Chapter 133 - 132: Business Partnership

Chapter 133 - 132: Business Partnership

Recently, Walter Vis noticed a change in the way people looked at him, and he could sense it deeply.

Not only family members, but also people from the company and business contacts... Ever since he took the reins of the business again, the company’s performance has skyrocketed. The family members looked at him with awe and admiration, while outsiders reacted with flattery and envy.

Some old clients even directly asked if he had some insider connections and whether he could share them.

In fact, they guessed correctly.

This insider... is the Dimensional Limit Mechanism.

Seeing new email records in his private inbox and the ID completely replaced by "*", he knew they had new instructions.

Sure enough, just like the earlier ones, the content was packed with high-value information.

"On November 25th, Asda Electronics will declare bankruptcy due to poor management and chronic losses. Prepare early and negotiate acquisition terms with their bankruptcy manager. From November 6th to 15th, short the following stocks: LD Machinery, East America Industries, New World Manufacturing... Details are in the appendix file."

Every word was a prophetic business secret. Any company with a decent cash flow and complete trust in the mechanism could quickly multiply their wealth.

Walter extracted the main content and sent it to his younger son, Longlan Vis— since the eldest was gone, naturally, others would take his place. So far, although Longlan wasn’t as smart as Gio, he was very loyal to Walter and carefully completed every task given to him.

After finishing this, he lit a cigar, leaned back on the bench, and sighed with a touch of melancholy.

It was already December, and cooperation with the Dimensional Limit Mechanism had been about four months, during which the family had reaped significant benefits, poised to reach new heights.

The last time Walter Company was this fortunate was during the Desert Storm operation. There seemed to be an endless flow of orders from the East Coast, allowing every company in the trade to feast.

Yet Walter felt uneasy at this moment.

The Dimensional Limit Mechanism wasn’t an easy partner. For all the advantages they bestowed, they surely had intentions. But could his little arms enterprise meet the mechanism’s demands?

The company had indeed made a lot of money but only in financial sectors. There was virtually no growth on the industrial side. In other words, if they couldn’t satisfy the mechanism’s demands, they’d be quickly discarded, with no leverage for negotiation.

This was a situation he didn’t want to see.

But the question was, in which area did the company need to strengthen its business to maximize its utility? Continue investing in light weapons? Those had little technical content, and the mechanism periodically only bought munitions without increasing gun demand.

Heavy weapons then?

That sector was heavily asset-dependent, and if the production line setup estimated wrong, the losses would be immense.

All this was because the mechanism’s behavior was so unique. Sure, it’s necessary to set the stage before fishing, but who dumps an entire packet of bait into a pond?

After much consideration, Walter decided to proactively send an email to the other party.

"I understand. Is there anything else I can help you with? Be it weapons or aircraft, the company is at your service. Additionally, the company hopes to expand production to the next level. Does the mechanism have any recommendations?"

With the last sentence, he was basically probing their intent.

Surprisingly, a reply came instantly.

"The bullet delivery date is in five days; we will meet in person."

An in-person meeting!

This was the first time he would be meeting members of the mechanism offline!

Walter was instantly energized and immediately summoned his butler, "George! What’s the name of the hotel closest to the park?"

The old butler thought for a while, "It should be called Bagreen Hotel."

"Find out who owns it and buy it."

George hesitated, "Are you sure you want to buy it, sir? It’s in a remote location, with no nearby attractions or commercial areas..."

"Just go do it; I have my reasons." Walter was resolute.

Five days passed quickly.

As usual, the old bungalows turned into an unusual trading post. Boxes of ammunition were carted inside, and who knew where they’d be shipped next. However, this time, Walter didn’t observe from the hotel’s top floor but stood right at the front door of this inconspicuous residential house.

After a moment, a young girl walked out from inside.

Walter was immediately struck—brightened, in the truest sense. Unlike the plainly dressed laborers, she was the exact opposite—her hair was blue with shades of pink, dyed in vibrant colors, glimmering under the sunlight. Her eyebrows were long, and her exaggerated eyeshadow extended beyond the corners of her eyes. Her ears and fingers were adorned with numerous ornaments, as if ensuring every accessory was fully utilized.

If seen dressed like this in some back alley, Walter would have scoffed; they had nothing, hence dressing ridiculously to stand out. But she was different... She was privy to many corporate secrets, with a flick of her finger able to bring billions in wealth.

So her choice of attire reflected her own style, not the aimless rebellion of street punks.

"I am Walter. You must be a member of the mechanism, correct?" Despite her youth, Walter dared not underestimate her, for she possessed unbelievable abilities. He stepped forward, offering a handshake, "How may I address you?"

"Just call me Lin." She shook his hand, with a tone that wasn’t malicious but also not particularly warm.

No malice was good enough. Walter then said, "Miss Lin, I’ve arranged for a suitable meeting place not far from here. Would you be willing to honor us with your presence?"

Lin Qing glanced back at the branch office, "Alright... but I’ll need to return here in an hour."

"No problem, please get in the car." He gestured to a ready limousine beside them.

...

Outside Bagreen Hotel, a red carpet was laid out, and inside the lobby stood two rows of welcoming staff, respectfully.

Lin Qing frowned slightly as she walked in, "I thought you would value privacy more."

Her English was fluent, devoid of any regional accent.

Walter chuckled, "Even if I don’t mind my own privacy, I wouldn’t overlook a business partner’s privacy needs. Rest assured, Miss Lin, all cameras have been disabled, and there are no outsiders in the hotel. In fact, Walter Company has already purchased it. It may take some time to complete the commercial process, but the intent contract is already in place."

"You bought this place?" Lin Qing responded surprisedly.

"Yes. Though that bungalow is unremarkable, it’s in public view, surrounded by a park, making frequent access noticeable," Walter explained. "Once this process is complete, I’ll transfer it to the mechanism, allowing you to directly use this hotel for logistics."

The branch office merely needed a hundred-square-meter house; a whole hotel seemed wasteful.

But Lin Qing saw it for what it was—Walter offering a benefit to the mechanism, acknowledging the value of their information. "Certainly better than in a public setting, it’s considerate of you."

"A trivial matter." Walter felt relieved as she didn’t refuse.

He led Lin Qing to a luxurious suite on the hotel’s 30th floor, with various fine wines and delicacies already on the table... Though a private discussion, it might as well have been a small party, albeit with only two participants.

Lin Qing glanced around and couldn’t help but chuckle softly, "Mr. Walter, you surely go to lengths for hospitality."

"As I should." Walter personally poured a drink for his client, "I assumed the gentleman who introduced me to the mechanism would join us, so I prepared extra food."

Lin Qing, understanding he meant Chen Xuan, casually replied, "He only deals with overarching affairs; I handle the specifics. Just remember that."

In fact, she hadn’t notified Chen Xuan about this.

Since returning from Chang’an City, Chen Xuan had been in a peculiar state, often spacing out. Liu Shuyue seldom came to the shop anymore; the last time Lin saw her was a week ago. She suspected a quarrel between them, but their answers were uniformly negative when she subtly probed.

So she could only push the plan alone for now.

"No issue, as long as either of you can represent the mechanism, right?" Walter asked casually.

Lin Qing heard the subtext—opposite possessed the Voice of Trust ability; lying with ulterior motives might reveal malice. Luckily, she genuinely was part of the mechanism, answering confidently, "Exactly, we both can represent the mechanism, and we’re a particularly unique branch within it."

"What branch?" Walter asked curiously.

"We handle next-gen technology and neural equipment development, with a top-secret classification." Lin Qing replied earnestly, "Even to the Dimensional Limit Mechanism itself, our existence isn’t widely known."
