Chapter 141 : Rain and Pity
Chapter 141 : Rain and Pity
141: Rain and Pity
Under the cold, all-encompassing rain, Yuyin's body brought a warmth, deep as the sea, to Lianyue's slender, delicate, and icy back.
But that warmth could hardly melt her heart.
"Xia Yuyin, are you pitying me? Why would a simple girl like you learn to be so hypocritical? Let go of me. Even though you're here now, I have no commands to give you. We have no one left to follow. My world has been destroyed along with my brother. As for the future of this world, I don't care." Although Lianyue's trembling had lessened somewhat, her eyes remained dim and lightless.
Yuyin, however, hugged Lianyue even tighter, her chin resting on Lianyue's shoulder. "I'm not pitying you. I just can't bear to see you in such pain."
Yuyin pressed her chest closer, closer against Lianyue's back, wanting to bridge the distance between their two hearts.
"Because seeing you like this, Senior Lian, makes my heart ache too. I can't bear to watch you cry and wail alone in the rain while I do nothing!" Yuyin said firmly.
Lan Lingfeng, although Yuyin had always respected him greatly, she had never even met him, let alone had any real feelings for him.
But when she thought of those things from the Prison Abyss killing someone whom a strong, proud Senior Lian had regarded as an unreserved reliance, the most important person in her life to worship and trust, someone like that, killed without even a complete body left behind.
Seeing Senior Lian's heartbreaking, soul-tearing cries, her fall into darkness and despair, Yuyin felt a surge of anger from the depths of her being.
Senior Lian's pain was something she felt as her own. She could not stand by and coldly watch such a Senior Lian. She couldn't do it.
Even though this matter had no direct relation to Yuyin's own plan to protect herself.
"Should I... be comforted that you care about me? Should I? Xia Yuyin? Who do you think you are? They... they killed my brother. They killed him! What can you do? Even the two Deans were injured and could do nothing. What can you do!??"
Lianyue screamed hoarsely, turning around and forcefully pushing Yuyin away. She felt a wave of dizziness and fell down along with Yuyin.
Splash.
The two girls fell to the rainy ground together.
When Lianyue came to her senses, she found herself lying on top of Yuyin. Their bodies pressed against each other in the rain and mud. Their long, completely soaked hair scattered and tangled together.
"What can you do? A man as invincible as my brother was killed by them. What can you do? What can we do!?? Wuu wuu wuu..."
Lianyue's small hands clutched Yuyin's clothes tightly, burying her face in Yuyin's body, crying helplessly...
Yuyin lay on the ground, looking up at the gray sky. Countless raindrops hit her face. She said nothing, just letting Lianyue lie on top of her, crying and venting. The hands that had pushed her away three times were now tightly hugging her.
She wasn't looking for support. Perhaps, more than anything, she wanted someone to truly share this grief with her. Whether she was still rational or not, deep in her heart, she had chosen Yuyin, chosen to cry in Yuyin's arms.
Yuyin's chest rose and fell under a pressure that was not heavy, yet was immeasurably heavy. She also reached out and hugged Senior Lian.
Senior Lian, if no one is leading us, then we will walk forward on our own. Yuyin gazed at the firmament, saying this to herself in her heart. At this moment, she could even feel the collision of her and Senior Lian's heartbeats.
The rain all over the sky was like Lianyue's tears.

It was already past four in the afternoon when Yuyin and Lan Lianyue returned to the villa by the lake. The rain was still falling, and the sky was gray.
Both of them had showered in the Student Council's annex.
"I might not have any underwear in your size. You can wear my pajamas for now," Lan Lianyue said as she combed her hair.
"Okay..." Yuyin, wrapped in a towel, sat on the large bed in Lan Lianyue's bedroom. Her long, freshly washed hair, still smelling of shampoo, was draped over her shoulders.
The Senior's bedroom was indeed large, almost like a princess's chamber in an ancient castle, with a faint scent of lavender.
When Yuyin came out of the dressing room in the black pajamas, they were a bit short, and the chest was tight, with two buttons that couldn't be fastened, making them look somewhat like improper pajamas.
Seeing Yuyin wearing her gothic-style pajamas with a vibe reminiscent of Notre Dame Cathedral, Lianyue felt a mix of emotions.
"Your clothes probably won't dry today. There are plenty of rooms here. Do you plan to stay the night, or what?" Lianyue asked.
"No need. I'll just have Little Yuan bring some clothes over for me," Yuyin said.
Lianyue nodded. She looked at Yuyin, her gaze very different from before, but she was unwilling to admit how much her attitude towards her had changed. But one thing was certain: her grief, after this venting, had indeed subsided somewhat. For some reason, being next to Xia Yuyin, a woman brimming with the vitality of life, that feeling of despair was gradually being dispelled.
Lianyue, wearing a purple, gothic-lolita style pajama set, walked to the window, her back to Yuyin.
"This summer break, I'm going to the Prison Abyss," Lianyue said, gazing at the vast, rainy lake.
"Senior Lian..." Yuyin was a little worried.
"You don't have to worry. I'm not thinking of avenging my brother right now. If I did that, it would only bring more pain to my brother's spirit in heaven..." Lan Lianyue's gaze gradually grew dark. "What I need to do is to take revenge, to make those enemies who killed my brother pay a hundred, a thousand times the price. Not to throw my life away."
Lan Lianyue turned around, walked to Yuyin's side, looked up at her, and a hint of brightness actually appeared in her originally dark eyes. "You're right. If no one is leading us, we must continue to move forward. With my brother gone... I need to become wiser. I won't do anything foolish that would cause pain to my loved ones and delight my enemies."
"Absolutely... not!" Lan Lianyue lowered her head, her small hand unconsciously grabbing Yuyin's sleeve, squeezing so hard her knuckles turned white. A deep darkness flickered in her eyes.
"Senior Lian..." Yuyin could feel the bone-deep hatred that Senior Lian was suppressing in her heart. This hatred, pushed to its extreme, could actually make her abandon grief and anger, becoming rational for the sake of revenge.
This rationality, crushed by such darkness, made Yuyin's heart ache.
After a moment, Lan Lianyue calmed her emotions. Her body stopped trembling. Only then did she realize her hand was still clutching Yuyin's sleeve, and she calmly and gently released it.
"Xia Yuyin, both Jing and I are going down to the Prison Abyss. Before that, I plan to apply to the Academy to give you the position of Student Council President. You won't refuse this time, will you?" she said, looking up at Yuyin. "Don't worry, I won't try to control you anymore. It will truly be your Student Council. You have the ability and the capacity for it, don't you?"
As she spoke, Lianyue's gaze shifted down slightly, level with Yuyin's chest.
"I'm sorry, Senior Lian, but I have to refuse you again," Yuyin said calmly.
"Huh? Why?" Lianyue asked, looking into Yuyin's eyes, confused.
"Because, I'm also going down to the Prison Abyss," Yuyin said, her gaze clear and firm.
