When Earth Awakened, I Became a Sword Saintess

Chapter 148 : Departure

Chapter 148 : Departure

148: Departure

The day for the trial in the Prison Abyss had finally arrived.

In the early hours of the morning, the sky was still a deep, dark blue and not yet light. The dormitory area by Yuehu Lake was exceptionally quiet.

Yuyin, Little Yuan, and Yingluo, however, had already risen early.

"Sister Yuyin, I'll help you take your things back to the apartment..." Little Yuan said, coming out of the bathroom holding some of Yuyin's belongings, but she froze.

Yuyin, dressed in a white feathered robe, her long hair cascading freely, was standing before the mirror, like a fairy sister who had wandered into a mortal girl's dormitory.

Yingluo was on the side, helping Yuyin adjust the garment.

"Sister Yuyin..." Little Yuan was suddenly struck with an impulse of regret for not going with Yuyin.

How could Yingluo not want to accompany Yuyin, but she had not yet broken through to become a Source Martial Practitioner, so she couldn't go at all.

Once everything was ready, the two saw Yuyin off to the assembly point at the south gate of the Lingdu Source Martial Academy.

The sky was not yet bright. The three of them walked on the tree-lined path of the campus, with Yuyin walking between them.

At the main gate, there were already some Source Martial Practitioner students waiting. At a glance, although Yuyin didn't know them personally, everyone had changed drastically. Every one of them, male or female, was wearing various styles of ancient-style clothing made from materials from the Prison Abyss.

It looked novel, but when one thought of where they were going today, probably no one could feel relaxed. The Prison Abyss; although the Source Martial Practitioner students here had a good understanding of it from books, none of them had ever actually seen it.

Yuyin, Little Yuan, and Yingluo stood at the school gate. The air was cool, and the sky was gradually beginning to brighten.

"It's about time. I need to go over there." Yuyin, carrying the silver Yue Maiden Longsword on her back, glanced at the growing crowd of Source Martial Practitioner students on the plaza outside the main gate and said.

"Sister Yuyin," Little Yuan's eyes flickered with reluctance and worry as she looked up at Yuyin, "You must..."

"Don't say it." Yuyin extended her long, slender fingers and quickly pressed them against Little Yuan's soft, moist lips. "When we part, don't say goodbye. How could I bear not to return as soon as possible?"

"Mmm..." The touch of Yuyin's fingers made Little Yuan a little excited. She wished she could really tug at the corner of Yuyin's clothes and go with her. But with a young girl's feelings or willfulness, Little Yuan was a sensible girl. She knew the bigger picture; it was just a momentary impulse.

"Yuyin." Yingluo gently rested her forehead on Yuyin's shoulder, taking a deep breath of Yuyin's scent. "Once you're there, you must be extremely careful."

"Mm, I will." Yuyin looked at Yingluo warmly.

"Little Yuan and I will be staying at your apartment during the summer break. I also want to break through to become a Source Martial Practitioner during the vacation, so I can be of more help to you all in the future." Yingluo smiled faintly, holding up the apartment key Yuyin had given her and giving it a little shake.

"Mm, please help me with anything at the apartment as well." Yuyin said. She had already instructed Yingluo about renewing the lease for the summer break, and had also transferred the rent and other expenses to Yingluo.

At this moment, a large group of Source Martial Practitioner students walked out from inside the main gate of the Lingdu Source Martial Academy. They were all from the Student Council.

Behind this group, Lan Lianyue, Hua Yuanjing, and Liu Xing also walked up the campus avenue.

Lan Lianyue was dressed in a Han and Tang dynasty-style ancient long dress, black with dark indigo patterns. She carried her silver Moon Blade on her back. The Moon Blade gave off a particularly sharp aura. This was not a training tool; it was a real Moon Blade, a Mid-Grade Law-Tier Artifact.

Owning a Mid-Grade Law-Tier weapon, one could imagine how wealthy Lan Lianyue was. In the entire Lingdu Source Martial Academy's credit exchange system, there wasn't a single Mid-Grade Law-Tier Artifact; the best available were Low-Grade Law-Tier Artifacts.

"Yuyin, we should go." Lianyue walked up to Yuyin and said to her.

"Mm, Senior Sister Lianyue." Yuyin nodded.

She looked at Yingluo and Little Yuan. It was impossible not to feel a pang of reluctance in her heart. Although it was only a separation of a little over a month, this separation was different. She was going to the Prison Abyss.

Yuyin seriously met the gazes of the two girls, then turned and, with Lan Lianyue and the others, walked toward the plaza outside.

"Sister Yuyin, again..." Little Yuan had just raised her hand, but Yingluo silently covered her mouth from behind. The two of them, one in front of the other, silently watched Yuyin's tall, graceful back as she departed.

The bus had already arrived. The driver, a man in his forties, was wearing a blue short-sleeved shirt in the driver's seat, holding a teacup with goji berries soaking in it. He watched with great interest this generation of Huaxia's most favored children.

Everyone had not yet boarded the bus and was waiting on the plaza below it.

"Look, Xia Yuyin is here."

"Wow..."

"Senior Sister Lianyue is here too."

"They're so beautiful..."

At this moment, Lan Lianyue didn't seem to particularly mind being ranked after Yuyin. When someone praised Yuyin, she even felt a little happy in her heart.

"Xia, Xia Yuyin." Just as Yuyin, Lianyue, and Hua Yuanjing, the three great beauties of the Lingdu Source Martial Academy, walked past, Wang Tieshu came running over, as if steam were rising from his head. He was wearing a coarse sackcloth outfit, had a powerful, burly build, a thick, studded belt around his waist, and a pair of solid copper bracers on his thick wrists. On his back, he carried a pair of black iron axes from the Prison Abyss.

Although Yuyin herself was also in an ancient-style costume, she still found it a bit hard to get used to seeing Wang Tieshu like this, but she didn't show it.

"What is it, Senior Wang Tieshu?" Yuyin asked lightly.

"N-nothing. We're about to leave, right? Ah? You... Xia Yuyin, you look so beautiful in that outfit. Like, like... a fairy, hehe..." Wang Tieshu looked at Yuyin, completely entranced. But his gaze, besides admiration, always kept sweeping over Yuyin's chest.

After all, in this fairy-like outfit of Yuyin's, the neckline was not very high.

"Wang Tieshu, if you have nothing to do, go wait over there with your Strongman Department." Before Yuyin could speak, Lianyue said coldly.

"Ah, good morning, Senior Sister Lianyue..." A cold sweat broke out on Wang Tieshu's burning head.

"Go on." Lianyue's voice was slender and gentle, but it carried a sense of authority.

"Yes, yes, Senior Sister Lianyue." Wang Tieshu lowered his head honestly and walked away, not daring to show even a hint of temper.

"Liu Xing, marry me!" A tall, small-eyed male student from the Long Weapon Department shouted toward Liu Xing among the group from the Student Council.

Liu Xing gave him a cold glare and didn't answer at all.

Every single person, dressed in ancient-style clothing, gave off a very different impression. Everyone's eyes were darting around, looking at each other and commenting.

Over in the Strongman Department area, most of them were bare-chested, with thick waists and broad backs, revealing strong muscles and fat... Jiang Da was the most extreme among them. Between two thick, black belts, there was a bronze beast's head, and he was carrying two large hammers.

"I have a question that I've been a bit confused about." Yuyin looked at everyone and said in a low voice.

"What is it?" Hua Yuanjing asked. Today, Hua Yuanjing was wearing a dark red, high-slit, long dress with a cinched waist.

"Why do we have to wear ancient-style clothing? Can't we make modern-style clothes with materials from the Prison Abyss?" Yuyin asked.

"Well..." Hua Yuanjing narrowed her eyes for a moment. To be honest, she also felt everything was logical, but she had never delved into this question.

"It's said that if you wear modern clothing into the Prison Abyss, you are easily seen as an outsider and will provoke the hatred of the Demon Spirits." Lianyue said from the side, with her arms crossed.
