Chapter 194 : The Inheritance of Rain
Chapter 194 : The Inheritance of Rain
194: The Inheritance of Rain
Yuyin passed through the stone archway and proceeded along the dark cave. Wherever she went, torches with faint purple flames would occasionally light up, illuminating her path.
Along the way, Yuyin’s passage awakened many mechanical guards that lay dormant behind small doors in the cave walls. Although they would not attack her, they awoke because of her presence.
Yuyin continued forward, sometimes deliberately making loud noises to awaken the dormant mechanical guards scattered throughout. There were not just humanoid ones, but also serpentine guards, including small, venomous snakes and massive, coiled mechanical serpents over a dozen meters long.
These serpentine mechanical guards also would not attack Yuyin.
Yuyin’s slender hand gently brushed against a coarse, black metal serpent. She took a breath, her pink lips slightly pursed. "Thank you for holding back the enemies behind me."
With that, she leaped forward, accelerating into the depths of the cave. She rushed through a tunnel and arrived in a vast, towering grotto. The walls were guarded by many mechanical statues, and stone stalagmites were coiled with mechanical serpents. Water trickled down from various points on the ceiling and walls.
Yuyin walked into the grotto. The sound of flowing water was everywhere. At the far end of the grotto, a clear stream of water flowed down like a curtain. Yuyin walked over. Below the stream was a pool. Around the pool were several ancient statues of snake-bodied women, most of them holding various vessels for drawing water.
She looked around but found no other paths. This must be the end of this passage.
These statues were not mechanical guards; they seemed to be ordinary sculptures. But their upper halves, the bodies of women, were alluring and vividly lifelike, exquisitely beautiful. Yuyin looked back at the pool and noticed there seemed to be words within it.
They must be ancient Huaxia characters carved into the bottom of the pool. Water fell over them, and the ripples distorted the script, but it was still legible.
"Any daughter of whom I approve may enter my pool and receive a portion of my inheritance. If I do not approve, she will surely perish in the pool."
The tone was the same as the words on the previous wall. It must be Senior Rain Concubine.
At that moment, Yuyin heard the sounds of fighting and fluctuations of Primordial Energy from the cave behind her. The powerful ones were already chasing this way. Even if the enemy had split their forces, with half entering this right-side cave, she could not handle them all alone.
But this seemed to be a dead end. There was nowhere else to go.
"Enough of this. I’ll accept the inheritance first. I… should be able to, right?" Yuyin smoothed her dress, gently stroked her long hair, and swept it back over her shoulders.
"Senior Rain Concubine, please accept this bow from Yuyin." Yuyin closed her eyes and bowed devoutly. "If Yuyin is not to your liking, I still implore you to show me a path to life."
In the cave, the water trickled, but there was no response.
Yuyin’s chest rose and fell. She made up her mind, took off her shoes, revealing her small, pale feet, and stepped into the clear, cold water of the pool.
The water was extremely Yin-cold. An ordinary person might have had the chill seep into their bones, but Yuyin’s constitution was endlessly warm. Even this biting cold only felt cool to her.
Yuyin stood in the pool water, waiting, not knowing what would happen. Just then, the wide mountain spring feeding into the pool suddenly stopped.
For a moment, all was silent.
Drip, drip…
The stone basins, pots, and vessels held in the hands of the snake-bodied women statues began to drip with water.
Ding, ding, dong, dong… the sound was exceptionally pleasant.
Yuyin gradually felt that these waterdrops, like rain falling into the pool, seemed to carry a unique artistic conception.
She couldn’t explain it, couldn’t articulate it, but Yuyin could feel the profound mystery contained within. She was captivated, for a moment forgetting her predicament, sitting down in the pool to listen to the sound of the rain.
Suddenly, the pool water churned violently. Several transparent, clear serpents formed from the water’s flow rose from the pool. They coiled toward Yuyin.
Yuyin was greatly alarmed. She rose, trying to leap out of the pool. But the water serpents were too fast, moving with an undeniable power. In an instant, they passed through her waist, under her arms, between her breasts, and around her legs, binding and constricting her.
The strong force of the flowing water bound Yuyin tightly, lifting her into the air. It was not just a binding; the thick "ropes" were also flowing. The sensation was shocking and chaotic, making it difficult for her to even circulate her Primordial Energy.
"Stop, stop… what is this? Stop at once! Senior Rain Concubine, if this junior is not to your liking, then punish me, but please do not humiliate me…" Yuyin’s face was slightly flushed, her brow furrowed as she tried her best to maintain her ladylike decorum.
"Hm?" Wait, these constricting water serpents flowing around her body seemed to be resonating with each other, collectively hinting at some kind of law and mystery of the Way of Water?
For a moment, Yuyin gradually relaxed. She stopped struggling, allowing the water to coil around her body, instead trying to comprehend the principles within.
"The test is passed… You possess the aptitude to receive my inheritance. You are a fine woman who meets my approval. And furthermore…"
"Hee hee hee, in some ways, you are rather like I was back then. In receiving my inheritance, I do not need you to spread my fame. I only hope that you… do not end up like me…"
Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh…
It was clearly inside the grotto, yet it began to rain.
The water serpents began to transform, coalescing into a strange, ancient lotus pedestal. Yuyin sat cross-legged atop this semi-transparent, constantly flowing pedestal, which silently rose into the air. Streams from the pool danced up, weaving together in the air to form a transparent, crystal-clear, water-colored flower lantern that enveloped Yuyin. It was magnificent, as if she were a goddess of the water.
"Today I pass on to you a portion of the inheritance of Rain. You, feel it well."
The water-colored flower lantern shone with the hazy light radiating from the lotus beneath Yuyin. It shifted and changed, exceptionally brilliant.
Yuyin’s consciousness was still clear, her expression serene and ethereal. She began to accept the inheritance. A proud, bewitching, and arrogant will entered her mind. It was the enlightenment of Rain Concubine.
From the front, the sound of shattering stone echoed.
"Damn it, the Li Su are breaking in," Yuyin frowned. Though her eyes were closed, she could still sense the situation around her. "What do I do? My inheritance isn’t complete…"
"You need not worry. No one can forcibly obtain my inheritance, nor can they dream of stopping me from passing it on to a woman of my choosing," that proud and arrogant will transmitted into Yuyin’s mind.
And so, Yuyin did not move. Of course, even if she had wanted to, she could not have broken through the water-colored flower lantern.
At that moment, the many Li Su powerhouses from various sects had already fought their way into the grotto.
"Look! It’s that Xia woman!"
"She, what is she doing?"
Everyone saw Yuyin enveloped in the flower lantern formed from flowing water. Facing so many enemies, she just sat calmly on the lotus, her expression unchanged. They were all filled with doubt and apprehension.
"Could she really be the spirit of Rain Concubine?"
The Li Su powerhouses cautiously entered the grotto but did not dare to approach too closely.
"Stop scaring yourselves. Look, her clothes are soaked, her face is flushed, and her body exudes a vigorous feminine life force. How could she be a spirit?" a middle-aged cultivator with a brown robe and a bristly beard said.
"Damn it! This… this flower lantern formed from water contains a profound mystery of the Way of Water. Rain Concubine was skilled at manipulating rain. She… she is accepting the inheritance! This is Rain Concubine’s inheritance!" a Late-Stage of Void Truth Realm, white-haired, skinny cultivator cried out, pointing the large brush in his hand at Yuyin.
"That Xia woman, after causing us so many casualties, how dare she sit here so brazenly and accept the inheritance?"
"Truly shameless and utterly arrogant!"
"And with such a serene face, is she ignoring all of us Li Su powerhouses?"
The Li Su powerhouses were both furious and filled with hatred, but many of them, in their rage, still took the opportunity to feast their eyes on Yuyin’s beautiful, curvaceous body, her clothes soaked through. This only fueled their violent desires.
"Stop talking! If this continues, even if we catch this Xia woman, she’ll have finished accepting the inheritance!" the Late-Stage of Void Truth Realm Daoist yelled urgently.
"In your dreams!"
A burly Li Su barbarian at the Perfection-Stage of Purple Domain Realm raised a steel pitchfork and hurled it violently toward Yuyin.
Two Early-Stage of Void Truth Realm Daoists also summoned two flying swords. They were not ordinary, flying toward Yuyin at incredible speed.
"Let’s just interrupt her inheritance first!"
Bang! Bang!
The flying swords and steel pitchfork struck the lamp cover formed by the water curtain and were repelled, merely creating a few ripples.
The Li Su powerhouses were stunned. "That water lantern can actually repel attacks?"
"How is that possible? Is the Water inheritance protecting the Xia woman?"
The attacks from two Early-Stage of Void Truth Realm cultivators and one at the Perfection-Stage of Purple Domain Realm had no effect on Yuyin, who sat calmly on the water-colored lotus, accepting the inheritance. Yuyin herself remained focused, completely trusting in the lingering will of Rain Concubine and concentrating on receiving the inheritance of Rain.
Just then, from the rear of the cave, came the sound of countless heavy footsteps and the scraping of metal. A vast, combined aura of Primordial Energy surged forth.
"More enemies?" Yuyin couldn’t help but open her eyes to look toward the cave entrance.
Outside the water curtain, at the cave entrance, a large force of Li Su soldiers in bronze armor poured into the grotto.
"The army?" Yuyin was startled.
Smack! A water whip, neither too light nor too heavy, struck Yuyin’s thigh. "Continue accepting your inheritance. Do not be distracted."
"Mmm…"
From the military formation, an exceptionally burly general in golden armor stepped forward. "What is going on? What are you all doing?"
"General Mo!"
The Li Su powerhouses all saluted.
"Make way!" General Mo waved a large hand, and a powerful aura forced the Li Su powerhouses to part. He led several Li Su adjutants forward, looking at Yuyin, who was suspended in mid-air, protected by the water-colored light.
"So that is the Xia woman? Do not be afraid. For one so young to possess such abilities, she is indeed a Xia prodigy, but she is hardly the spirit of Rain Concubine returned," General Mo said, opening his large mouth.
"General Mo, this Xia woman is currently accepting the inheritance. The water lantern is protecting her!" a Li Su cultivator ran up to the giant, golden-armored general and said anxiously.
"Hmph." General Mo snorted, his large nose twitching. He raised a hand that was as large as an idol’s. "Archers, form up. Loose a volley and shoot her dead."
