Chapter 861: Lung Cancer, Terminal Stage
Chapter 861: Lung Cancer, Terminal Stage
"Don’t talk."Dr. Shelby calmly advised while preparing the equipment, "You’ve been lying down for too long and your body is weak. Your cells haven’t fully awakened and need time to adapt."
Melissa Merce closed her eyes, feeling truly exhausted, "Then please give me some nutritional drip. I hope I can recover quickly."
I heard this girl had tried to commit suicide before?
But now she doesn’t intend to die?
"Very good." Ian Shelby was pleased, arranging it without another word, "Doctors love to save those who value their lives."
Finn Morgan had just arrived in the corridor and hadn’t taken a few steps when Zane Merce and Claudia appeared before him.
He stopped in his tracks.
"Finn, could you stay with Cindy a few more days?" Claudia asked in a negotiating tone, "Stay until she’s discharged. I know this request is a bit much, but..."
"We’re just afraid she’ll give up." Zachary Merce looked worried, "She’s our only daughter. Her body and mind have been hurt, and recovery takes time."
Finn Morgan didn’t refuse and said, "Dr. Shelby is here, doing an examination for her. I’ll ask Hailey about it; if I can stay, I will."
At this moment, Jocelyn Morgan and Hailey Hale were walking over and they stopped too.
The five of them serendipitously met in the corridor.
"Hailey." Finn reached out to her, his expression becoming much softer.
Hailey Hale came to his side, placed her hand in his palm, and together they faced the Monroe family elders.
"Melissa woke up and hopes I can stay with her for a day while she’s awake." Finn began, "Her mother wants this too, so now I’m asking for your opinion."
Hailey Hale turned her eyes to look at Finn Morgan, "Since you already agreed, why ask me? I don’t mind."
"Hailey." Claudia softened her stance, "Of course, you can also stay with Finn."
"Let’s first see what Dr. Shelby says, whether there are any after-effects." Hailey replied briskly, "We’ll keep her company briefly; it’s no big deal."
By this time, the results from the full body check-up were already out.
Ian Shelby was staring at the contents displayed on the equipment. Though his face was calm, his heart was shocked.
"Dr. Shelby, am I okay?" Melissa asked casually from the hospital bed. Since being on the nutritional drip, she felt much more comfortable.
"Hmm, not bad."
Ian Shelby tidied up the equipment, and the ward door was knocked open as the Mercer family and Finn with Hailey came in.
Jocelyn Morgan had gone home earlier; she was just there to deliver chicken soup, and her job was done.
"Dr. Shelby, how is my daughter? There won’t be any sequelae, right?" Claudia was anxious.
"No, there won’t be." Ian Shelby answered and then looked at them, "Please come out for a moment. Since there was a car accident, there are some precautions I need to inform you about for her later recovery."
With that, Zachary Merce and Claudia followed him out.
In the corridor, Ian Shelby stopped and turned to face them, speaking truthfully, "Miss Merce is in the late stage of lung cancer. You didn’t know about this, did you?"
"What? Lung cancer? Late stage?"
The couple was shocked, their eyes widening! Then they turned to look at each other for a few seconds!
Bang—!
The news was like a bolt from the blue!
"Dr. Shelby..." Claudia’s voice trembled, feeling a ringing in her ears, "Are you sure your examination results are correct?"
Ian Shelby replied, "I’m very sure."
"She doesn’t smoke or drink, and she’s very careful about her diet. How could it be lung cancer?" Claudia couldn’t accept it.
Ian Shelby felt regretful, "She has at most a month left; you need to be mentally prepared."
Claudia felt as if all strength had been drained from her body, staggering back two steps, and Zachary caught her! He himself seemed heavily devastated!
