Chapter 294 - 293
Chapter 294 - 293
When the golden symbol above her head flickered violently before shattering into countless fragments, the invisible drain on the captain’s soul vanished instantly, as if it had never existed in the first place.
Sensing this abrupt change, and realizing that even Nascent Soul Transformation–level spells were completely ineffective against her, the other white-haired man did not hesitate. His expression shifted, and without a second thought, he turned and fled at full speed.
However, before he could create any real distance.
Snap.
The crisp sound of fingers snapping echoed through the air.
A devilish smile slowly spread across the captain’s face.
At that exact moment, a small talisman that had been stuck to her hand, hidden beneath the folds of her clothing, suddenly ignited. Flames burst forth from its surface as it rapidly burned away, releasing a strange and distorted fluctuation in space.
Then,
The captain vanished.
No, vanished wasn’t the right word.
She reappeared directly in front of the fleeing white-haired man, as though space itself had folded to deliver her there. This was no longer something that could be described as speed, nor was it flight.
This was warping.
True spatial distortion.
For the first time, genuine terror appeared on the white-haired man’s face.
The captain’s sudden appearance disrupted his thoughts entirely, causing his reaction to lag by a fatal margin. Before he could even process what had happened, before hesitation could even form.
A pitch-black spear pierced straight through his chest.
The impact sent his body flying backward through the air.
His eyes widened in disbelief as blood erupted violently from his mouth, spilling out like a fountain. His complexion turned deathly pale in an instant, all color draining from his face.
"I lost... This person... is too terrifying..."
Those were his final thoughts.
Darkness quickly consumed his vision, dragging him into an endless abyss. Yet strangely, as death embraced him, a faint sense of relief welled up from deep within his heart.
His suffering... was finally over.
---
The captain coldly withdrew the black spear from his chest, her expression completely indifferent, as though she had merely crushed an insect.
She watched silently as the corpse before her began to change.
The white-haired man’s features twisted and shifted. His body shrank, his frame becoming smaller and more delicate. Within moments, the corpse had completely transformed—
Into a young woman.
Her face was serene. Beautiful.
Peaceful.
It was as though, in death, she had finally returned to her true self.
However, that fleeting tranquility did not last.
In the next instant, white flames suddenly erupted from within her body.
They burned fiercely.
Relentlessly.
The corpse was quickly engulfed, reduced to ashes within seconds. The last remnants of her life force were devoured completely, along with the final shred of lingering will that had yet to dissipate.
The captain looked at the rapidly disappearing ashes with a cold glint in her eyes. The white flames that had burned the body of the woman soon retreated back into her body.
Loud booming sounds soon erupted from her body as blood trickled down the side of her lips.
After doing that, she glanced around her and saw Grey panting heavily beside a mangled corpse. His body was soaked in sweat and blood.
As he squatted beside the corpse, a bloody aura spread out from his body. A second later, the Life Demon came back and turned into flames that entered his body.
When it left, there was a completely unrecognizable corpse on the ground. It’s limbs were severed and mangled. Blood was splattered everywhere.
The same scene could be seen near Roxanne. However, her expression was more relaxed tan them. But her face was a little pale and sweat had covered her forehead.
Clearly the battle was also tough for her. But they were stronger than the last time they fought against the white haired clones. This time, each of them could handle two clones provided they went all out.
"That’s all right clones. We can start getting ready to get the stuff now." The captain’s voice rang out and she soon after close to them.
This battle was the toughest they all had but it brought to all of them great benefits. Grey’s Life Demon art devoured the Life force of all life forms.
Cultivators with high cultivation above the Spirit Core Formation realm was very beneficial for him. He could feel his power rising even more and was even suppressing the urge to break through right here.
After all, they were before an enemy in enemy territory. Breaking through would be very sudden and can lead to risks.
’After we’re done, I’ll enter closed door cultivation and break through!’ Grey said with determination as he stared at the head above the crystal palace.
Violet and Roxanne’s gazed were also on the head. This was to be the final battle and would also determine whether they would get what they came here for.
From the moment they came here, there was no backing off. And now that they had gotten this far, they would make sure they saw this to the end.
"Let’s go!"
The captaon said and charged towards the crystal palace. Roxanne also charged forward and Grey was last.
All of them released their cultivation based as they charged towards the crystal palace that was several thousands meters away.
Although Grey was the last to charge ahead, his speed was superior and he easily caught up. They charged and as they got five thousand meters close to the crystal palace, an oppressive and overwhelming pressure suddenly fell on them.
This pressure was not caused by a person releasing his cultivation base, it was caused by the invisible presence of the head which was in the Soul Ascendancy realm.
Grey, Violet and Roxanne were all cultivators in the Foundation Establishment realm. They could not come close to the level of such an expert, hence, they all felt as if hundreds of heavy mountains had been dropped on top of them at the same time.
Their speed immediately dropped as the feeling of carrying a very large object occured to them.
’This pressure... compared to it, the brilliance of Foundation Establishment is nothing.’
Grey said inwardly as he struggled to cope with the pressure. With a loud bang, all three of his Spirit Fires roared to life.
As three balls of Spirit Fire appeared and began to orbit around him, two exuded a very hot and intense burning aura while the other one exuded a very cold aura.
They contrasted each other... but the overall power caused Grey’s strength to soar.
As multiple booming sounds rang out in recession, his speed increased and he accelerated once more. Charging towards the crystal palace with madness and determination.
