Chapter 136: Ch 136: Danger of Possession

"Do you have any ideas?" Emrys asked.

Xu Ling replied: "Although I can’t break this formation, I do have a method that might be able to break it. But, it requires a very high level of strength. I don’t think we can break this formation with our strength."

"Is that so?" Emrys was speechless. Xu Ling did know a method, but their combined strength was not enough to break the formation in her eyes.

Emrys did not doubt her. During the last few days, it was clear that Xu Ling had witnessed his strength thoroughly. Since she still thinks it is not enough, it just means it truly is not enough to do the task.

However, Xu Ling’s next words made Emrys somewhat happy: "Although we can’t break the formation with our strength, we can still use that method to create a small flaw and escape."

"Why didn’t you say so earlier?" Emrys mused and spoke, "Hurry and tell me the method."

Xu Ling nodded her head and started telling him the method to create a flaw in the formation. The method was brilliant.

Emrys immediately took out the Green Spirit Fruit and started utilizing that method. First, he needed to extract the essence of this fruit. Xu Ling also took out two spirit fruits and started to help Emrys extract the fruits’ essence.

When this was done, the two of them started drawing some sort of patterns on the ground by using the essence of spirit fruits. While doing so, they also needed to fuse their own strength into the patterns. Streams of Qi, Soul Force, and even foggy energy which is essentially the basic form of Cosmic Energy could be seen flowing out of their bodies, fusing with patterns, radiating the patterns with golden light.

One hour later, Xu Ling used up all her strength and stopped. Emrys continued to do the job.

Just like that, several hours passed. Finally, Emrys also used up the last bit of his strength. Fortunately, the pattern was completed.

A brilliant golden light suddenly burst out from the patterns they drew. At the same time, the pattern expanded crazily. A few dark spots appeared on the pattern at several places.

When Xu Ling saw those dark spots, she could not help but exclaim excitedly, "Emrys, let’s hurry and follow those dark spots. Remember, only step on the dark spots."

Emrys: "..."

He was confused at first but soon understood that those dark spots were the flaws created by them in the formation. Without hesitation, he started to step on the dark spots and move forward.

After almost an hour, Emrys did not know how many detours he had taken by following those dark spots, but all of a sudden, everything in front of him lit up, and all of the illusions disappeared.

They had finally escaped the trap of that formation by utilizing Xu Ling’s method.

It was kind of luck that this unlucky girl had knowledge about formations. Otherwise, escaping the formation might have proven to be extremely difficult.

"Sigh, we are finally out!"

Both Xu Ling and Emrys heaved a sigh of relief and focused on what was in front of them.

What appeared in front of them was another gigantic building. This building was located somewhere inside the palace, as for where, it cannot be said.

This building was huge and round, with a diameter of several hundreds of meters. It was surprisingly even bigger than the palace they had seen from the outside. However, this huge building actually existed inside the palace.

How was this possible?

It was unknown.

Emrys kept observing the building and its surroundings with high alert. He feared it might be another trap or danger.

As he observed, he saw a few giant gates in the building. A wide path led directly to these gates.

Emrys also noticed several green jade tablets in front of these gates. What caught his eyes was that these green jade tablets including the two sides of the pathway were inscribed with all sorts of complicated patterns.

Xu Ling’s eyes lit up when she saw these patterns. She could not help but mutter, "These patterns are extremely similar to the inscriptions obtained by ’him’ a hundred thousand years ago. Could these be inscriptions?"

Her voice was low, but enough for Emrys to hear. It is just that he did not ask anything.

"What are we standing here for? Let’s quickly go in" Xu Ling looked at Emrys and started to urge him. Emrys nodded his head and followed the pathway straight into the building.

When they arrived at the end of the pathway, Emrys forced open the gate and took a step in. In an instant, his mind suddenly shook, and the environment in front of him changed again as he appeared in the middle of a golden hall. He was inside the building.

Emrys’s heart skipped a beat as he looked ahead.

The interior of this great hall was bright and resplendent. Surrounding it were burning candles, making it as bright as day.

On the other hand, the inscription patterns on the ground continued to glow with a brilliant light. It was as if there was a powerful and terrifying aura within the hall.

In the middle of this hall was a huge chair. This chair was more like a throne used to sit by the kings of a country or an empire.

"Boom!"

Just as Emrys was looking at the four sides of the hall, a white light shot out from the king’s throne and shone onto Emrys’s body.

In an instant, Emrys found he couldn’t move. His entire body was imprisoned within the white light. He tried to struggle with all his might but still could not move.

What is more, he had a feeling that the white light specifically targeted him for some reason. Although this was just a feeling born in his heart, he could not help but believe this feeling.

"Why is it like this?"

Emrys struggled, but it seemed like he could not use his strength at all.

"Don’t move. Otherwise, you might fall into an even bigger trouble." Xu Ling’s voice sounded again from behind.

Since Emrys could not move, he could not see. But if he could, he would have seen the light in Xu Ling’s eyes. Obviously, she was excited about something.

"What do you mean?"

Emrys did not understand, but he still cooperated and stopped struggling.

The light in the hall brightened up once again. A tall platform slowly rose up from the throne. On top of this platform appeared a giant black figure. This giant figure looked like a white fog in black clothes. It was bizarre.

"Tsk! Tsk! I never thought that after so long, there would finally be a person who has passed through the illusion array that old fogey Aldo set up and arrived at this hall."

That giant black figure floated over and circled around Emrys’s immobile body, releasing a sound that was enough to cause one’s heart to palpitate.

What made him frown was that this black figure seemed to have no intention of taking any action against Xu Ling. It behaved as if Xu Ling was not present there.

After all, it was both him and Xu Ling who escaped the formation and came here. If this black figure was not especially targeting him, then why did it only restrain him and ignore Xu Ling’s existence completely?

"Who are you? What do you want from me?"

Emrys’s mind trembled. This giant black figure did not seem to have any good intentions. His face revealed a look of extreme seriousness.

"Who am I?"

"Well, it doesn’t matter who I am. In fact, from now on, I will be you. Hahahaha!" The giant black figure replied brazenly, bringing its huge face that could not clearly seen in front of Emrys.

"Emrys, be careful. This is the spirit of an ancient expert. It seems he wants to possess your body. Why are you talking so much about it? Try to break free of the restraints and escape. If you cannot do that, you will be doomed."

From behind, Xu Ling shouted at him after seeing his current situation. Her tone was filled with a strong sense of seriousness.

"Trying to possess me?" Emrys frowned deeply and a sense of anger rose in his heart. He can swear that he was falling in danger again and again because of the ominous lady standing behind him. During the past few days, her luck brought a lot of trouble for him. Fortunately, those troubles were nothing and he dealt with them quite easily.

However, this time, it was different.

First, it was the white space. Then he was trapped in a formation. And now, the soul of an ancient expert wanted to possess his body.

"It would have been better had I not accepted her offer that day. Even if I did so, I should have never entered the first formation with her. I am in this situation only because of her terrible luck."

"But, why is her bad luck affecting me instead?"

This was something Emrys could not understand, and it was not the time to think about it either.
