Chapter 753: Pseudo-Truth 23
"Mm." Xia Yinian nodded and then stood up.Grandpa could really read her mind, she almost loved him to death, but as for eating porridge, she didn’t want to.
"Ah Yan, take Niannian up, Ah Rui, instruct the servants to prepare some cubilose porridge."
"Yes, Grandpa." Feng Yan stood up.
"Yes, Sir." Feng Rui nodded in response.
"What’s wrong with Niannian?" Gu Beicheng put down his chopsticks and turned his head to look at the girl beside him.
"Nothing, just a bit dizzy, maybe because I drank too much with Uncle today." Xia Yinian met his gaze, pressing her lips together, speaking at a normal pace.
"Do you need Uncle to accompany you upstairs?" Gu Beicheng continued to ask.
"No need, as long as Third Brother is here." Xia Yinian replied softly.
"Niannian, can you walk by yourself?" Feng Yan’s voice rang out from behind Xia Yinian.
Xia Yinian turned to look at him, shaking her head.
"I can, Uncle, I’ll go up first then."
After dropping this sentence, she did not look at Gu Beicheng again and directly started walking towards the main house.
Feng Yan took steps to follow behind her.
Only when they had walked far did the person behind her speak faintly: "Tired of eating porridge every day?"
"I want meat, will Third Young Master prepare it for me?" Xia Yinian turned her head to glance at him.
"I can’t cook, but aren’t you lacking appetite? Eating porridge is quite good." Feng Yan knitted his brows.
Xia Yinian pursed her lips, not saying anything further.
As she returned to her own room, Xia Yinian took a deep breath and walked in.
Continuing like this was not a solution; she should think about how to face Uncle with the right mindset.
A year’s time is neither long nor short. Hiding in the Feng Family house to eat porridge, what should she do when returning to the Gu Family’s home?
After all, the two of them were nominally family and couldn’t always avoid meeting each other.
Did she really have to eat porridge every day? Even if she wanted to lose weight, this was not the way.
While Xia Yinian was deep in thought, someone knocked on the door of her room.
"Come in." It must be Uncle Rui bringing the porridge.
Feng Rui gently pushed open the door, softly calling out, "Miss Niannian."
"Uncle Rui, thank you for your troubles." Xia Yinian said softly, sitting on the bed.
With a tray in his hands, Feng Rui stepped in.
"Third Young Master is concerned about Miss Niannian’s nutrition not keeping up and specifically asked me to prepare some other dishes. If it suits your palate, please eat more."
"Eating porridge every day, the nutrition really isn’t adequate." Feng Rui placed the items on the tray one by one onto the table at the other side of the room.
Xia Yinian glanced over the food on the table, and her stomach growled.
She didn’t want to eat porridge every day; in fact, she wasn’t without appetite.
Luckily, she had a Third Brother who understood her heart; today she might finally have a hearty meat meal.
"Thank you, Uncle Rui."
"Miss Niannian, being polite with old Rui? Alright, I won’t disturb you. Take your time."
Feng Rui looked at Xia Yinian, then turned and walked out of the room, helping her close the door.
As soon as the room door closed, like an arrow released from its bowstrings, Xia Yinian whooshed to a seat by the table.
The bit of pain she felt paled in comparison to her hunger.
Having not properly eaten meat for a few days, tonight she could finally enjoy a full meal.
The girl, who had just been preoccupied, seeing a table full of delicious food, casted all her troubles beyond the clouds.
...
The girl, accidently overeating, sat on the balcony for nearly an hour reading a book before her stomach felt more comfortable.
She didn’t know what was happening downstairs, but it seemed like it was irrelevant to her either way.
