Chapter 429 429 This is Love
"Lin Kuang, you bastard, where are you?! Where did you go?! Come out!" Yang Ruoxi screamed, her pretty face deathly pale. Her beautiful eyes were filled with worry as tears streamed endlessly down her cheeks.
She looked utterly helpless and panicked, her heart aching as if she had lost something precious. It felt like her very heart was bleeding. "Lin Kuang, please come out! Please, just come out!" she cried, staring into the empty woods before collapsing to the ground, sobbing uncontrollably.
Her cries echoed through the silent forest, a sound so forlorn it seemed to come from a lost soul, wrenching the heart of anyone who might hear it. She was like a helpless little girl, hugging her knees and weeping as her tears soaked the fabric over them.
"COUGH, COUGH… Ruoxi, I'm not dead yet."
Lin Kuang's weak voice sounded from the darkness as he emerged, covered in blood. His face was ashen; he was clearly seriously injured.
In truth, Lin Kuang had been prepared for Liu Daotong's explosion, but it had happened too suddenly. Despite his swift reaction, he was still sent flying by the force of the self-destruction. Fortunately, he was powerful enough and had reacted in the nick of time to avoid being killed.
Even so, his internal injuries were severe. His meridians were ruptured, and his organs were badly damaged. The blood covering him was not his own; it was from Liu Daotong's self-destruction.
The sound of Yang Ruoxi's heartbroken cries was like a blade stabbing into Lin Kuang's heart, sending a tremor through his body. He could feel her love in those sobs… She truly loves me. A wave of warmth filled his chest. In that moment, feeling her deep affection was all that mattered.
Hearing his voice, the crying Yang Ruoxi trembled. Her head snapped up, her bloodshot eyes darting toward the sound. She froze when she saw Lin Kuang standing there, covered in blood.
An instant later, she shot to her feet and flung herself into his arms like a homing swallow. "You bastard, you scared me to death!" Yang Ruoxi cried, pummeling his chest with her small fists as unstoppable tears streamed down her face.
Looking at her tear-streaked face, Lin Kuang wrapped his arms around her and held her tight.
"Hey, I'm not dead yet. Are you trying to make me die of a broken heart?" he said with a laugh, his voice laced with deep affection.
"I hope you do! I hope you do, you bastard!" Yang Ruoxi sobbed, clutching his back tightly and burying her face in his shoulder.
"Alright, it's okay. Everything's okay," Lin Kuang comforted her softly. "Don't cry anymore, or you won't be pretty."
"I'll cry if I want to! Even if I'm not pretty, you're still not allowed to leave me," Yang Ruoxi said, her eyes red.
"Of course. Even if my darling Ruoxi turns into a little kitten with a tear-streaked face, she'll still be my wife," Lin Kuang said, his eyes crinkling into a smile.
"Hmph! You're the one who looks like a kitten with a messy face! You bastard, you big jerk!" Yang Ruoxi huffed, pinching his back hard and making him grimace in pain.
"OW! My lady, please, stop pinching! You'll really kill me!" Lin Kuang said hastily.
Hearing this, Yang Ruoxi finally let him go.
"Alright, this is over now. We should head back. Uncle Yang is very worried about you," Lin Kuang said with a smile.
"Okay, let's go back," Yang Ruoxi said, her eyes still misty. Lin Kuang gently wiped the tear tracks from her face. With that done, he pulled out his phone to call for a helicopter.
The helicopter arrived in less than ten minutes and lowered a cable. Lin Kuang and Yang Ruoxi climbed up into the cabin.
"Let's go. Back to East Sea," Lin Kuang said, his voice weak.
"Yes, Instructor Lin," the pilot acknowledged before turning the helicopter around and flying toward the East Sea Military Region.
Inside the helicopter, Lin Kuang closed his eyes to rest. His injuries were severe, and if he didn't rest soon, it would be detrimental to his recovery and could even lead to lasting complications. During the two-hour flight, his internal injuries stabilized. Although he hadn't fully recovered, he was out of immediate danger.
When the helicopter landed, Lin Kuang opened the cabin door and helped Yang Ruoxi out. Outside, Yang Wucheng was waiting on the parade ground.
Yang Wucheng let out a deep sigh of relief when he saw them emerge. He rushed forward and embraced Yang Ruoxi tightly, his eyes glistening with unshed tears. "My dear girl, I'm so sorry you had to go through this," he said, his voice thick with self-reproach.
Yang Ruoxi shook her head vigorously. "No, Dad, this wasn't your fault! If anyone's to blame, it's those bastards from the Chen Family!" she said, her voice filled with fury.
Yang Wucheng nodded firmly. "You're right. It's all their fault. Ruoxi, rest assured, this will never happen again," he said solemnly, a murderous glint in his eyes.
"Okay, Dad. Don't worry. With Lin Kuang protecting me, I'll be fine," Yang Ruoxi said with a grin.
Yang Wucheng smiled at that, then straightened up and turned his gaze to Lin Kuang. "Young man, thank you," he said earnestly. Without Lin Kuang, his daughter would have been doomed.
"Uncle Yang, it was my duty. After all, Ruoxi is my wife," Lin Kuang said with a grin, giving Yang Wucheng a wink.
"Who's your wife?" Yang Ruoxi retorted, her face flushing red before her father could even speak.
"You are. And you can't run away from it," Lin Kuang said with a laugh, looking at her.
"Kid, you have my support. I've already accepted you as my son-in-law anyway. You'd better give me a grandson soon!" Yang Wucheng clapped Lin Kuang on the shoulder, laughing heartily. His words made Yang Ruoxi, standing beside them, turn beet red.
"Dad..." Yang Ruoxi whined, drawing out the word as her face burned.
"What is it? Be nice to my son-in-law," Yang Wucheng said with a grin and another wink, which made Yang Ruoxi wish the ground would swallow her whole.
"Well, wifey, shall we go?" Lin Kuang said with a smile, taking her small hand in his.
