Chapter 202
Chapter 202
[Idle Slot 4: Prajna Paramita Heart Sutra (No Rank/Mind Power/Karma Dissolution)]
"Prajna Heart Sutra (0/100): 48 recitations per day, 300 years to master."
This is a typical Buddhist Heart Sutra, and it is very special. It can not only train Heart Power, it can also clear karma.
The concept of karma was something Wang Yu saw for the first time in this world, and the benefits of clearing karma are many.
Increasing blessings, developing wisdom, avoiding illness and disaster, purifying the six senses, and so on. These ideas all came from Wang Yu's previous life understanding of Buddhism.
One of the Dharma protectors of the Buddhist school is among the eight classes of heavenly dragons, and there even exists an Asura King, yet the Asura Slaughter Sacred Scripture is taught by the ancient demon "Slaughter".
One Buddhist and one Demon, they seem to have no direct connection.
But there is indeed some relation, and besides, a Heart Sutra with no grade requiring three hundred years to complete is unusual. Does this mean it lacks Buddha-nature, or is this Heart Sutra special?
Wang Yu could not tell for now.
In any case, it indeed originally belonged to the many inheritances of the Asura Scripture, and Wang Yu strongly suspected that the original copy Jin Miaoshan obtained did not include this.It might not even be present in the Lesser Asura Killing Fist.
These inheritances are clearly later creations of the Venerable Asura.
Wang Yu formed this conjecture.
Perhaps the ancient demon "Slaughter" passed down an original version, and sword cultivators of the ancient immortal court discovered flaws in this demonic technique and then used the court's power to improve it.
Incorporating the Spirit Refinement path, Buddhist Heart Sutra, and so on were all experiments. This explanation made sense.
The Jingzhao Demon Suppression Prison is also solid proof of the immortal court's support for this Venerable Asura, showing that in ancient times the Buddhist school was probably still flourishing.
Perhaps they perished together with the immortal court, it is possible.
This disaster left no historical record and vanished abruptly. Only after ten thousand years did the more familiar Ancient Era begin.
The Buddhist inheritances were essentially extinct, with no practitioners remaining. Most people in the cultivation world did not even know the Buddhist school. The Foundation Establishment spiritual item Wang Yu once obtained, the Vajra Liquid, was a product of Buddhist power.
Thinking of this, Wang Yu gave a soft hum.
"I, a mere demonic cultivator, cultivating a Buddhist Heart Sutra. Humorous, yet strangely normal."
He waited in place for half an hour.
When the Idle Slot gave its first feedback on the Prajna Heart Sutra, he unusually felt nothing, except that his mind was somewhat calmer, with not the slightest fluctuation.
"This is a big project."
While pondering, Wang Yu continued deeper into the southern passage. He always felt there might be more surprises ahead.
Considering that Jin Miaoshan had hurriedly needed the Ancient Soul Art previously, it was almost certain that she had obtained the original version, the Asura Slaughter Sacred Scripture.
The Prajna Heart Sutra would be even more valuable to Jin Miaoshan.
As for why this situation occurred, Wang Yu did not believe the Venerable Asura would tamper with such matters, and the stone-bound book in his arms was clearly the carrier that recorded the inheritance.
It made no sense that he had an apparent manifestation while Jin Miaoshan only had the original version. This stone-bound book should have been empty, with all contents taken.
Some external force must have interfered.
Could it be the work of a Rakshasa?
Reaching the end of the passage smoothly, Wang Yu's eyes brightened. What appeared before him should be a secluded cultivation site, and the surrounding walls were covered with sword scars.
In the center stood a stone platform.
Four dragon pillars rose at the corners, each dragon mouth holding a thick iron ring. This looked like a means of restraining someone gone mad.
There were also traces of array patterns around the stone platform, but the age was too great and Wang Yu's knowledge of formation techniques was not deep. He could only barely recognize one pattern that represented "Demon Suppression".
"Even the Venerable Asura was troubled by murderous intent. What a terrifying power."
Wang Yu murmured. Because he bore shackles and manacles, he could only attempt to touch the sword scars on the wall with his forehead.
In this way he could use the profundity of his divine sense to deeply perceive the intent contained within the sword scars.
This is a manifestation of Heart Power. The traces left by their owners serve as training and guidance for later Heart Power practitioners.
Wang Yu cultivated the Lesser Asura Killing Fist, and by this he could comprehend the complete meaning of the "Asura Killing Intent", which was equivalent to taking a dose of a specialty experience pill.
As the comprehension rose rapidly, a tangible red mist completely exuded from his body. The amount was small, only about the size of a palm, even less than the portion in the passage.
This was to prevent being infected by the murderous intent.
He was actually in a state of full resistance, using an outer shell to temper himself while learning from a distance the experience of burning oneself.
This residue fully activated his own "Asura Killing Heart". These materialized murderous intents all came from his past.
The simplest way to quantify them is this.
That is, how many lives were taken.
The more one kills, the stronger the killing intent becomes. The Asura Killing Heart will spontaneously grow, perfectly matching the impatient and reckless nature of demonic arts. The danger in this process lies in losing oneself.
Wang Yu had more or less understood the principle behind it.
After a long time, he emerged from his comprehension and opened his eyes with a faint sigh.
“I’ve killed quite a number of people before, yet my killing intent is still so weak... It can’t even cover my whole body. Just how many living beings did that Venerable Asura slaughter? Even a Spirit Transformation cultivator couldn’t maintain his sense of self?”
With a deep sense of awe toward such power, Wang Yu felt that his purpose for this trip had been fulfilled. Originally, his plan to explore the Jingzhao Town Evil-Suppressing Prison was meant for next time.
Now, everything was accomplished, which was rather good.
Next time he returned, he estimated he would have to capture the Six-Eyed Corpse Infant alive. That thing was a supreme-grade corpse-refining material. He wondered how long it could continue to act so arrogantly.
After searching the secluded chamber for a while and finding no treasures, Wang Yu leaned against the wall in slight disappointment.
A cracking sound echoed.
A sudden fissure appeared, and his eyes lit up. He immediately sprang into action.
Demolition Expert Wang Yu, Activated.
These stones were not ordinary materials to begin with, but after countless years, repeated battles, and the loss of their restriction patterns, they had completely become ordinary rocks.
Wang Yu possessed immense strength. With a flick of his fingers, he could pry up a massive stone slab. Considering the difficulty of reassembling it later, he tried to keep the edges as neat as possible.
He intended to take the entire cultivation chamber away. In the future, when he practiced the Lesser Asura Killing Fist, he could use the sword marks left here for reference. It might even accelerate his progress beyond using Idle Slots.
As for the Prajna Heart Sutra, Wang Yu had no place to set it for now. It took too much time to cultivate and yielded little short-term benefit. Reciting it daily would suffice.
Slot Four was occupied by the Ancient Soul Art. Slot Five was permanently assigned to the Corpse Demon Secret Technique. Once he advanced it again, he could completely eliminate the side effects of bodily distortion.
Although his “Little Wang Yu” had regained function, something still felt off. Not as satisfying as before.
Simply put, uninteresting.
In only one hour, the secret cultivation chamber had been dismantled into large slabs of stone, all stacked neatly at the center. The four dragon-headed pillars and stone platforms were packed away as well.
Once the preparations were complete, he exerted his strength.
The shackles and chains shattered simultaneously. His divine sense surged forth, wrapping around all the items and sending them straight into his storage bag.
At that exact moment, the destroyed chain set reactivated its internal spatial sigil.
Heaven and earth shifted.
He returned once again to the Corpse Fiend Nest he had encountered earlier. It was strange that an object used to restrain prisoners could actually serve as a direct passage into the Evil-Suppressing Prison.
The feeling was peculiar. Moreover, he had not seen a single trace of the True Demon Scripture of Rakshasa from beginning to end, not even the slightest wisp of its power.
This made him suspect something terrifying. Perhaps everything he had seen today bore traces of Rakshasa power. Logically speaking, since the Asura Scripture was a heart-mind cultivation method, the Rakshasa Scripture being the same made perfect sense.
“Both come from the same origin. It’s reasonable that I couldn’t distinguish them. However, this wave has truly ended. If I get the chance in the future, I might venture into the Savage Ancient Plains to investigate.”
After standing still in silence for a moment, Wang Yu activated his Soul-Seeking and Demon-Hunting Secret Technique.
Soon, he opened his eyes again.
“My luck today is surprisingly good.”
In the grayish-white vision of the secret art, the world appeared like a three-dimensional black-and-white model. As long as something existed within the environment, Wang Yu could accurately lock onto it.
The inheritance of the Ancient Heavenly Soul Sect truly lived up to its reputation as a once-dominant power.
He had left this place for less than a day before a new monster came to occupy the Corpse Fiend’s territory. These corpse-path creatures seemed to share some kind of resonance. The intruder was a Corpse Demon.
He had seen such a creature before in the Moon Condensation Underground Palace of the Blackbone Mountain.
Intelligent yet reckless, much like a newly awakened beast demon. That was likely why they were called Corpse Demons. With the passage of time, their intelligence would grow until they became indistinguishable from ordinary humans.
They could even cultivate corpse-path techniques and corpse arts. They were beings born from the remains of the dead. The stronger the corpse, the lower the chance of birthing a Corpse Demon.
It was a unique kind of lifeform, one that also had a lifespan, though roughly twice as long as that of humans.
Among Corpse Demons, there also existed non-violent variants. These rejected the foul miasma of death and embraced living spiritual energy. They were known as Spirit Corpses.
Sometimes they were also called Shade Corpses. It was said that upon reaching a certain realm, they could reverse yin and yang and return to life from death.
That was a true legend, as rare as the Spirits of Heaven and Earth, even rarer than the Everlasting Life Branches.
The one Wang Yu encountered was merely an ordinary specimen.
Even so, it was a supreme-grade refining material. Perhaps it could be fused with the Corpse Fiend’s body.
As usual, destroy the soul but leave the body intact.
His mastery of soul-path secret techniques granted him this benefit. If applied to humans... well, he might as well visit Golden Abundance Tower someday to purchase a Human Seed Bag.
He wasn’t a great devil. Extracting value from his enemies was enough. There was no need to be overly cruel.
In the darkness, the Corpse Demon scratched its head, peering around as if searching for the Corpse Fiend’s traces. It seemed unsure of whether its target was alive or dead.
"Woo woo woo—"
A mournful wail echoed like weeping ghosts. The Corpse Demon’s steps froze instantly.
It saw the Corpse Fiend standing in the darkness, silently watching it.
