Chapter 192 : Withering
Chapter 192 : Withering
192: Withering
With her back pressed against the hard stone wall, Yuyin thought to herself, "Although I don’t know why Senior Rain Concubine has taken a liking to me, I, Yuyin, thank you for it."
The tomb was filled with the auras of powerful beings, and battles were raging everywhere. Even if Yuyin occasionally revealed her aura, it wouldn’t be noticed. With so many different sects and tribes, it would be difficult to distinguish who was Li Su and who was Xia based on aura alone.
"More and more enemies are entering the tomb. How many are there?" Yuyin felt immense pressure. "It’s about time for me to leave this place. Although I can use these mechanical statues as cover to block the enemy, I am still only one person."
"Before I leave… I’ll do one more big thing."
Yuyin walked over to the bodies of a few barbarians who had been killed by the mechanical puppets. These barbarians were, on average, over two meters tall and far stronger than Earthlings. Even in death, their bronze bodies exuded a terrifying strength.
Yuyin’s gaze was cold. She opened her jade-like hand, releasing an absorbing wave without hesitation, drawing the essence of the weapons and treasures from the Li Su barbarians and cultivators.
She couldn’t take these treasures and weapons with her, and she couldn’t leave them for the enemy.
The ancient bronze swords and hammers held in the calloused hands of the powerful barbarians turned to scrap metal and ash.
Just then, an especially intense wave of battle came from ahead.
Yuyin turned, her white gauze dress swirling. She followed the fluctuations through a passage in the burial chamber. In a large chamber ahead, she saw the tallest statue, the one with the two curved blades, locked in fierce combat with several teams of Li Su powerhouses.
"Hmph, so they went and provoked it after all," Yuyin’s gaze turned cold as she hid behind the stone door of the chamber’s entrance.
"This thing, how is it so strong!" a white-bearded old man said, leading a few disciples as he joined other Li Su powerhouses in besieging the tall statue.
The tall statue was not a living being, making its strength hard to gauge. The flying swords and long spears of the many Li Su powerhouses landed on its body, leaving only faint marks. It was harder than imaginable.
The tall statue suddenly swept out with its long, bladed arms. A massive gust of black blade energy filled the dark chamber.
"Ah!" a one-armed young cultivator cried out as he was sent flying, spraying a large mist of blood. By the time he hit the ground, he had been cleaved in two.
"Bastard!" the white-haired old man roared in fury, striking the tall statue with his jade staff. The staff emitted powerful ripples, like the striking of a great bell, causing the very air in the chamber to tremble, along with the tall statue.
"This old man… and that one-armed youth who was killed, I think I’ve seen them somewhere before?" If she had seen them, it would have been near the Realm Gate six months ago. But the situation had been chaotic and urgent then, and Yuyin couldn’t recall clearly.
"Everyone, attacks using the Five Elements and Primordial Energy fluctuations are effective!" the white-haired old man immediately discovered. Although the tall statue was durable, its weakness lay in the soul flames burning at various points on its body.
"Shatter it!"
For a moment, all manner of curse talismans, spells, and Primordial Energy attacks flew toward the statue. The tall statue was continuously battered by explosions of light and flame, twitching in the smoke. At the same time, it retaliated powerfully. Cultivators and barbarians alike, struck by its twin blades, were either killed or crippled, especially the physically weaker cultivators, who could not withstand a single blow.
"Hey! What are you looking at, woman? Why aren’t you over here helping!" From a passage on the other side of the chamber, a few Li Su cultivators ran over. Their clothing was varied, making it hard to identify their sect. They had probably come through an inner passage from another chamber.
Yuyin didn’t speak. In the dark passage, they never would have expected to find a Xia person here, assuming she was one of their own from another sect.
Yuyin simply nodded. The few men rushed up to her, but then froze.
They all stared at Yuyin, which made her heart skip a beat. She tightened her grip on her sword, ready to strike at any moment.
But their eyes simply roamed over her face, chest, and legs. They hadn’t seen through her identity; they were just lecherous.
"What a beauty. What sect are you from? What are you doing here alone?"
"How about it, little brothers will take you to snatch some treasures?"
A few of the Li Su cultivators walked directly toward her.
"What are you doing? Get over here and help!" a Li Su powerhouse struggling in the chamber shouted. The spells and Five Elements attacks couldn’t stop, or the tall statue would retaliate even more fiercely.
"Come on, beauty, let’s go help!"
"Beauty, why aren’t you talking?"
They all stared at Yuyin, who had no choice but to rush into the chamber with them, joining the crowd of powerhouses besieging the tall statue.
In the chaos, Yuyin found herself standing next to the white-bearded old man. His strength was at the Mid-Stage of Void Truth Realm, one of the strongest among them. He was currently concentrating his Primordial Energy into his jade staff, firing a green beam of Five Elements energy at the tall statue. Under the constant assault of spells and Five Elements attacks, the statue’s sturdy body twitched, its joints twisting in unnatural directions.
Yuyin occasionally glanced at the old man beside her. He was completely focused, the green Five Elements light illuminating his face.
She remembered!
This man was the Void Truth Realm powerhouse from the Longevity Sect who had hunted her six months ago!
Yuyin’s heart pounded. She looked as if she was gathering the power of her sword to attack the statue, but her chest heaved deeply, trembling.
Suddenly, without warning, Yuyin delivered a powerful reverse slash with her sword. The blade carved a shimmering, silver arc in the darkness.
Thump!
The white-bearded old man’s arms were severed.
"Aargh!!" the white-bearded old man’s eyes bulged, his face contorted as he let out a hoarse, desperate roar.
All around, spells of every color and description flashed, and the statue continuously swept its blades in retaliation. For a moment, no one reacted.
It wasn’t until the old man’s two severed arms sprayed blood and he fell to his knees that anyone noticed.
"You, you…" the old man turned his face to Yuyin, his pupils shrinking. "You are…"
Yuyin’s sword flashed with silver light, piercing through his chest.
In his final moment, the old man remembered. The white-clad woman he had been ordered to lie in wait for outside the Xia Realm Gate in the Prison Abyss. The one he had almost captured, the one he had planned to violate first, then kill.
He seemed to also recall personally ordering his men to ignore the other Xia trash and concentrate their forces on hunting this Xia prodigy.
Thinking back now, it was the correct order. But perhaps, it was also a mistake.
"Sect Master… for my disciples…" The light of life faded from the old man’s eyes. He fell sideways to the ground.
Yuyin slowly picked up the green jade staff.
"What are you doing!?"
"Are you insane? You killed a Hall Master of the Longevity Sect!"
The other powerhouses were shocked. Some even stopped their spells attacking the statue.
Yuyin’s beautiful face glittered under the shifting light of the spells. She held the green jade staff in one hand. The Li Su powerhouses watched as the Mid-Grade Law-Tier artifact in her white, delicate hand turned to ash.
"You, who exactly are you!?"
