Chapter 286 - 285: Testing Her Feelings

Sharon Cheney waved Bella Acker over to her side and handed her the coat placed by her leg, saying, "It’s cold, quickly put on the coat, be careful not to catch a cold."

"Godmother, I’m not cold. But your hand feels a bit chilly." Bella unfolded the coat and draped it over Sharon Cheney’s shoulders.

Sharon was taken aback, fleetingly experiencing the illusion of having truly reunited with her daughter.

"Godmother, what’s wrong?" Bella asked in confusion upon seeing her lost in thought.

"It’s nothing." Sharon regained her composure with a gentle smile, "It’s just that our Bella is really wonderful."

"Isn’t that right." Bella chuckled, her eyes smiling bright, "I’ll be even better to Godmother in the future."

"I’m already very happy with your intentions." Sharon could tell Bella wasn’t just saying it for show; she meant it just like she said.

Vivian Norris jumped in with a laugh, "Ms. Cheney accepted Bella as her goddaughter?"

"Yes." Sharon patted Bella’s hand, hinting, "I, as a godmother, don’t have any background or status, and can’t protect my daughter much. But if anyone bullies her, I’d rather lose face than not stand up for her and seek some justice."

"Naturally." Vivi’s smile froze for a moment before returning to normal.

Though Sharon was no longer a sizzling top star and usually just picked supporting roles she liked, her decades in the entertainment industry gave her connections not just anyone could compare with, even if not in terms of background and status.

Bella was incredibly lucky to have managed to cross paths with her.

Vivi felt quite annoyed, maybe due to her dealings with Bella herself, and felt Sharon’s words had hidden meanings, seemingly directed at her.

But many in their line of work emphasized appearances. After all, being public figures, if they tore into each other during a scene and got caught by paparazzi, it would only turn into negative press.

Sharon momentarily jabbed Vivi pointedly, then disregarded her and softly, in a voice only she and Bella could hear, asked, "Bella, what did Archer talk to you about?"

"Oh, nothing much, just Senior Quinn picked out some messages for me to look at." Bella said, "Godmother, don’t muddy the waters."

"Silly girl, saying such distant words?" Sharon softly glared at her.

Bella adorably stuck out her little tongue, pouted cutely, "I’m just worried about you getting concerned, that’s all."

"Not knowing anything would make me even more worried." Sharon gently tapped her forehead, "But with Archer’s management team handling things, there shouldn’t be any issues."

Bella nodded, "This was originally my issue, but in the end, it’s all been Senior Quinn solving it. After this storm passes, I must invite Senior Quinn to dinner, to properly thank him."

"That’s only right." Sharon said, "Archer is really great."

"Eh?" Bella looked at her with curiosity, "Godmother, how come your view towards Senior Quinn has suddenly gotten so much better?"

"What’s so odd about that?" Sharon glanced at her, "I wasn’t familiar before, but now that I understand him, naturally my viewpoint changes."

"Hehe, Senior Quinn is really nice." Bella nodded and then sighed, "But Senior Quinn has a tough break; with such a strong group of female fans, finding a girlfriend is bound to be difficult."
