Walker Of The Blue Sky

Chapter 83: Ch 83: Soul Mark: Lord of the Cursed Abyss

Chapter 83: Ch 83: Soul Mark: Lord of the Cursed Abyss

Currently, Emrys could be seen seated at the center of a massive blood pattern, surrounded by a dark mist that nearly obscured his figure entirely. Not a single Soul Orb remained; all had been devoured by the encroaching darkness.

Meanwhile, Emrys’s muscles and bones continued to tremble, emitting a string-like noise that filled the air.

As time passed, the dark mist surrounding him began to constrict. It was initially wispy, but it gradually wrapped around Emrys so tightly that it formed a dark cocoon, enclosing him completely.

Ta-thud!

Ta-thud!

The cocoon pulsed rhythmically, as if mimicking the heartbeat of a person. With each pulse, a cloud of dark mist was expelled from the cocoon that dispersed in the surroundings soon.

Time continued to pass slowly. In the blink of an eye, three days went by.

Crrrr~

On the fourth day, a crackling noise rang in the air. The nine giant red creatures could see cracks appearing on the dark cocoon. Faint light could be seen emanating from the crack.

The crack slowly spread all over the cocoon’s body, and then, "BOOM", it suddenly exploded.

"Roar!" x9.

The nine red creatures roared in fear, their roars appeared desperate and filled with pleading.

As the cocoon exploded, dark mist swept over everywhere like a tsunami, engulfing dozens of miles instantly. There was so much dark mist that it completely blinded the sight of dark pillars of light, of course, only at the lower level. The dark pillars of light could still be seen from afar, rising high, touching the red sky.

No one could see anything that was happening within this land filled with dark mist. The nine giant red creatures were eaten by the mist at a speed visible to the naked eye. If someone could see, they could clearly witness the horrible sight of these creatures first losing their skin, followed by flesh, blood, and bones. In the blink of an eye, the entire existence of these creatures disappeared.

Rumble~

As the nine giant red creatures were swallowed by the dark mist, a rumbling noise rose from the ground. The nine black pillars of light shook heavily and cracks appeared on them. These cracks were far from ordinary, the gap created within the pillar’s surface due to the appearance of cracks were filled with strange runes. These runes were exuding ancient aura, but far more demonic.

"Roar!"

A roaring sound suddenly echoed in the misty land. This roar sounded more like the voice of a dragon but filled with arrogance and dominance.

The dark mist swirled and rose high in the sky, slowly gathering at one point, and finally materializing into a giant creature. This creature was a dragon.

The dragon’s scales were as black as the deepest abyss, shimmering with an eerie iridescence that exuded a cursed aura that appeared to be enough to plague any being.

"Roar!"

Raised its head, it roared at the sky once again. For a moment, the red sky turned completely dark before coming back to its normal red hue. As it moved, its movement exuded a sense of primal power and malevolence.

The dragon’s eyes were burning with a ghastly crimson glow, mirroring the eternal flames of the cursed abyss. The dragon’s wings were tattered and jagged, like the torn fabric of the abyss itself, trailing shadows that seemed to swallow light.

Its entire body was covered in strange symbols that gave off an ancient but cursed aura.

This dragon was the man’s own Soul Mark.

"Hahaha!" The man started laughing once again, his laughter becoming louder and louder. "I have finally awakened my own Soul Mark as well. My time in the Spiritarium was not for nothing after all!"

The man continued to laugh for a while. His laughter subsided as he turned his gaze towards the giant dragon in the sky that had condensed from the dark mist stretching across dozens of miles. Their eyes locked with each other.

Initially, everything seemed normal to the man. However, after a few moments, a realization dawned on him. He realized that something was very wrong.

He peered deeply into the dragon’s eyes. This dragon was his Soul Mark and they should have already formed a deep connection with each other. Yet, he couldn’t sense the expected bond between them now that it had manifested as his Soul Beast. Moreover, the dragon’s gaze didn’t seem directed at him; rather, it penetrated deeper, seemingly delving into the depths of his soul.

But why?

The man’s heart beat fast. He once again thought of the person that sealed him within the red, bloody space.

Could it be that Ling Xiaolong had truly dug a pit for him to fall, but he failed to discover that pit because it was hidden much deeper than he could have ever imagined?

The man quickly shook his head.

No, it can’t be!

He was very alert from the instant one of the chains shattered. Before taking any step, he clearly inspected this body for any sign of a trap. With the soul power at his level, how could something escape his eyes, mainly when it is related to an extremely weak body?

"Roar!"

While the man was still thinking hard, the dragon in the sky roared, and then suddenly flew at him. It transformed into a streak of dark light and entered his glabella.

The man closed his eyes and focused his senses on the streak of dark light, following it closely. Soon, both of them entered the sea of consciousness.

It was at this moment that the man noticed something he hadn’t seen before. There, in the middle of his sea of consciousness, floated a shining blue orb.

"How could that be? I didn’t see anything when I inspected this body before. Could it be that this blue orb was hidden inside my consciousness when that person sealed me?"

The more the man thought, the more he felt this was true.

He was about to inspect the soul orb when the streak of dark light halted after positioning itself parallel to the blue orb.

Screech~

Roar!

A loud screech of a bird and a draconic roar erupted within the sea of consciousness, exploding with unfathomable momentum. The momentum was so intimidating that it actually pressurized the man’s senses, kicking him out of the sea of consciousness.

"What?"

"What happened just now?"

The man found it hard to breathe. He gasped for air and calmed down only after taking a few deep breaths. Unknowingly, drops of sweat formed on his forehead, further astonishing him.

He hurriedly looked inside the sea of consciousness once again. This time, he was surprised to see another dark orb floating above the blue orb. Moreover, there were two extremely thin layers between the orbs, as if they existed to prevent the orbs from invading each other’s territories.

The upper thin layer was created from dark mist, while the lower thin layer was created from blue mist.

Suddenly, a translucent screen appeared in front of his eyes.

.....

[Name: Emrys Frazier.

Cultivation: Intermediate Gold Soul Master.

Soul Mark: Walker of the Blue Sky, Lord of the Cursed Abyss.

Soul Point: 49,700.

Unique Skills: Soul Orb Enhancement, Soul Force Extraction.]

.....

"What is this thing?"

The man frowned, not knowing how this translucent screen appeared in front of him. Moreover, there was some information written on the screen.

When he read the information, he was surprised.

"My name is not Emrys Frazier, then whose name is it? Could this be the name of the original owner of this body?"

The man nodded and muttered, "It is likely the name of the original owner of this body. Now, this name belonged to me. I shall live with this identity from now on. This way, I can avoid all of my enemies’ eyes while I am still weak."

The man then shifted his attention from the translucent screen to the blue orb, and another similar screen appeared before his eyes.

.....

.....

The man was surprised. He observed the screen for a while before shifting his attention to the blue orb once again.

He understood that the Walker of the Blue Sky used to be the Soul Mark of Emrys Frazier.

"But now, you are mine!"

The man laughed and muttered, "Now, I have two Soul Marks. How marvelous!"

He then once again shifted his attention and looked at the dark orb. Just like that, another translucent screen appeared before his eyes, giving him information about the dark orb which is also supposed to be his own Soul Mark and Soul Beast.

.....

.....

"What the..."

The man was surprised.

It wasn’t that he wasn’t happy to see the information about his Soul Mark; he was just taken aback by the differences between the Soul Mark he had awakened and the one awakened by Emrys.

There were a few major differences. First of all, Emrys’s Soul Mark was marked with the character ’Mortal,’ while his was not.

Secondly, Emrys’s Soul Mark was Mythical-level, while his was only Legendary.

Finally, the Origin Skill obtained from Emrys’s Soul Mark was marked with ’Introductory’ and ’Proficient’ characters, while his was not.
