Chapter 134 -: 133 The Love Guardian’s hypocrisy.[3]

"Oi, Love Guardian!"

The loud voice cut through the emotional moment like a rude slap.

The Love Guardian was still kneeling on one knee, his massive armored body shaking with happy tears, mouth open to finish his grand speech and officially accept Crypian and Alia as his masters.

Right at that perfect, cheesy second, the voice echoed from the entrance of the 10th floor.

It was a woman’s voice.

Mature and confident... or at least it tried to sound that way.

Honestly, it came out a bit awkward, like someone trying too hard to look cool.

All three of them turned their heads at the same time.

Crypian’s eyes narrowed.

The Love Guardian’s glowing red eyes narrowed too.

But Alia? Her eyes went wide as dinner plates. Her lips started trembling.

"You!!" she blurted out.

Two figures walked toward them calmly.

They wore long black robes that covered their entire bodies, with deep hoods hiding their heads.

Creepy masks sat on their faces, the kind that made you feel uneasy just looking at them.

"There... are two..." Alia muttered softly, her voice shaky.

She recognized the man right away. He was taller and more manly in build.

The woman who had spoken was new, Alia had never seen her before.

Crypian felt Alia trembling beside him. He quickly took her hand in his and squeezed it gently.

"Do you know her?" he asked in a soft voice, frowning at her scared face.

"Mmm..." Alia nodded slowly. She kept staring at the masked pair, her face full of clear discomfort.

"I don’t know the woman..." She paused, then looked at the man.

A wave of humiliation hit her deep in her soul.

After all, this guy had once used her as a hostage to escape.

She gritted her teeth and continued, "But I know the man. He was the one behind that terrorist attack on the academy a few months ago... The Anomaly!"

Crypian turned his sharp gaze toward the two figures.

They walked closer without any rush, their presence strangely hidden.

Still, he could feel it, these two were not normal. They were strong. A heavy feeling settled in his chest.

He glanced at the Love Guardian. The armored giant was now staring hard at the Anomaly pair.

"I don’t have the system right now... Tsk!" Crypian clicked his tongue in regret.

It was better not to mess with them, he thought wisely.

But then again, the Love Guardian had just chosen them as masters.

And from what Crypian could tell, this guardian was very powerful.

Crypian’s own cultivation was still too low to see through the guardian’s strength, but still...

"Hey Honey!" the woman suddenly called out, breaking Crypian’s thoughts.

Her voice carried that awkward mature tone again. "Don’t think we are late?"

"Why is that, Honey?" the man asked.

The grin painted on his creepy mask seemed to shake with amusement.

The woman answered in her mature-sounding voice, which still came out a bit forced and awkward.

"You see, there are only two people and that Love Guardian here. What about the other guys that entered? I was looking forward to killing some."

She clicked her tongue in annoyance and folded her arms, looking grumpy like a child who missed her favorite game.

The man chuckled softly at her grumpy attitude.

"Don’t be like that," he said, before turning his masked face toward Crypian, Alia, and the Love Guardian.

"After all, we have something fun right here... Wouldn’t you agree... Miss Alia Ruth?"

The moment he said her name, Alia clenched her fists tight.

She bit down hard on her lower lip until a small drop of blood appeared.

Crypian noticed her pained expression right away.

He quickly grabbed her hand and gave it a gentle squeeze, trying to calm her.

"Anyways, ladies and gentlemen," the man continued, shifting his gaze to the Love Guardian.

"We are here for a reason, so we won’t waste time!"

"Yeah yeah, Honey is right," the woman chimed in immediately.

She looked at the Love Guardian with greedy, shining eyes. "Won’t you give us the same trial, Mister Love Guardian?"

As soon as the woman spoke those words, a cold chill ran down both Crypian and Alia’s spines.

They weren’t idiots. They could clearly feel how badly outmatched they were.

Either one of those masked figures could probably kill them with just a flick of a finger.

It wasn’t even hidden.

And if they lost the Love Guardian now, what would happen to them right after was painfully obvious.

Both Crypian and Alia turned their eyes toward the armored giant at the same time.

"Didn’t you accept us as your masters?" they asked, almost in unison.

The Love Guardian slowly stood up.

He looked at the masked man and woman for a moment, as if thinking it over.

Then he spoke in his deep voice.

"As per the rules, I shall conduct a fair trial. If you pass the trial, I shall serve you for life and the passage to the 11th floor shall open. However, if you cannot..."

He paused for dramatic effect, his glowing red eyes shining brighter. "...then you must leave this place right this instant!"

As the Love Guardian spoke, both Alia and Crypian’s hearts sank. They tried to convince him quickly.

"But you were about to accept us as your masters..." Crypian said.

"Yeah, Crypian is right," Alia nodded, looking like they had been terribly wronged.

Her voice sounded hurt and desperate.

The Love Guardian turned toward them. His tone stayed firm.

"I have already made things clear. If someone appears who has even purer love than you, then I shall abandon you!"

"But... why!?" they protested, looking completely desperate now.

They knew one thing very clearly, if they couldn’t secure the Love Guardian, their lives would be left in the hands of that masked pair.

Knowing those two, it was highly unlikely they would let them live.

"Damn it!" Crypian cursed under his breath while staring at the Love Guardian.

He felt completely cornered. Neither his system nor this Love Guardian was listening to him!

If he still had the system, he could have just let things play out... and once he reached his limit, he would die and regress.

But without the system, he had no hope of regressing. He couldn’t even use any skills.

As he was worrying about all this, his gaze suddenly met the Love Guardian’s. The armored giant gave him a small nod and spoke softly.

"Don’t worry. They won’t win."
