"She's on her way. She’ll be here any minute," Jake lied, his voice trembling at the sight of their aunt growing weaker and frail by the minute.

Their aunt's eyes searched his face, filled with a urgency. "Jake, I don’t have much time left. There’s something...something Lea needs to know. It’s really important."

Jake swallows hard, nodding. "What is it? I’ll make sure she knows."

"No, Jake, I gotta tell her myself. It’s about her father...about everything. She needs to know the truth before...before I go. It's the only way she won't hate me after I am gone." She struggled to catch her breath, the effort evident in her weakening voice.

"Hey, hey, take it easy. You’re gonna be fine," Jake said, his heart pounding. "Just hang in there a little longer."She shook her head, tears welling in her eyes. "I’ve been holding on for too long, Jake. Promise me, if I don’t make it...you’ll tell Lea the truth even though that's not what I want. "
