Chapter 666 - 447: Undead Authority, The Path to Godhood, Defying Fate’s Miracles!
Perhaps this wasn’t an Array at all, but a slaughterhouse or an experimental site! The beings imprisoned in the ten levels of the prison above... they weren’t criminals, but Undead Creatures! They were living materials, about to be dragged into this laboratory for inhumane experiments!
Of course, that wasn’t all. In reality, everything Fang Zhou observed—the tables, chairs, torture devices, skeletons, and blood—occupied only a tiny portion of this vast space.
In the center of this slaughterhouse stood an altar. Though small, its shape was almost identical to the one Fang Zhou had destroyed in the Cemetery Hills. The difference was that the altar he had previously destroyed had been occupied by modified and enhanced Zombies. This small altar, however, was laden with broken Skeletons.
Moreover, a pitch-black portal hovered above this less-than-two-meter-high black altar. Endless Death Energy flowed from this portal, constrained by the altar below. After passing through the hundreds or thousands of skeletal remains on the altar, the mist-like Death Energy surged out again from the orifices of the skulls, spreading outward.
Altar of Death! Everything from the Skeleton Lord’s memory... Vladimir’s old speculations... and the records on that Zombie altar... It’s all true!
Taking a few quick steps, Fang Zhou entered the Array, his heart pounding with a bit of excitement. Altar of Death was the name of this black altar. An altar that constantly emitted pure Death Energy was naturally priceless. Simply staying in this area allowed Low-Level Undead like Skeletons or Zombies to grow and evolve at an extremely rapid pace. Even for Fang Zhou, bathing in this pure Death Energy with his Lower-Bronze strength would yield considerable benefits over time. He presumed that the Skeleton Lord, a powerhouse who rose from among countless skeletons, must have also drawn significant benefits from the Energy radiating from this Altar of Death.
Fang Zhou reviewed the Skeleton Lord’s memories and shook his head slightly. Unfortunately, unlike Fang Zhou, who had access to the Naraku Civilization’s knowledge of Arrays from various sources, the Skeleton Lord had started from scratch as a purely feral Undead Creature. He had stumbled upon a treasure trove but didn’t know how to access it. With the Skeleton Lord’s strength, he had no idea how to break the inherent Defense of the Altar of Death, which had existed for who knows how long. He certainly couldn’t directly touch the black vortex hovering above. Compared to the ambient, pure Death Energy, the altar itself and the vortex were the greatest treasures.
If the Skeleton Lord had been able to interact with them, leveraging the Talent and opportunities granted by the Blood Moon Blessing, he might have long since advanced to the Bronze rank. In that case, he wouldn’t have died so resentfully at the hands of a latecomer like Fang Zhou.
Of course, Fang Zhou had no such troubles. He was now immensely grateful for the accumulated knowledge inherited from Master Sandro, which allowed him to unseal the Altar of Death with practiced ease.
As Fang Zhou moved, countless Runes erupted from the Altar of Death, transforming into tiny Chains that wound around his body. In less than an instant, the Runes imprinted themselves upon his Corpse Armor, binding him tightly.
Sealing! Suppression! Imprisonment! Nullification! Weakening! Restraint!
At a glance, over ten types of Runes flashed from the Altar of Death, acting upon Fang Zhou. The black vortex, long saturated with Death Magic Power, acted like a Magic Spring. It sustained the operation of over a dozen Arrays, sealing Fang Zhou firmly in place and rendering him immobile. He couldn’t even think of attacking; aside from his mind, which remained unaffected, Fang Zhou was incapable of even using his Skills.
However, despite being sealed in place by more than ten Rune Arrays, Fang Zhou actually sighed in relief.
"Detected the presence of Undead Blood Moon Blessing. 10,000 Soul Power can be consumed for devouring and fusion. Begin devouring?"
Upon receiving the prompt from the attribute panel, Fang Zhou’s Soul Fire flickered. It seemed the Skeleton Lord, just as he had suspected, had also received the Blood Moon’s blessing from this mysterious altar. That was how he had mastered the ability to create Skeleton Soldier Talismans and mass-produce Skeleton Commanders.
Faced with such a tremendous windfall, Fang Zhou didn’t hesitate. He immediately consumed a large amount of Soul Power to begin the process of devouring and analysis. Unfortunately, even for the attribute panel, a metaphysical existence like the will of the Undead Realm embodied in the Blood Moon Blessing required some time to digest and analyze.
Fang Zhou observed quietly for a moment. Sensing no immediate changes, he looked up at the altar before him. He didn’t rush to break the seal. Instead, he remained bound, his Soul Fire flickering wildly as he emitted waves of soul fluctuations.
The Naraku Civilization’s Altar of Death... In the Mythical World, it could open a rift to the Undead Realm... But this is already the Undead Realm, so what is its purpose here? For a while now, I’ve tried to explore the Undead Realm beyond the Cemetery Hills, but it was like running into a phantom wall; I could never find a way out. I know of Bronze-level Undead, like the Plague Zombie, an evolved form of the Zombie, and the relatively rare Ghost. Yet, I’ve never encountered them anywhere near the Cemetery Hills. It seems all my questions can be answered here.
Once he had thought all this through, Fang Zhou’s bony hand—which should have been completely sealed and immobile—suddenly clenched tight
