When Earth Awakened, I Became a Sword Saintess

Chapter 29 : Battle Against Tang Menglong

Chapter 29 : Battle Against Tang Menglong

29: Battle Against Tang Menglong

Tang Menglong, his surname was Tang, but he was not a Huaxia person.

He was about the same height as Lewis, but clearly a great deal more muscular. A pair of cold eyes revealed the cruelty unique to a Western strongman. He strode onto the fighting stage, drew a massive greatsword that required two hands, yet Tang Menglong could wield it easily with one.

The greatsword was about the same length as Yuyin's but twice as wide.

The wire mesh rose, and the match began!

The fervent crowd let out a roar that seemed to shake the Underground Fighting Arena. By now, half of the audience was cheering for Yuyin. Although the bets on Tang Menglong to win were still four times those on Yuyin, she was a local fighter from Lingdu, and a female one at that, which naturally made her popular.

Tang Menglong panted heavily, holding his greatsword as he advanced on Yuyin in large strides. He stopped a few paces away, looking down at the woman who was petite compared to him, "I won't be as careless as Lewis. And besides, I'm not interested in Eastern women."

"As it happens, I can't muster the slightest interest in Western men," Yuyin said, suppressing the physiological fear she felt toward the giant man, doing her best to make her state of mind cold and indifferent.

Although Yuyin had no interest in any man, here, she didn't need to explain.

Tang Menglong's thick, golden-brow furrowed powerfully. "Is that so? But I do have a bit of an interest in tearing apart a weak and vile woman!"

Suddenly, Tang Menglong roared, stepping forward as he swung the greatsword in a half-circle, chopping down toward Yuyin.

Tang Menglong's movement and sword draw were far faster than his seemingly heavy frame would suggest!

But at this moment, Yuyin's Primordial Energy was nearly one hundred. Her already sharp dynamic vision was now more than enough to capture all of Tang Menglong's attacks.

Her slender figure facing the giant's heavy sword was an unexpected sight. Far from dodging, she timed her move perfectly, also taking a quick step forward to meet him. Before the giant's sword could complete its fall and reach maximum speed, she struck first to parry.

Ting!

Sparks flew, and a crisp clang of metal echoed.

The greatsword in the hands of Tang Menglong, whose arms were as thick as Yuyin's waist, was knocked back at the same time as Yuyin's sword. For a moment, both of them staggered.

This was the essence of the Polaris Sword Art, seemingly simple yet profound: parry before the enemy's attack reaches its maximum force, seizing the initiative through timing, technique, and speed! Even though Yuyin's absolute strength was not yet a match for Tang Menglong's, she could still fight him head-on!

"This Qingyu, the Sword Maiden, can actually go head-to-head with the Western powerhouse, Tang Menglong, and not be at a disadvantage?" At the fighter and VIP seating, a stern-looking martial artist in a Tang suit exclaimed in shock. Although he might not be weaker than Tang Menglong, facing Tang Menglong's brute strength combined with his agility, a single mistake could lead to him being defeated in one move. He couldn't help but feel a sense of dread.

Both of them involuntarily took half a step back. Tang Menglong, for all his agility, was only relatively so. He had clearly lost his balance, flailing his arms to try and regain it.

Yuyin, on the other hand, adjusted her posture swiftly and nimbly as she retreated. Using the momentum of the recoil, she suddenly lunged forward in a sword step. The longsword in her hand carved a reverse arc, and with a flick of her wrist, she chopped upwards diagonally at Tang Menglong's chest.

"Oof!" Tang Menglong's heavy frame was still unsteady. He barely managed to swing his sword down to parry.

Clang!

This time, Tang Menglong's greatsword was knocked aside directly by Yuyin's longsword, as he had no time to adjust his posture and exert force.

Seizing the opportunity, Yuyin switched to a two-handed grip, adding force with her left hand. With a sudden twist and turn, she brought her sword down in a chop.

Thump!

The unsharpened blade chopped down heavily on Tang Menglong's thick chest, sending the giant staggering to his knees. His thick, studded leather belt snapped, and a deep dent was left on his chest.

"Ugh, ah..." Tang Menglong clutched his chest, letting out a cry of pain.

Yuyin did not press the attack, instead waiting for Tang Menglong to stand up.

Amidst the cheers for the Eastern Sword Maiden from the audience, the veins on Tang Menglong's forehead bulged. His adrenaline surged, making him forget the pain. His powerful body flushed red, and what seemed like an unconscious surge of Primordial Energy rose from him.

He let out a roar and suddenly burst forth, his greatsword chopping ferociously toward Yuyin.

"No! Watch out! Dodge!" the martial artist in the Tang suit couldn't help but shout.

This all-out attack was incredibly ferocious, full of power and rage. Everyone expected Yuyin to dodge, but instead, she stood her ground. Facing the falling greatsword, she swiftly struck out with her sword to intercept.

Ting!

Yuyin's longsword swiftly smacked the broad, flat side of Tang Menglong's greatsword, knocking it to one side. Tang Menglong's body, having put too much force into the strike, followed the greatsword, stumbling forward past Yuyin's side.

He flailed about, his head and torso completely exposed.

Yuyin's eyes focused. In the brief moment Tang Menglong was instinctively trying to regain his balance, she fluidly retracted her sword while turning her body. Gripping the sword with both hands, her movements were as smooth as flowing water, forming a bizarre contrast with Tang Menglong, who was clumsily scrambling and looked about to fall, as if they were in two completely different worlds of rhythm.

Whoosh!

Yuyin decisively chopped down on the solid side of Tang Menglong's head.

Half of Tang Menglong's face caved in. His eyes rolled back, and he spat out a mouthful of blood as he collapsed to one side.

His heavy body rolled all the way to the edge of the fighting stage.

Tang Menglong, defeated.

Perhaps the audience, after the last match, had acknowledged that Yuyin had some skill. But this was Tang Menglong! He was not on the same level as Lewis, that third-rate professional fighter. Besides, Lewis's underestimation of his opponent was a major factor in the last match. Tang Menglong was a true top-tier fighter who had been on a winning streak recently, and he had gone all out, yet he still lost?

Some in the audience might have thought that Yuyin, relying on her agility, had a slim chance of winning on points by dragging out the fight. But who could have imagined that this slender, tall woman would actually win through direct, frontal combat, defeating Tang Menglong in just two or three exchanges?

Who could have imagined that?

Tonight's battle was a shock to everyone, no less than the last one!

"Ding, you gained 10 Soul Charm Points from the astonished audience."

"You shattered Tang Menglong's discrimination against Eastern women and Eastern martial arts. Gained 10 Soul Charm Points."

"You gained 1 Soul Charm Point from Madame Butterfly's surprise, from..."

In this battle, Yuyin gained another 32 Soul Charm Points.

Madame Butterfly? Who was that?

"Qingyu, Qingyu, Qingyu!"

Amidst the announcer's various praises and the cheers of the crowd, Yuyin took the towel handed to her by a pole dancer, wiped herself lightly, and calmly walked off the fighting stage.

Just then, the manager, along with a group of assistants and bodyguards, came up to meet her.

"Miss Xia, our boss would like to see you," the manager whispered beside Yuyin.
