Chapter 1050: Forgot
Chapter 1050: Forgot
Xia Yinian withdrew her gaze and met the Old Madam’s eyes."Grandma, you always like to joke like that." She and Gu Lingqian stopped by the Old Madam’s side.
"Grandma isn’t joking, tut-tut... Nian Nian’s figure is so good, not unlike how I was fifty years ago."
The Old Madam contentedly held Xia Yinian’s hand, her gaze slowly appreciating her.
Xia Yinian couldn’t help but let out a chuckle.
"Nian Nian doesn’t believe it?" The Old Madam frowned.
"Of course not." Xia Yinian waved her hand, "Just looking at how the Old Master adores Grandma, Nian Nian could guess it."
"That’s right." The Old Madam held Xia Yinian’s hand back, looking pained, "Ling Qian, if you dare to treat Nian Nian badly, I definitely won’t forgive you."
"I won’t, Grandma, don’t worry." Gu Lingqian said softly.
Gu Beicheng cleared his throat and turned to look at the three people behind him.
"Uncle." Gu Lingqian looked at him and nodded.
"Uncle." Xia Yinian also called out.
Looking at the girl whose hand was held by Ling Qian, Gu Beicheng, even as composed as he was, squinted slightly.
What did Ling Qian do, letting Nian Nian come down dressed like this?
The sudden chill from Gu Beicheng was even felt by the Old Madam.
She turned to glance at him, frowning.
"What’s wrong?"
"Mom." Gu Beicheng knitted his brows and retracted his gaze from Xia Yinian, "It’s nothing, just a bit hungry."
Just now, Gu Beicheng’s intense gaze was caught by Yu Wanqing coming out from the second floor.
Knowing Beicheng had returned, she came out especially to see, unexpectedly that woman was here too.
Glaring at the figure downstairs in a light yellow evening dress, she clenched her teeth.
"Hungry? You came back so late, haven’t had dinner yet?" The Old Madam complained.
"Hmm, I forgot." Gu Beicheng nodded.
Xia Yinian seemed to feel that when Uncle said he forgot to eat dinner, he glanced at her.
Because she didn’t send a message during dinner today, did he really forget to eat?
Today is his engagement day with Yu Wanqing, she imagined he would have returned early to accept everyone’s blessings.
Now it sounds like Uncle just got back too.
Messages for the past two days have sunk without a trace; Xia Yinian hasn’t received any replies, she even thought he was joking with her that night.
So, she didn’t forget to send him a message tonight; she just thought it wasn’t necessary.
"What time is it now?" The Old Madam looked at Gu Lingqian.
Gu Lingqian glanced at his watch before meeting her gaze.
"Eight twenty-five."
"You should eat something first, around eight forty-five you’ll have to go out with Wanqing, eat something to fill your stomach; there will be drinking tonight."
The Old Madam glanced at Gu Beicheng and commanded.
"Alright, Nian Nian, help me bring some dinner over." Gu Beicheng nodded and stepped towards the dining room.
Xia Yinian hesitated for a moment, then nodded.
"Okay, I understand."
Gu Lingqian let go of Xia Yinian, and even the Old Madam didn’t stop her.
"Xiao Ya, go help Miss Niannian."
"Yes, Old Madam."
With Grandma’s consent, Xia Yinian left with Xiao Ya.
Yu Wanqing bit her teeth hard and disappeared into the corridor on the second floor.
Before long, Xia Yinian and the maid returned through the side door with a serving of dinner.
Arriving at the dining room, the maid stopped, turned to look at Xia Yinian, and softly called, "Lady Nian."
