Chapter 274: Tang Yanqi’s Family Background (Part 4)

Tang Family Headquarters

Tang Ruhai sat in the boss’s chair, his brow slightly furrowed. He was a cunning old fox, and today Tang Yanqi’s loss of composure did not escape his eyes. He tapped his fingers on the desk and dialed a phone number, "Check for me where Miss has been today, and whom she met?"

After finishing speaking, Tang Ruhai stood up and walked towards the safe, turned the combination lock, and took out a document about a car accident. It was in this car accident that his daughter Tang Wan died.

Tang Ruhai squinted, although he was middle-aged, his eyes still sharp. Squinting made his eyes appear particularly narrow, increasingly like those of an old fox.

His thoughts gradually drifted afar; he did not hide from telling Tang Yanqi about what she asked, but he did keep one thing secret.

The car accident back then, the matters of that year, he knew them all. He knew who had deceived his daughter and knew who had killed his daughter too.

When Tang Wan had the accident, Shen Wanqing was devastated, and the Tang Family was plunged into chaos. Back then, the Tang Family was on the rise, and he did not allow any negative news to leak out. So, despite the pain of losing a daughter, the first thing Tang Ruhai thought of was how to respond. After all, for Tang Ruhai, children could be had again, and thus Tang Yanqi came into the Tang Family, to replace Tang Wan and become the Tang Family’s beloved daughter.

And the events of that year were swiftly suppressed by him; he explained to Shen Wanqing that it was just a case of kidnappers perishing alongside Tang Wan.

Tang Ruhai didn’t threaten Tang Yanqi with these facts, not because he was merciful, but simply because the time wasn’t ripe yet. For now, using her mother as a bargaining chip was enough; as for the things he held in his hand... the timing of the arrow had to be precise for the impact to be greater.

Tang Ruhai did not know whether Tang Yanqi had learned anything, but his many years of instinct made him have such a suspicion. If Tang Yanqi had already learned, then it was a matter of a released arrow, out of the bowstring, forced to fly.

On the other side, Tang Yanqi wandered the streets for a long time in a daze. She had agreed with Tang Ruhai to visit her mother the day after tomorrow. Even though she knew that visiting would not provide any answers, she felt a strong psychological urge, she just had to go, she must.

The phone in her pocket had rung many times before Tang Yanqi finally snapped back to reality, reaching out to take a look. There was a text from Qi Cheng, but more missed calls from Sheng Jianan.

Just as Tang Yanqi intended to call him back, the phone rang again; it was Sheng Jianan.

As soon as she answered, before she could speak, she was hit by a disgruntled accusation from the other side, "Tang Yanqi, you’ve got guts, daring not to answer my calls."

Tang Yanqi lowered her eyebrows and spoke softly, "I’m sorry, I didn’t hear it."

Her sincere apologetic tone left Sheng Jianan momentarily speechless, scratching his head in frustration, "Where are you?"

Upon hearing Sheng Jianan’s question, Tang Yanqi lifted her head to look around nearby. She herself didn’t know where she had walked after leaving the Tang Family, and now upon looking, she was surprised to find herself unwittingly standing at the headquarters of the Shengshi Group.

"I’m at your company entrance."

"Go inside and wait, I’ll be there soon."

Tang Yanqi was not in the mood to consider Sheng Jianan’s words; whatever he said, she just listened. Standing by the roadside, Tang Yanqi felt like a statue, her mind in disarray, with Sheng’s mother’s sentence "the murderer’s daughter" repeatedly surfacing.
