Chapter 653 - 440: Heavenly and Earthly Treasures Acquired, the Joy of Harvest!
Chapter 653 - 440: Heavenly and Earthly Treasures Acquired, the Joy of Harvest!
Although the environment was a mess after the recent battle, Fang Zhou could sense that many useful treasures remained.
For example, there was the vast swath of ghastly green smoke hovering overhead. This was precisely the Breath of Decay that Fang Zhou had long coveted, a rare Black Iron-level Undead Attribute Heavenly and Earthly Treasure. In the middle of this ghastly green smoke was a dry, forked, withered branch. According to Queen Biondis, this was the container their Flower Elf Clan used to preserve the Breath of Decay.
Fang Zhou activated his Language Mastery skill and recited a tongue-twisting spell. As he gestured, the withered branch trembled slightly and, like a great whale drinking water, drew all the dissipating Breath of Decay back into itself. Then, Fang Zhou reached up, retrieved the branch, and contentedly stored it in his Space Storage Capsule.
Next, he just needed to find a well-equipped Alchemy Workshop to begin crafting Undead Attribute Talent Potions.
Aside from the highly conspicuous Breath of Decay, Fang Zhou also discovered a shattered, dark-golden crown where Vladimir’s throne once stood. Evidently, this was the one Vladimir had worn. Fang Zhou bent down and picked up the broken crown, its surface pitted and corroded by Soul Power. The attribute panel immediately provided a prompt.
[Soul Guardian Bronze Crown] (Marvel, Green Excellent): A remnant Marvel of the Naraku Civilization. It possesses miraculous effects for soul protection and nourishment, though most of its function is now lost. Can be used as a casting material to enhance the exclusive equipment of an Undead Mage.
The brief description made Fang Zhou’s eyes light up.
Clearly, the fact that Vladimir’s lingering soul from the Naraku Civilization survived for so long is inseparably linked to this Soul Guardian Bronze Crown. Even though the crown is broken, it’s still an excellent choice as a casting material.
Fang Zhou glanced at the Undead Magic Ball in his hand as an idea began to form. The Undead Magic Ball he had inherited from Instructor Su Xinyan had the special effect of enhancing his Summoning Ability. Even among common White-grade equipment, it was considered top-tier. However, due to the limitations of its raw materials, its quality was beginning to fall short of Fang Zhou’s needs.
If I use this Soul Guardian Bronze Crown as an auxiliary material to reforge it, this magic ball should serve me well for a long time to come.
After stowing the Soul Guardian Bronze Crown, Fang Zhou turned his attention back to the spoils gathered by his Skeleton Army. Among the ashes of the White Bone Throne, he found a transparent skull shimmering with a black luster. After using his Soul Eagle Eye to confirm there was no danger, Fang Zhou picked up the transparent skull and examined the description on its attribute panel.
Thanks to the fragmented knowledge from Vladimir’s soul, Fang Zhou’s understanding of the Naraku Civilization’s Undead Mages had increased immensely. Although time was tight, leaving no room to sort and consolidate this information into the knowledge system of the Blue Star People, it was more than enough to identify some of Vladimir’s relics. This was precisely why Fang Zhou was able to discover these remaining treasures so quickly.
[Soul-Binding Skull] (Marvel, Green Excellent): An Undead Alchemy Creation that can preserve souls for a long time. Though originally of extremely high quality, it has lost most of its functions due to unknown reasons. Can capture a soul for Soul Transformation. Remaining uses: 1.
Reading the attribute panel’s description, a look of realization appeared in Fang Zhou’s eyes.
Perhaps Vladimir’s transformation into that grotesque Soul Sewing Body was also related to this Soul-Binding Skull. But under the erosion of time, this once high-quality Soul-Binding Skull only has one use left.
Fang Zhou was still unsure of its exact effects, so he stored it in his Space Storage Capsule, deciding to study it later.
Besides these two rare Marvels, Fang Zhou didn’t find many other spoils that caught his eye. Among the piles of skeletons scattered throughout the grand hall, he did find over ten Energy Storage Gems filled with undead mana. These were likely accumulated during the short period of Vladimir’s awakening, though their purpose was unknown. To Fang Zhou, however, these Energy Storage Gems were like portable power banks. They could replenish his undead mana on the fly, greatly increasing his sustained combat capability. They were like Mana Recovery Potions but without the resistance build-up.
Fang Zhou tested one of the Energy Storage Gems. He found that a single gem could restore almost his entire mana pool. These dozen or so gems would last him for a long time.
Meanwhile, Hong Yang and Liu Diewu had finished waking up most of the Expedition Team members. Under their command, these team members also helped Fang Zhou loot the entire Undead Tomb.
They didn’t seem to crave the spoils, however. After all, for such a small price, they had eliminated a horde of Undead Demons and eradicated a plague source that could have affected the entire Forest of Nature’s spatial fragment. Both the natural creatures and the Swamp Natives were more than satisfied.
The three teams from Sea City Military Academy had even fewer desires. They had all received the mission issued by the Flower Elf Queen, Biondis. As long as they successfully returned to the Queen’s Tribe, they would receive a wealth of contribution points and military merits. That wasn’t to mention the generous gifts awaiting them from the reserves in the Queen’s Tribe’s treasury.
After looting some more undead Alchemy Materials and the legacies of creatures that had died at Vladimir’s hands, the group came to a regrettable conclusion. Under the scouring of the Power of Time, perhaps the most precious items remaining were the Array Patterns engraved within the Undead Tomb itself. From the first level to the third, obscure characters and patterns were scattered throughout hidden corners. Evidently, this was the knowledge legacy of the Naraku Civilization.
Aside from Fang Zhou, an actual Undead Mage, none of the other Expedition Team members were interested in these things.
Fang Zhou, on the other hand, was ecstatic. He became an archeologist, standing in the central hall of the tomb’s top level and using the energy link with his Undead Creatures to scan and record the enigmatic, fractured Array Patterns. This was a field of undead knowledge Fang Zhou had never encountered, one the Blue Star People had yet to unearth. Normally, he would have been at a complete loss. However, his Corpse Clone had previously discovered a mysterious altar for enhancing zombies in the Undead Realm.
Although the patterns in this Undead Tomb were not identical to those on the Naraku Civilization’s altar, they bore some similarities. Combining this with the fragmented memories from Vladimir’s soul and the Naraku Civilization’s array schematics compiled by Master Sandro, Fang Zhou was able to draw parallels and roughly understand the story depicted within the Undead Tomb.
The original functions of these Array Patterns could no longer be determined, but their basic ability to convey meaning remained. After collecting all the remaining Array Maps, Fang Zhou’s expression remained calm, but a profound look settled deep in his eyes.
Although the story told by the tomb’s Array Patterns was fragmented and sparse, it was something Fang Zhou had never heard before.
Based on the information he had previously come across, the Naraku Civilization had been utterly defeated in their war against the Abyssal Demons, leading to the civilization’s downfall. Only their ruins remained, scattered across the Mythical World for later races like the Blue Star People to excavate. Simply finding a lingering soul like Vladimir’s in this Naraku Civilization tomb, lost within the Forest of Nature, was already astonishing enough.
However, he never expected that according to the story told by the tomb’s Array Patterns, the Naraku Civilization might not have been completely wiped out.
While the majority of the Naraku Civilization’s powerhouses had fallen in their bloody war against the Abyssal Demons, there were survivors.
