What Do You Mean I Have To Comprehend Dao As A Mortal God?

Chapter 108: Bunny Construction Company?

Chapter 108: Bunny Construction Company?

Right... Remember I said that they would be halfway done in another day?

Turns out I was completely mistaken because I failed to factor in the fact that they had also fabricated automated builders that helped the bunny girls build the tower alongside them...

So when I woke up the next morning, I found the bunny girls all jumping around and celebrating as I looked up at the tower that had been completed in two and a half days.

Olivia had also returned and it seems like she was just as impressed as I was, the red Oni looking up at the building with an impressed look on her face.

"This is quite something..." Olivia muttered.

"I would say that’s an understatement... They managed to finish this in two days... Can anyone even do that?"

"Unless magic and powers are heavily involved, I do not think so. I wonder if we were to reveal their existence... Maybe we can even start a construction company with them?"

Damn... Was she really intending to exploit them for money?

I don’t know if I should be concerned about her being able to think like that...

Amongst the crowd, Maylene and Sagia appeared, both of them looking especially proud of themselves which I supposed was quite deserved considering the fact that this was their first time building something vertically after having only just started learning it.

I would say to finish this tower is equivalent to completing a world wonder to them since it’s the first building project where they attempted to construct something so high up into the sky.

"Qi... Mortal God! Mortal God! We did it! We did it!" Maylene cheered, looking especially happy while she hopped up and down in front of me.

Sagia was also doing the same thing, proving that the bunny girls would really hop up and down when they were excited about something, "It’s all thanks to your help, Mortal God!"

I pointed at myself, "Me? I believe your people deserve all the credit for completing this monumental project. I don’t think I had a hand in this at all."

The rest of the bunny sisters also hopped over, all of them also joining the hopping ’party’ in front of me.

"That’s not true, Mortal God! You helped us a lot!" Netty laughed merrily.

The usually composed Vittaria was also hopping up and down, "Without your help, we would not even be here, Mortal God. It is definitely thanks to you."

Inies also agreed, "That’s right, Mortal God! We attribute this success to you!"

I guess to an outsider, they would think that they were talking about me allowing them to stay on this island and also clearing out the rift as a Mortal God.

But those who know would realise that they were talking about the fact that I helped them migrate from their world over to ours as well.

I decided it was better to just accept their thanks and nodded at them, "It is my pleasure. But this is something that you should also be proud of as you would not have been able to do this if you had not set your mind on it. Well done."

To be honest here... You can’t expect me not to do this after I see all these short stack bunny girls hopping up and down so enthusiastically...

Which is why you can’t blame me when I went ahead to stretch out my hand to start patting Sagia and Maylene on their heads between their bunny ears.

The both of them immediately stopped hopping and seemed to be completely surprised by the action as they looked up at me with wide eyes.

I froze, thinking I did something wrong as I slowly took back my hands, only to hear Maylene whisper under her breath almost inaudibly.

"Wait... No... Don’t stop..."

Hearing that, I reached out my hand again and continued patting them, their surprised looks turning into an especially blissful face as I patted them.

The other three sisters had also stopped hopping and were giving me a rather pleading look so I guess they wanted the same thing.

In the end, I patted all of the bunny sisters and they had a look of satisfaction on their faces when I was done.

Good thing the rest of their brethren were still looking at the building instead of behind at us or I feel I might be stuck patting all of them as well...

The entire time, Olivia had been standing beside me and watching without a word, patiently waiting for me to be done before she finally spoke up.

"So is the building ready for operation yet?"

The five bunny girls quickly recovered and shook their heads together.

"The interior isn’t completed yet. While we already set aside the allocated space for the facilities, we have not moved in the machines and all the other furniture that would complete the building yet, Miss Olivia. We were actually hoping to consult with you on that one but since you weren’t here yesterday..."

Right, she was gone the entire day apparently to deal with another wave of applicants that were seeking to work under me.

It was not just the new Guardians but also the new staff that would be moving to this island as well.

She’s handling so many things that I actually feel bad for her and suggested that she allocate some of the work to others or even get herself an assistant to lighten her workload.

While she was receptive to the assistant idea, she seemed to be quite against the other idea of giving away some of her responsibilities for some reason.

I decided that she knew her own work the best so I didn’t try to force her either.

Olivia nodded at the bunny girls, "I understand, in that case, once everyone is done celebrating, we can get to work on filling up the tower, can we?"

Maylene hopped up and down again, "Yeah!! We should be able to finish this by tomorrow!! Then we would officially have completed this construction project!!"

"No worries, we are already ahead of schedule so you can take it easy for today. I have something else to discuss with my Lord as well."

The girls got the hint and went to rejoin the other bunny girls, all of them seemingly planning to throw a party tonight to celebrate.

They were still using their own resources that they had brought over from their colony so they were free to do whatever they want with it.

After this, we would need to construct facilities and work on making this island as self-sustaining as possible which was part of our plan from the start.

Olivia then led me away from the island and we started walking back towards the chalet with just the two of us.

"So how are things on your side? You seem really busy after we conquered the rift," I asked.

"It is nothing, my Lord. I was way more busy when I was made director of the MAM back then."

"That doesn’t make it any better. It’s not good for one person to take on so many responsibilities at once, you know?"

"You need not worry, my Lord," She assured me with a confident expression. "I am aware of my own limits and if there is something that needs to be delegated, I will delegate it."

"As long as you are aware... So what’s the news?"

"Our government is doing their best to support us in setting up our new base of operations by advertising us as new work opportunities to the other worlder communities within the country."

"Are they aware of our plan to be self-sustaining?"

"They are, my Lord. There are a few people within the government who oppose such a notion but they obviously can’t speak out against it since this is your will. While they would not openly oppose it, there have been some instances where things were intentionally made difficult for us like delaying or outright denying shipments of materials over to this island as well as concerns raised over our erosion of the local environment by settling here."

"Would that be a problem for us?"

"No, my Lord. Most of the parliament actually supports that idea as long as you maintain a link between the island and the mainland. Which is easy for us to do as the link already exists in the form of acting as their supply for Mana Crystals which we would mine from the rifts we conquer. While we would have to support the staff that would be working under us ourselves, I convinced them to subsidise the salaries of the staff for the first two years of our project and provide us with grants to start with our development of the island. That way, we can save on only making use of the resources that we mined from the rift at a later date instead."

Damn Olivia... You really sure you aren’t a shark or something? You really fleeced them as much as you could huh?

Remind me not to piss you off...
