Chapter 277
Chapter 277
Because of this, Grey’s expression became even more solemn, and the muscles in his body tensed slightly.
He was ready to do anything necessary to escape if the situation turned dangerous.
However, it seemed that Grey’s cautious actions caused the hidden existence to fall silent for a while.
Even after four breaths of time had passed, nothing appeared.
Although Grey was slightly surprised by this, he did not hesitate to begin circulating both his spirit energy and his Cold Yin energy.
He was already prepared to self-destruct one of his Spirit Fires in order to gain a burst of power and escape from this place.
When the seventh breath arrived, the soft voice suddenly chuckled.
"Little friend, why are you so eager to cripple your own cultivation out of fear?"
As soon as the voice finished speaking, a gentle force swept through the air and quietly halted Grey’s destructive plan before it could continue.
At the same moment, a figure slowly appeared from the surrounding darkness.
It was an old man dressed in plain clothes. His eyes were dim and muddled, and he wore a pair of simple sandals on his feet.
In such a mysterious and ancient place, his appearance seemed extremely out of place.
Although Grey was inwardly shocked, he did his best to hide it and maintained a bold and cautious front.
When the old man saw this reaction, he merely smiled lightly and did not step any closer.
"Little friend, you can really see me? How many years has it been since I last spoke with someone..."
His voice sounded aged and filled with a faint trace of loneliness and sadness.
Although Grey remained extremely wary, he still did not say anything and only continued to retreat further away.
The fact that the old man had effortlessly stopped his self-destruction made Grey certain that the other party was an existence at a terrifyingly high level.
If the old man wished, he could probably kill Grey with ease.
"Little friend, do not be alarmed," the old man said gently. "I have been trapped here for a very long time. Ever since my master fell and entered a deep sleep, I have been unable to leave this place."
Although Grey was slightly surprised by these words, he still remained silent and continued moving backward cautiously.
After a brief pause, Grey finally asked in a guarded voice,
"Where are the others who were just here with me?"
The old man chuckled softly, as though he had long expected this question.
"Do not worry, little friend. I simply brought you into another space so that we could speak privately. Once we finish our conversation, I will return you to them."
His expression remained calm and peaceful.
"They will not even realize that you were gone."
Whether he liked it or not, Grey had no choice but to believe the old man for the time being. After all, he was the weaker party here. With just a single move, the other party could easily finish him off.
"What do you want us to talk about?" Grey asked in a low voice. However, his eyes continued darting around cautiously, observing every small movement in the surroundings.
"It’s nothing much," the old man replied calmly. "Since you are the only one among your companions who can see the mystical threads, then you must be the chosen one. Fate itself must have brought you here."
His voice and expression appeared extremely sincere and heartfelt.
However, Grey did not believe him.
Seeing the hesitation that still lingered in Grey’s gaze, the old man chuckled softly before continuing.
"You and your companions are very interesting. Among the three of you, one is a divine mythical creature of an extremely high level. Unfortunately, it died long ago and was forced to reincarnate."
The old man paused slightly before continuing.
"The other one is an unwanted wandering existence... a being that has travelled through time many times."
After saying this, the old man paused again and turned his gaze toward Grey.
"As for you, the thick fog surrounding you is so dense that even I cannot clearly fathom it. Someone from a far higher realm has placed a powerful seal upon you and your memories."
He narrowed his eyes slightly.
"Moreover... the secrets surrounding you..."
"Not only that, but there are several sealed inheritances and ancient existences hidden on your person. And there is also a faint trace of the moon lingering on you."
Hearing these words, Grey felt as if every secret he possessed had been completely seen through by the old man before him.
Not only had the old man spoken about Grey’s own secrets, but he had also exposed Roxanne and the Captain.
However, Grey quickly realized that the old man had not revealed everything.
For example, he had mentioned that the Captain was a wandering existence who had travelled through time many times. Yet he had not spoken about her true stance or her actual goals.
This made Grey unable to determine whether the old man had good intentions or malicious ones.
’However, even though he mentioned many of the secrets surrounding me, he did not discover the existence of the purple crystal. He also does not seem to know who placed the seal on my memories,’ Grey thought inwardly.
Since the old man had not mentioned the purple crystal at all, Grey suddenly realized that the crystal might be far more extraordinary than he had originally imagined.
Now that he thought about it carefully, even the divine entity they had summoned earlier did not seem to have detected the existence of the purple crystal.
This realization caused Grey’s heart to tremble slightly with fear.
When the old man saw Grey shiver faintly, he assumed that the young man had finally understood the meaning behind his earlier words. Thus, he slowly continued speaking in an unhurried tone.
"Let me tell you the truth. I do not need much from you. You are the only person I have been able to speak with after such a long time."
He paused briefly before smiling lightly.
"I simply want you to tell me a few things about the outside world."
Then he gently stroked his beard.
"And in exchange, I will allow you to learn a forbidden art that has long been forgotten by the outside world."
The old man looked at Grey calmly.
"What do you say, little friend?"
