bright face, "Young Madam, happy birthday."
