Chapter 95 -Job

Back at the Rodger Mansion ( Present) -

Mercy hurled herself at Elizabeth, her hands striking out in wild, desperate fury. "How dare you frame Percy!" she screamed, her voice breaking. "How could you accuse him of such horrible things?" She was jumping and shrieking.

Elizabeth stood firm absolutely unshaken. "Mercy, stop! Listen to me!" she pleaded, trying to grasp Mercy's flailing hands.There was a hint of sadness somewhere in her tone.

Jake and Phill moved quickly to restrain their sister, pulling her back as she continued to thrash and scream. "You’re lying! You’re trying to tear our family apart!" Mercy sobbed as she pounded around."Mercy, please," Elizabeth's voice was softer but she held her daughter with her gaze. "I wish it weren't true, but it is.I wish I was lying.I wish I was wrong. Percy is behind all of this.I know this shreds your heart but it is what it is."

It took a long time for Mercy's resistance to wane. She continued to struggle, her energy slowly draining until she collapsed into Jake's arms, sobbing uncontrollably. "No, no, no," she whispered, shaking her head as the reality of Elizabeth's words began to sink in.Phill knelt beside her, his own eyes wet with unshed tears. "Mercy, we need to listen to her. We need to know the truth." Mercy's anguished cries echoed through the room as she struggled against Jake and Phill's grip.

"How could he? How could Percy do this?" she screamed, tears streaming down her face. Jake and Phill held her tightly, their own faces pale with shock and confusion.Elizabeth took a deep breath, her voice steady but filled with a deep sadness. "I learned about Percy's rogue ways long ago, but I didn't want to believe it. I let it slide, hoping he would change and it was only because of what he had learnt about his birth. I thought it was just a phase. But he didn't. He only grew more twisted and vengeful."

"Anna," she continued, her voice breaking slightly. "Anna was Rosa's cousin. Percy placed her in Lea's house as a nanny to keep tabs on her. He orchestrated everything.It was a well versed plan. " She paused as she motioned towards one of the detectives." Please carry on. " She said, finally sitting down, a hand over her chest.

"And when Anna found out too much,or became a liability he silenced her.We have our doubts that Anna might actually have been innocent and was used by the two. She seemed genuinely worried about the kid and felt sorry for her involvement.She must have been too scared to admit her role but she did end up giving us some useful tips and helped with our investigation,before she died."

The room fell silent as the weight of what the directive was saying,sunk in. The realization hit them like a tidal wave...Percy, their brother, had been behind everything. The betrayal cut deep.

Elizabeth's eyes filled with tears as she looked at her children. "Anna didn't commit suicide. Percy made sure of that. He pushed her from the roof, silencing her forever. All to protect his twisted plans."

" Thank you Miss. Rodgers for this vital piece of information. " The police officer stepped forward. " We will be immediately mobilising our teams. "

" I am coming with you! " Jake immediately stood up. " Me too! " Phill walked towards the door as well. " Be careful! " Elizabeth murmured from behind, " He is dangerous at the moment. Do not treat him as the brother you once knew when you meet him. He isn't the same person anymore. "

They turned back at the sound of a chair falling. Mercy was standing as well. Her eyes were red but they were dry. " I am coming as well. I need to see how dangerous he has become first hand. He needs to answer me first before he gets to answer any cops or officers. " She shoved past all of them towards her car.

Without wasting anymore time they rushed after her. " I will go with her. You go with the cops. Keep me informed. " Phill told Jake as they split and sprinted towards their parking space.

" Percy's phone is switched off. He is possibly using another phone... " The officer was in the middle of explaining as they drove when Jake's phone beeped with a text.

" Jake it's me. Don't call back. I am being tracked. I will be calling you. Track my phone while I call you and do just as I say. "

Jake's adrenaline shot up as he showed the officer the text." We got this! " The officer gave him a thumbs up. Within a minute his phone rang but he was ready.

" Hello Jake! "

" Damn it! Lea! Lea where are you? Where is your phone? I have been worried sick. Lea, can you hear me? " His voice was frenzied at the other end. The officer quickly pressed his wrists, instructing him to calm down. He asked him to keep talking with her as the headquarters tried to track Lea's location.

Lea asked for his shares in the electronic form like Rosa had instructed. The officer asked Jake to buy some more time in the pretence of doing it. Jake did exactly the same while he kept her on hold and transferred one share, just to make it look like he was actually doing the job.
